Flowers for Ebru: Truth Prevails
Most truths are so naked that people feel sorry for them and cover them up, at least a little bit.
Edward R. Murrow
As expected, Dr. Ilhan Gökgöl, of Animalia Clinic has finally changed in tune.
In a statement issued to the Press last Friday Mr. Ilhan finally conceded that Ebru, the dog of the Marmara died of Acute (Severe) Trauma.
Ebru did NOT die of old age.
Mr. Ilhan then proceeds to give a detailed description of the injuries, to complete a picture that, as announced by Sahip Cikalim already a week ago, fits perfectly the profile of an attack by one or more people on a helpless animal.
We don’t believe in coincidences. The chances that Ebru, a stray dog that was never allowed inside a building could have fallen from a high place are absolutely negligible. The nature of the injuries do not correspond with the nature of the injuries sustained on a car crash. The timing of the injury is irrelevant.
On the other side, the Marmara Hotel, continues maintaining that Ebru died of old age.
As PR disaster goes this is one of those that wont be forgotten easily. PR Spin seldom works and even less so in a society where mass communications are at the reach of our fingertips. No amount of bad PR can hide the truth.
Truth always prevails.
Yesterday a prestigious columnist suggested that Lets Adopt uses the USD 2000 reward offered to find Ebrus killer to build a statue to the dog in Taksim Square, an idea that is being currently considered by many.
Lets Adopt wont be involved in such plans for two reasons:
a) We are convinced the person or persons who did this are out there and will soon be brought to light.
b) Education is a much better way to spend the money.
Tomorrow Monday the 8th of June Lets Adopt will reach out to the owners of the Marmara Hotel and to the Veterinarian Ilhan Gökgöl from Animalia Veterinary clinic and invite them to be at the forefront of a nation-wide awareness campaign of awareness against Animal Abuse in Turkey.
There is nothing humiliating about admitting a mistake. The Marmara Hotel is in no way responsible for Ebru’s death, but it must quickly reverse its stance on this issue. Doing so would not be perceived as an act of weakness, on the contrary, the general public who has now been finally enlightened about the real causes of Ebru’s death, would perceive this in a positive manner. Judging by the interest shown so far, Media, both printed and internet-based, would also look at this in a good light.
Viktor Larkhill’s Lets Adopt was publicly accused by the media of a number of outrageous falsehoods that only a fool would believe. Animal trading, animal slaugthering, animal smuggling. We were even publicly accused by the Manager of the Marmara Hotel by way of Ayse Arman, the newspaper columnist of orchestrating a charade in order to seek millions of Euros from the European Union. Our reply to Mrs. Arman was: Do YOU really believe that? A EU sponsored Facebook group run by a guy with a mask… Do YOU really believe that?
Kind regards
Viktor Larkhill

well done victor. truth prevails indeed. and so will justice! the human trash that did this will pay severely… one way or another!!!
Neesan says:
Well done Lets Adopt… I am sure you will succeed in getting to the bottom of this .
Thank you .
Jessi says:
Yes, I agree that education is a better way of spending the money. If people want to build a statue, even a small one, perhaps donations could be sought from people who paid their respects by putting flowers and/or visited on the day of the flash mob. Just a thought. Or via newspaper announcement.
But more importantly, the perps need to be found.
I also hope the hotel decides to be upfront about why Ebru passed away.
Thanks for all Let’s Adopt has done!
Judi Abbott says:
Good job Viktor. Now the Marmara Hotel needs to tell the truth about Ebru’s death–they will gain good Karma for doing so.
But maybe a small plaque commemorating Ebru at the hotel facade where she reigned would be nice.
Educate, educate, educate.

Katrina Newcombe says:
Well done Viktor and “Let’s Adopt”.
The truth will always come out in the end. Let’s hope that Hotel Marmara can grow a backbone. As you say they are not responsible for Ebru’s death but they must actively pursue justice for him. Personally I think the vet should stay out of the picture altogether. Let us hope that Turkey stop their callous murderous behaviour to all animals.
julia Clowes says:
Maybe it would be nice if the Hotel contributed and built a small statue or a plaque?
Bev Hill says:
Thank you to all at Lets Adopt it is time they conceded only a fool would believe what they said well done for fetching this to light
Tina Alaca says:
Those of you that tried to disgrace Viktor and his work SHAME on you, may God forgive you for your lies.
To Viktor and his work, God bless you may you always be here to help the strays
Tina Alaca says:
Veterinarian Ilhan Gökgöl – thank you for standing up and telling the truth.
Lynn Koskela says:
You and your crew are amazing and no one can truly discrinate against you Viktor for what you do, who you are and what you stand up against, your words are far to strong and heard through out the world and the respect you have gained. I feel a life size statue of Ebru is important but her story must be attached as well for everyone to see and to read, she must never be forgotten, no animal should ever be forgotten..God Bless you Viktor and God Bless Let’s Adopt for being there when no one else is.
Rosemary Tramantano says:
Thank Ilhan for me. İ used to live in Etiler and he looked after my dogs then and when İ moved to Bodrum he reset my dog Thors’ leg after he had his last fling as a Romeo when İ had him neutered!! Kudo’s and keep up the good work!!
AaronC says:
Thank you for speaking the truth Dr. Ilhan Gökgöl, you are a man of honor.
Sadly I feel quite different about the liars at Marmara hotel.
