The passing of Biscuit has taught me the extent of our reach and how deep the connection we have built with all of you. I’m totally devastated by the loss but I’m also terribly proud of the kind of community we have built. We do, what noone else does… and we are going to do it again, this time for this beautiful black girl…

I’ve named her Happy, in the hope that the name brings her some good luck because she really needs it.

She has been found in a terrible state crawling in the streets, she was laying on the floor, trying to stand up but she couldn’t. The problem is not only having one fractured bone, is that she has TWO BROKEN LEGS and she will lose one of them or both unless we fix her.

Her front leg has radial paralysis, and it cannot be fixed in any way so we will have to amputate it. That’s ok, it’s bad, but it’s not end of the world, tripod cats do very well, and they can run fast like the wind.

The problem is that her back leg is ALSO broken, the knee is shattered in multiple pieces, and it needs total reconstruction. This quite a complicated surgery, it’s not just putting a plate to a broken bone, we need to rebuild one of the most complex articulations on a mammal and do so in a way that the knee continues being operational so that she can move. Before she came to us Happy went to two vets. Both recomended the person that found her that it was better to kill her. Finally, she contacted us, we were her last order xanax bars resort.

The knee is pretty badly fractured, but it’s not an impossible operation, and we can fix it.

After this is done we will let her recover for two or three weeks and we will have to amputate the front leg.

Saving animals like Happy it’s not an easy task. It requires to have broad vision and perspective, to consider all possible alternatives and understand that the best outcome for an animal is not death, that’s the WORST!!!!… the best possible for a cat like Happy today, is to be operated, to have her leg reconstructed and then, in time, to have a great life as a tripod in a great home.

So that’s the plan, and for that we need you… This is an incredible community able to do things that noone else does.

Today we are Happy’s last and only hope. IF WE FAIL SHE WILL HAVE NO LIFE.

Let’s make this happen…

Please, watch this video I took this morning with Happy and if you can, contribute to her Chipin today… That’s it.. we are her only chance now..

Update October 27

SUCCESS!!!!
The 1st operation of Happy has been a success!!!!
Our surgeon has reconstructed her knee. She is expected to regain full mobility !!!
Now.. unfortunately, we have to amputate her front leg.. 🙁

===

Update November 7

Happy is… Happy… well.. nearly happy, her operated leg is recovering very well, and we don’t expect any problems on this front. Now she needs to get ready for her second, and unfortunately far more traumatic operation, the amputation of her front leg affected by radial paralysis.

It’s really sad that she has go to through this but it’s really inevitable, there is no other solution 🙁

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      I don’t know Russ… I suppose this was a car accident..

  2. Hi Victor, very strange i donated some money around 20 min. ago but it has not shown on the above scale. Any explanation?? nataliya

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Yes Nataliya… the Chipin widget doesn’t update automatically.. it’s there, we received it, but doesn’t show on the Chipin until you refresh your cache (or they update it periodically).. to be honest I don’t know… but it’s there… many many thanks.. Viktor

  3. Debbie Ryan says:

You are in good hands, Happy. Thanks, Viktor

  4. Can the money raised for Biscuit be used for Lucky?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Absolutely… we had earmarked funds for his operation that are now being used for any of the 10000 things this group does, including paying for operations of animals that we never get to raise funds, buying travel crates, supporting foster homes that may need funds, etc… in any case, as you can imagine bringing Biscuit from Georgia already was a significant expense, and the fund was used for that.
Chances are we won’t be able to raise enough for cover Happy’s operation, the fund will of course cover that.. the fund covers everything you see, and what you don’t.
      xx

  5. One of my cats lost one of his front legs due to being bit by a staffy, we payed $2000+ for his amputation and now he’s faster and stronger than ever

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Of course.. I have no doubt she will run like the wind too .. but first we need to fix the broken leg to secure at least she has it working by the time she is amputated..

  6. Thanks Viktor!

Chipped in! Happy reminded me of my black cat, Yoyo, whom the shelter has given up hope, but hung on to life for six more months till he recovered. In memory of beloved Biscuits, thanks for all you do, Viktor.

Owner of Shadow Cat Rescue & Gargoyles and know all to well how far $ doesn’t go, and not being able to tell one they don’t matter enough to get the best care – rubbish. Dug into our reserve to aid Happy just a little bit and will be sharing her plight on our facebook page. Bless You!
