This is a blog post telling the story of a little rescue pup with a terrible medical condition. We are trying to raise enough funds to operate her and save her life.

Please read the post entirely, watch the video, and if you can, help, or at least, please SHARE IT ON FACEBOOK AND YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKS…

This is, without a doubt, the most special time of the year. It´s a time filled with hope and good intentions, a time for families and friends to get together, a year ends, a new one begins.

It is also a time for miracles.

Someone dropped Angel at the pound in a carton box during the night. She was nearly frozen, and whimpering. When the shelter vet opened the box she saw the most adorable but she was different…

Baby Angel had no anus.

IMG_6454

An Imperforate Anus is a birth defect in which the rectum is malformed and an anus non-existant. It´s a congenital anomaly with no known cause.

Angel´s case it´s classified as a High Lesion in which the colon is higher up in the pelvis and there is a fistula connecting the rectum and the bladder, urethra or the vagina.

There is no anus, so, in other words, both pee and poo come out of the same place, her vagina.

There is no need to be an expert in veterinary medicine to understand how wrong that is, and how many complications this creates. Baby Angel´s life is severely compromised by infections and possible mega-colon among other conditions.

Angel has already arrived to us showing signs of distress. She is really not well. We are going to have to go to surgery in no less than 48 hours..

This is going to be one of the most complex surgeries we´ve ever performed and we are going to have to work with one of the leading soft tissue surgeons in the country.

PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO… IT WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE FACING HERE…

Christmas… a time for miracles… this is precisely what this baby needs today.

A miracle.

UPDATE 26 December…

Baby Angel has been operated today… it has been a three and a half hour surgery.

The surgery presented a number of complications, many related to Baby Angel small age and size. I can´t really describe the emotions that I lived on that surgery today… I would instead like to show you…

Amazing… just amazing…

Baby Angel woke up well and she eat dinner nicely. Now it´s just a matter of waiting to see if what we did works out well…

Next 72 hours are going to be critical…

Update 28 December

The images we were all waiting to see!!! Baby Angel 24 hours after her surgery!!!

Update 31 December…

Step by Step… Baby Angel continues her recovery.

Angel has now total control of her bowels and is learning to live life again.

She continues under close monitoring.. receiving antibiotics and inmune boosters… Her mood was a bit down immediately after the surgery but little by little the sun is shinning through!

P.S. After her treatment is over, Baby Angel is going to need an extraordinary home that understands her special needs. If you are that home PLEASE write a letter to me on viktor@myletsadopt.com telling me everything about you and your family of animals.

P.S. Please follow Baby Angel´s updates at Let´s Adopt Global

Mother nature can be so cruel. She has played the cruelest joke on this little baby.
I have been supporting Let´s Adopt Global for more than three years now, and not once I have regretted doing so. Over the years you have made me cry and rejoice, at times both within minutes of each other. I don´t know of any rescue that does what you do, and for this, I will always stand by the side of the animals you rescue.
It´s Christmas, I have presents for my family and I have a present for Baby Angel.
Donated 100. Please do your best to save her Viktor.
    Katy

Of all the organizations I’ve supported and donated to, Let’s Adopt Global feels the most genuine to me. Everyday I read about the struggles, the victories, and sometimes the painful heartbreaking losses. And that is why I love LAG so much. These are all cases where the only thing standing between the life and death of a truly innocent is them. They really are guardian angels. Viktor, thank you for all you do. I hope to read the good news about Baby Angel’s happy recovery and new forever home. God bless LAG and Baby Angel.

  9. I was just telling a friend hat the only thing that makes me cry is animals and then I opened my email and I read this and I cried. I am donating and challenging all my FB friends to donate as well. I do hope Baby Angel doesn’t suffer much longer. The look in those eyes really brought tears to mine.

  10. Hi Victor, am making a small donation at this moment in time….hope to give more when funds permit…I know Angel is in good hands…she is beautiful..

  11. Emmanuel Filosi says:

Cutest little Angel. You are in such good hands. I want you to have a wonderful Christmas. I know it’s not much, but will donate 25$ towards your operation. Your cute little eyes bring me to tears.

  12. Barbara Garcia says:

  18. Kristen Sayers says:

This condition is not as rare as you might think. Years ago one of my infant patients (human) had been born with imperforate anus. Part of why we checked temps anally on newborns was to verify presence of a proper opening. So glad Angel came to you, because deformed puppies so often die. There are many degrees of this condition, and I hope surgery goes well and she heals promptly. Love you guys!

  19. Baby Angel is precious …..small donation made ….I know even small donations add up when everyone pitches in. Keep us posted!!!

Donated, please make gorgeous Baby Angels first Xmas a comfortable, loving one. Merry Xmas to you Victor and your team and thank you once again for the amazing work you all do.

  23. This little sweet baby was probably born without an anus because of over breeding….this will be a very difficult and pain staking and complicated surgery and it will take a Specialist to do the surgery….I hope that once the surgery is completed and this little Angel is healed that her body will function normally.
God Bless you sweet Angel….you are in my thoufhts and prayers.
Viktor, please keep us updated on her conditon and how the surgery went….I pray that it will be a success for this little baby.

  24. Shelley Ball says:

Beautiful baby girl, God Bless, Little Angel and Godspeed on your journey towards a ‘normal’ life. Have donated, be it only a small amount, towards your treatment. So wish I could do more. x

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Donated. I hope this poor baby as well gets what she deserves. A good life with lots of love.

  27. Judith Abbott says:

Precious little Angel deserves her chance. It’s small but it is heartfelt.

  28. Viktor….I wish that I could donate something but all I can do is keep Angel in my prayers…..so, I’m sending her and all of you tons of love, prayers and hugs at this Christmas time……and I sure do hope that sweet little baby pulls through her surgery….The moment I saw her, I fell in love with her….and so wish that I could adopt her….but that is impossible for now….when the time comes for her to be adopted out….I hope that she finds her forever home and that she knows what love really feels like…..you and your team are incredible….there are no words to really say what I feel….I have been following you for quite some time and have fallen in love with so many of these precious angels and cheered them on when they found their forever homes and cried when those were lost and crossed the Rainbow Bridge…..Angel, hang in there girl….you have so many guardian angels watching over you……feel the love that surrounds you and use it to get better…….Love to you all and have a very Merry Christmas. <3 <3

  44. Anonymous says:

How is our LIL ANGEL..update plz

  45. Is it weird that I want to see a video of her pooping and close-up pictures of her new butt (when it’s healed)?? I’m really curious to see the results of this amazing surgery!!

  46. I was very sad for this baby; but after watching the surgery, I am hopeful for her. If anyone can help her, it is your team, Viktor ..what a simply amazing place…please keep us posted on Baby Angel..

  47. Have just contributed. I trust that wise food choices are going to be made for Baby Angel over the course of next few critical days–and the appropriate amount of stool softeners administered–while her new and modified structures are stress tested. Is the possibility of infection a huge concern right now, too?

  48. Thank you and all you do to save the unfortunate, abandoned unwanted, abused and sick animals out there who do not know the Angels who try to help them.
Much love to you and Angel and everyone on this page who has donated!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

  49. Nancy Shufeldt says:

complements to the surgeon! she did a fantastic job with her little body!

    Nancy

  50. Rita Lamey says:

Yet again life saving surgery is provided to the ‘underdog’ quite literally, without it Angel would have had no chance at all. Who else would have done this for an animal that was not their own?, I very much doubt anyone, anywhere. Thank God you were put on this Earth Viktor, to bring all the right people together at the right time. I commend your dedication, I am in awe of your Surgeons and I praise the entire LAG team. If there was ever a group of people able to give Angel the chance for a normal life, it could only have been you. God bless you all.. and Angel..we’re all rooting for you, you go girl. xxxx

  51. Ana Chavez says:

Very difficult operation to watch. Prayers for this tiny Angel. Thank you Viktor for being the hero this baby
    needed!

  52. Just watched the op.Those vets are truly amazing………and one of them looks glamorous even in scrubs! Angel you are going to be fine. Viktor, thank you once again. x

  53. Alice Sudano says:

Oh Viktor, thank you so much got posting the video of baby Angels surgery. That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever watched. I loved the surgeon wiggling her eyebrows in the midst of such a complicated procedure. She’s awesome! What a wonderful team you have. Can’t wait for the next update. You all can subscribe to LAG’s YouTube channel to follow along as well!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Alice!!!

Bless this precious little angel…….just donated to help her…bless you for all you do and bless this darling Little Angel……..God Bless…..hugs.

  58. You should have not done the intervention! You don’t know what you’re doing! Saving babies that should have not survived in nature just lowers DNA quality for future generations. There’s a much bigger chance that this little dog have descendants with the same issues. It is perfectly normal to have newborns with “differences” because of genetic mutations and this is the way nature work in order to produce stronger and more fit future generations. It is a matter of trial and error and there are instances that have bad DNA and should be terminated. The most humane thing to do in this case is to perform euthanasia and save this one a lot of pain.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Dear Pavlin..
Angel will be sterilized and will have no babies. EVER.
We are not concerned about the future evolution of the species. Actually, if you had been born without an ass I would have loved for someone to have you operated, even if you were planning to have babies afterwards.
      You sound like a nazi.

  59. Angi Parkinson says:

Baby Angel says Thank You for saving my life. I say Thank You for giving her a chance.

  60. gerard michael sabatella says:

Angel has such a beautiful but sad face……It literally brought tears to my eyes…..and I’m a 64 yr. old male….So happy the surgery is over…God bless all of you that made this possible….

  61. Donated; thank you for your incredible works saving animals. God bless you and your team.

  62. Don’t get me wrong. I DID donate!
    … 8;o)=

  63. Just sorry that I could not have donated more – but I will share this to my Facebook friends and hope that many more are touched and make a donation.

  64. Ann Rigano says:

I cannot get over all the wonderful work Let’s Adopt does for all these special angels in need. Donated $10.00…wish I could give more but will when I can. Again, great work…and will pray that Baby Angel has a great recovery!!

  65. sally-ann says:

What would be the long term status for this Baby? Will she have bowel control etc, or will she be impaired in that nature? Thank you, thank you for giving her a chance.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

She will have bowel control, of course, but she doesn´t have a sphincter so the adoptant will have to time intake and outtake through a proper raw diet…

  66. Oh my gosh, the operation was amazing… at first I couldn’t watch but then I got so interested in what they were doing. Is there a sphincter muscle where her anus now is or will that be a problem going forward? She is PRECIOUS, beautiful face and temperament. Thank you so much for all you do Viktor. I can’t donate until after the 1st of the year but I will be sending something then! Please keep us updated. I’ve been following for a couple of years now and I donate when I can. I have five dogs, 3 of them rescues so what you do is very meaningful to me. Much love, prayers and good wishes to you!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Dianna.. unfortunately she won´t have a sphincter.. ti´s impossible to build one. But with careful managing her family and her will be ok.

  67. im glad she will be ok and thats a good name my dog name is angel to

  68. Donating…I certainly hope that Angel goes to 2015 healing…may GOD BLESS her…and you and your people, Viktor…

  69. Bojan Podgorsek says:

    Dear Victor,
I have been following you for some time now, ever since I saw your plight with BIANKA. I donate every chance I can, and even though it is not much I know you will do the best you can with it. Hope this donation helps, I turn to your organization for a dose of optimism and you are the ones I donate to the most. Thank you for all the work you do and I wish you and the whole of LAG and all the kind animals you care for all the best in the new 2015 year.

    Sincerely, Bojan Podgorsek

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Bojan!!!!! Thank you and Happy New Year to you. Thank you for being with us in this journey…

  70. We should stop playing God and go against nature’s laws. That’s my point. Your intentions are great but sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest one.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Remember that time when you got pneumonia as a kid? If someone hadn´t played God and went against the laws of nature I guess right now we wouldnt be talking.

  71. TINA MARIE WHITE says:

GREAT LOB ON ANGEL! PLEASE GIVE ME ALL THE DETAILS ON HOW SHE IS DOING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND ANGEL!

  72. Viktor, well put 🙂 People don’t realize, but without modern day medicine, most of us would be dead or extremely sick. Without vaccines, antibiotics, etc, how could we live so long. Humans now live longer than they’ve ever lived, so I believe all animals have the same right. So happy you could save Baby Angel. Viktor, you are also an Angel! I can’t stop saying: “Thank you for the miracles you do”.

  73. can we have news please???

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi.. Update coming tomorrow.. You are going to love it 🙂

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you very much Auris!!! Thank you!

  74. Donated. My last good deed for 2014. Thank you LAG from the bottom of my heart. I pray for Angel’s continued recovery.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you Sharon.. may 2015 be an absolutely wonderful year for you and yours!

  75. Hi Victor – how is little Baby Angel? There have not been any updates … I hope she is feeling better! Best regards! Marisa

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Marisa… yes.. two days after the last update she moved to a local foster where she is growing and getting used to the new condition.. I need to go visit them sometime next week..

  76. Sabine Georgi says:

Hello Victor, how is Baby Angel doing?
