Dear Friends,
The sad events of the last couple of days have taught us a number of things.
1. Turkish society is changing fast. Just a few years ago the death of an animal like Ebru wouldn’t have made it past the local taxi stand. Today every major (and minor) newspaper in Turkey is reporting on the death of an old stray.
2. Journalism is transforming itself beyond recognition. News travel at an amazing speed, and when the news come from a credible source those news will reach each and every corner of this nation. Slander and lies are out. Truth is in.
3. When faced with an unforeseen circumstance people, corporations, governments first reaction will always be to deny the truth is build elaborate lies. This strategy worked in the past, it doesn’t today. In today’s information society truth cannot be hidden for long.
4. Lets Adopt has become, in barely one and a half years, the largest animal protection network in Turkey. Thousands of previously scattered an unconnected people united now through an invisible link, a group whose only goal is to work on behalf of the animals in this country.
What was previously a divided and scattered group of animal organizations filled with tired and bitter people busy locking dogs in shelters (you know who they are) has given way to a new generation of animal activist. A group of young (and not so young), energetic professionals willing to spend every spare minute in changing animals lives. People driven by an ideal and armed with logic and knowledge and above all a clear understanding of the basic rules of communication.
5. Today Lets Adopt launches its new Logo. The tagline: “Saving animals, inspiring humans” is precisely our aim. Only through inspiration and education we will be able to make lasting changes in the way Turkey treats its animals.
What did you learn about yourself in the hours after Ebru’s death? You very likely learned that you cared more than you previously thought. You suddenly felt a feeling of emptiness and shame. Dont let Ebru’s death pass unnoticed. If you feel what I feel, and if you hope as I hope, I ask you never again to turn a blind eye to an injustice like the one Ebru had to endure. I ask you to stop animal abusers and face them head on without fear as they are, by nature, cowards. Dont be ashamed of questioning someone that you know mistreats his animal, dont be affraid of intervene, rescue and offer a new life to an innocent who is currently living in hell.
Finally, In the hours after the announcement of Ebru’s critical condition we received tens of offers from people wanting to adopt our old friend. Now that she is gone to a better place where noone will hurt hurt her, I will kindly ask you to consider adopting or fostering one of the animals in our adoption list, here:

As an outsider, living on the inside, daily seeing the suffering of animals in turkey, words can not express the gratitude I have to Let’s Adopt for all they do. I know many of these volunteers and can honestly say I have never met a more dedicated group of animal lovers. I hope people will consider the above dogs who need homes, there is so much reward in offering a stray a safe and loving home. If you choose any of these animals, you will choose your best friend for life.
Well said Viktor!
Congratulations on the new logo and its fitting motto as well!!!
