His name is Draco and for the last three years he has been the only four legged member of a young family with a baby daughter.

Born to a backyard breeder, he was the odd one out at the litter. An extremely calm character, he would stand calm and quiet on his corner… watching.

This unusual calm, is what made his family decide to get him and love him like one of their own, or so he thought.

Yesterday, as Draco was about to start his morning walk, his leash snapped and he ended under a passing car. In a fraction of a second the damage was done.

Draco’s fractures are multiple and terrifying to look at. He has a disk hernia, his Sacrum and hip are shattered. Right now he’s paralyzed from the waist down, unable to walk, to stand up, to hold his pee and in pain.

Faced with the news that unless Draco has an urgent operation he will remain paralyzed for life the family decided to euthanize him…

And this is where we come in… We KNOW, because we have performed multiple similar operations in recent months that Draco’s condition is recoverable, that with the right combination of technology and skill he can recover the use of his legs and above all we know he shouldn’t die untreated, not without been given every chance to recover. Right now, that’s not the case.. right now he’s going to be killed without even trying.

We have asked his family for Draco to be released onto our care and responsibility, to surrender him to us to give him a one last shot at life… tearfully they did.

Right now we are all he has. We are Draco’s last chance of ever having a normal pain-free life again.

Could you please help us making this dream a reality?

We don’t have a single second to loose. Every minute counts. Operation is scheduled for tomorrow.

Please, if you can, contribute to Draco’s surgery today… Look at this extraordinary face and please help him get his life back on track… It’s going to be all… or nothing.

Update post-surgery Aug 22

Everything went well!!!

Draco’s operation took place yesterday evening and it went well… as you can see in this Xray we had to create quite a bit of a structure to put everything buy xanax melbourne back in place, but we are very happy with the results.

Draco is doing great.. under a great pain management schedule, and he obviously feels greatly relieved. Just have a look at him… say HI! 🙂

August 23 .. Draco is going home for the weekend..

Draco is doing really good and we think it’s best for him to go home with his family for the weekend. He is stressed at the clinic, clearly misses them, he’s not eating as well as he should…

So we are sending him home until Monday that he will be back to continue his therapy.

Here is a great video of him and his owner :-)… LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!

August 29

Today we had Draco at the clinic. Such a nice pleasure to see that face!

He’s doing well… his family is doing everything possible for him to recover. He is energized by the atmospher at home, by the family’s little baby girl, and by the home food he missed so much whilst at the clinic.

His evolution is very satisfactory… little by little he’s beginning to stand on his two feet, control of his body funtions is also slowly returning.

Look at that face:

 Update Sept 20

Our little Hero continues his progress. He’s doing well, he has regained control of bodily functions, stands on his own and walks around the house. Now we must work on his strength and on mobility.

He’s amazing… we are all in love with Draco. He has stolen our hearts…

October 1st

DRACO WALKS… DRACO RUNS…
Draco has been given a new lease in life. He’s happy… we are happy…
His Therapy continues…

Draco’s surgery is out of the way, now it beings probably the hardest part, the rehabilitation.  Please if you can help us by contributing to Draco’s rehabilitation program…

Many thanks!

Viktor

My beautiful Havanese suffered a similar injury. He too was too beautiful to be put down. I paid for his surgery and have a beAutiful, loving, devoted companion to show for it. I have sent a donation to hopefully help Draco have the same kind of life. God bless!

  21. He can have wheels – I investigated them when we thought our dachshund would never walk again. Dogs adapt very well to them. There are many many websites, please check them out – and they don’t cost an absolute fortune either. Good luck Draco xxx

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Dont worry Elaine.. we’ll make him walk again -)

  22. Jean Stewart, Scotland says:

It was probably a BLESSING IN DISQUISE because if he could FEEL THE PAIN OF EVEN SITTING DOWN HE WOULD BE IN HORRENDOUS PAIN right now without pain killers, I don’t even KNOW HOW HE CAN SIT DOWN with his hip out and the rest of his problems ??? He is so CUTE ! he looks like a little old man sitting there, lol SO glad the operation went well, am praying that there is no PARALYSIS at all, it would be a MIRACLE !!! THE SURGERY LOOK GREAT !! WOW your surgeons are AMAZING !! you guys always have the WORSE CASES and I will pray that all the FINANCES COME IN TO TAKE CARE OF HIM BE BLESSED AND SHALOM

Everybody is awesome! Look how happy the owner is!!! There are great people in the world. Please think how relieved the family is. Not everybody has a way to take of medical bills like this. I know that I would be devastated if something happened to one of my dogs that would cost more than I could ever fathom. This video is great and a happy ending!

  28. I love you Viktor…When I get rich, I am going to come meet you in person!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

On a pension with limited $$$, but am sharing. Thanks so much for helping this little guy!

  30. Draco would probable eat fresh cooked white chicken meat just to get his health back and I would never send him home to those people.
That chicken would have been the first thing he should of gotten and then start mix it .
I seen it work just until they get a good appetite back. Thank

  31. Draco is a beautifull boy-there is something special I very much like abt. him, I am so happy his owner has come to see him, Draco is looking a bit stressed but certainly can see how well he responds to his owner coming by.I do not get Barbaras attitude saying the owner shouldn’t get him back,it was a accident Draco snapped from his leash and got hurt can happen to anyone.-Barbara you should read the story first before commenting this. The owner CLEARLY loves this dog and I am happy he is taking him home.May all the best for Draco and God bless this owner.Waiting for an update on Draco.

  32. Norma Jones says:

Have enrolled as a supporter so will share Draco on facebook. am such an admirer of you all & the work you do with seemingly hopeless cases. Thank you.

  33. Youre totally blessed Viktor..

  34. While u are blessed and caring life savers, I could not help but imagine watching Draco that sometimes it is kinder to make other decisions for our pets. He just seemed desperate and painful…something I have seen in the eyes of my own dog that I have let go. There is another side to saving our beloved pets and one is the belief that we make the difficult decision to send them on for their sake rather than keep them going because it serves our heart more than theirs….and in this boys eyes, I regretfully saw he was really sadly asking to go…I just had to express this for his sake…

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Well.. I guess it was a good think we didn’t listen to him because he’s up and running with his little girl… 🙂
We must look at issues medium and long term… never in the short term.. never.
      Best

  36. I donated a few weeks ago to Dracos recovery and I asked if he was being put up for adoption as I would be willing to pay for his flight as I just love that wee man! I am scared that he might get hurt again as I cannot understand how such a quiet little dog got ran over in the first place..

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Dear Ann,
Many thanks for your note.. no… we won’t put him for adoption. He has a family. What happened was an unfortunate accident that believe me, will never happen again. I am going to upload a video of him in a few minutes.. you will see the love he’s being treated with.xxx

  37. How is baby Draco doing? Can we get a recent picture or small video ? Lots of love to you all !

  38. Caroline Lalonge says:

Does he still have no control on his pee?

When he’ll be better, I hope you send him back to the family who loved him…

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Caroline, yes, he has control over his pee… and yes, he is with the family already.. I’m going to upload a video of his last check up shortly

  39. Awesome… Awesome to see Him recovering and YOU are awesome for having such a big, beautiful heart 🙂 I love Viktor too !!! LOL
