IMG_9935 It was three in the morning. Someone sent me an urgent email and a picture. A dog was trying to survive in the forest but she was loosing the battle. The person had given her a bag of food before leaving. She had no water. She barely had any hair. Her skin was full of scars. She must have lived in total agony for months. I went to bed but I couldn´t sleep. All I could think of was that heartbreaking image…. All I could think of was finding her and make it all right for her. I had to go… there was no time to waste. We searched for hours. She was nowhere to be found. At last, she was there…. hiding in the bushes. IMG_9987 The glaring sun showed us the extent of her injuries. It was heartbreaking… We have named her Sweetie, to reflect the beauty and kindness of her character. We immediately put all our resources to work towards saving her life. The damage done by Mange on her skin is as terrible as the ravages of Leishmania and Erlichia on her insides…. She has anemia… her blood is thin as water. But there is hope. Her conditions are treatable, and if she has survived for so long, if she has held to life for as long as deserves all the help we can give her. Right now Sweetie, is in intensive care in our clinic, connected to IV fluids … She was about to die when we found her. It´s time for Sweetie´s life to turn around.10007376_805765969447902_2846023942448215507_o Update 12 of May…  Little by little life starts to come back to a dog that everyone thought would die… One step at a time.. photo-59 copy 6 IMG_1298 Update 30th of May… Meet the New Sweetie… too beautiful for words… photo-59 copy 4

Sweetie is still looking for an incredible home. Are you the one? Please write to me on viktor@myletsadopt.com. Many suggested Sweetie should be euthanised… We proved them wrong.

UPDATE 27 OF AUGUST…

This is the final rescue video of Sweetie… it tells the full story, from the day she was rescued until the day we said goodbye leaving her in the arms of her family…

If you are one of the people that made this possible… THANK YOU, because nothing we do can happen without you…

What an incredible video…

We´ll be updating you on Sweetie´s incredible life here and in our page, Let´s Adopt! Global..

In the meantime, Please, if you can, help us continue our work. Please Donate and help us save other animals in conditions as terrible as Sweetie was…

 Many thanks!

Viktor

  28. Beryl E. Sanders says:

Some humans amaze me…..they toss away their beloved animals as soon as soon as they get sick…would they do this to one of their children if they couldn’t afford to buy the medication they needed to be well??? A dog or a cat is a family member and should be taken care of the same as a child….you are the leader of their pack and they look at their owner as a beloved member of their pack so how could anyone with a heart or a conscience turn their back on their animals. Abusing animals makes me ill and I will never understand why anyone would have an animal if they have no intention of loving and taking good care of their family member. I am so sorry for the condition that Sweetie is in but I am so happy that you, Viktor and your team have her in your care because I know you will do the best you can for this beautiful girl. I will donate later.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks for being there Beryl…

  29. bill schiess says:

why is spain so horrible to dogs??? And the bullkilling as well

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

I don´t know… it´s pretty horrible everywhere to be honest, not just Spain. Everywhere.

  43. Zara Benton says:

I am in tears – again and again to see all this abuse in the world, it just breaks my heart so much. Thank you for going to find her and for bringing her to a place where she at least has another chance to live, she had none where she was left. She is a beautiful sweet soul, you can see that by her eyes and she even tried to wag her tail in the car ….. poor baby girl.

Thank you for all you are doing for her, I will be watching and waiting for her updates and I am donating a little for her care.

God be with you Sweetie, I am holding you in my heart and praying for your recovery and a new loving forever home. xx

  44. Julie Limbocker says:

What a sweet baby…..I just wanted to hold her and love her. how someone can do that is just hard to understand. I want to see pictures of her when she is better…PLEASE POST the after care pictures

  45. Paul Walker says:

Where is your location, and information? I would like to see it , just for my own sake. What’s it going to take in the long run? Describe to me what the internal problems are, so I understand? How old is she? Very interested.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Paul… we are registered in Southbridge Massachussets but Sweetie has been rescued in Valencia, Spain.
      We rescue internationally…
She has Leishmaniosis, Erlichia and anemia… the three diseases are treatable and we are doing just that. She will stay at the clinic until she gets a clean bill of health. By the time she leaves she will be a totally different dog, I promise you that.
If interested drop me an email on viktor@myletsadopt.com
      Many thanks!

  46. Manda Smyth says:

Hi Viktor, I am curious as to the treatment Sweety will receive for Leishmaniosis as I have been informed that there is no actual cure for this condition and infected dogs are likely to relapse?? Absolute respect to all involved in this fantastic rescue if Sweety, you are indeed a beacon of hope.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Whoever told you this has no idea. Leishmaniosis is a chronic disease, but not much more different that the herpes virus in humans. Chances of relapse are very minimal if the animal has a good home, no stress and good quality of life.
      Please Watch this two stories:
      Romeo, has Leishmaniasis http://blog.myletsadopt.com/2014/01/29/romeo-a-dog-transformed-into-a-walking-zombie/
      Tom: has Leishmaniasis http://blog.myletsadopt.com/2014/05/02/toms-final-journey/
      Look at them now..

  47. Taryl Shack says:

Donated… But the sadness and reality is that there will never be enough people or enough space for all the animals in the world that suffer from abuse… OMG if there was only humanity in all… we would not see such sadness.. This breaks my heart- but then I see stories like Tom and Mia.. that lighten the load… God Bless You

  48. Alexander Damyanovich says:

Poor Sweetie (“Dulce” in Spanish?)!!! Yes, she looks at least part-German Shepherd; however, REGARDLESS, life is life!!!!

It doesn’t matter what breeds or breed-mixes are in an animal (dog, cat, mink, ferret, &c.): it ALWAYS is valuable as part of God’s Creation. Furthermore, one can be surprised at what talents can all the more be found in a mongrel or “mutt”!!!

Thank you so very, very, very much for helping Sweetie!!! God Bless her and you – I’m looking forward to another success story from you…

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Alexander.. Yes.. Dulce is a podenco, same breed as Tom just that much younger and black..
We are doing everything for her. She will make you proud.

  49. Karen Zarinsky says:

My heart melts for this girl. We have another Pup also. Hoping to see good news for her in coming updates, and thank you for rescuing her…

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you Christine.. please drop me a mail on viktor@myletsadopt.com and let´s take it from there… she is going to need an amazing family after she is recovered..

  52. Christine says:

  58. Im a lost for words are these people that did this because i see the devils workwell all i will say is you dont have the right to go on being in our world but if u have too then i know god has a forgiving heart but i hope god has no mercy on your SOUL hope he just send u straight to the devil

  60. Melanie Duncan says:

Victor, where is Sweetie now? Is she being treated in Spain or Mass.?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Melanie.. Sweetie is in Valencia, Spain…
      She´s amazing.. she really is..

  61. Jan Ayton says:

Love those ears… I know you’ll do your best for sweetie and a small (sorry) donation sent. Such sad images, heartbroken but very very angry!!

  62. Tanya Curtis says:

The poor dog so glad she is getting all the help she needs to make a full recovery , how could her owners let this happen ? This is so wrong hope they find her owners prosecute them & get banned from keeping any animal for life xx

  63. Once again thank you is just not enough for all the miracles you do, I hate the human race, then read all the replies & people who care & donate & my faith is restored, I donate to Lets Adopt Global by monthly debit as feel helps to know have a regular small amount & so easy, please all if can do this will help so much.for all the rescues. Did you manage to save all the shelter cats after Viktor?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Yes Norma, we did… I will send you a video tomorrow you’ll see…

  64. Stephanie Glennie says:

Thank you for all you do Viktor and your amazing team. My heart breaks watching these videos, such beautiful animals that deserve to be treated with love and respect, thank goodness for people like you, I don’t have a lot of money but will donate what I can.

  65. Manda Smyth says:

Thank you for your reply and for the links, it seems that there is a huge misunderstanding of this condition in the uk as I have had several conversations with vets and various others regarding this. I have been attempting to rescue a dog from Iraq and have met so many walls with regards to transportation and quarantine it is so frustrating. Thank you for educating me that bit more!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Manda, because in the Uk the disease doesnt exist vets there are simply not knowledgeable and they err in the side of caution. Also, traditionally the uk has been closed to the imports of animals. They just don’t know…. Its sad

  66. rafael villafane says:

donated. please keep us updated. thank you.

  68. Maire Hurme says:

I just donated a little for Sweetie. I hope she can forgive us humans for all the pain someone uf us caused her. I just cannot tolerate persons like her abuser!

  69. Mary Pugh says:

I will take her!!! All my dogs are rescue dogs…. They know nothing but love!!

  70. Alexander Damyanovich says:

WOW, I’m surprised that Dulce is a podenco (female “podenca”?), just like Tom!!!! Either way, here’s hoping her recovery continues – if any money happens to be surplus relative to her, let it then go to Lady!!!

It’s remarkable that Spain seems to be the home for quite a few unique dog-breeds – ah, how I wish its people would treasure both their animals AND their specific breeds (galgos, podencos)!! I’m half-wondering if this abusive streak has something to do with the Moslem (Moorish) influence that Spain had to endure until the Reconquista was complete…

  71. Jean Stewart, Scotland says:

Just beyond belief…..poor wee soul……..thank you for saving her. Donation sent. x

  72. Carol Foley says:

You precious little soul may God bless you and keep you safe, and the monster that did this to you may he rot in hell.

  73. Wendy WINTERSGILL says:

Sweetie you are precious ….I can hardly wait to see your journey!!!! May you only know love and a may a forever home come that will just treat you so special .

  74. Adrienne Philpot says:

This is so sad. I know she’s in good hands now. Poor baby.

    Please keep us updated.

  75. Catherine Nunez says:

I will share this with people on Facebook. I have an idea, let’s find that SOB, and do the same to him/her, then have that person arrested, convicted, and sent to jail FOREVER!

All animals are innocent and should never be treated that way. This is abuse at the highest level!!!

  76. harshna yadav says:

Hey can ubpls tell me where are u from…actually I livevin indore and I adopt pups like sweety…if shebis anywhere near my city I will adopt her…pls reply if possible pls e-mail me.

  93. Viktor. Where do you live? Do you live in Spain or USA. I am alittle confused because you seem to be all over the place. I know you say that you are registered in Mass, US. Just trying to get a clearer picture of how you operate. If I see and hear of any animal in distress in the US, I mean real bad cases who do we call? Email you? Ring you? Sorry just confused here…… I am in the US.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Jassmond… I am based in Spain but we are legally registered in Massachussets.. we rescue all over the world..

  94. She is such a brave and lovely little girl! I would be interested in giving her a permanent home in Scotland where she would receive constant cuddles, care and attention ….does she have a forever home lined up yet?

  95. She looks absolutelly another, just like an another dog – AMAZING RESVUE – thank you all, you do such a great JOB with your hearts!

  96. Anna Varrecchia Magee says:

Please don’t anyone put yourself down for not being able to donate much! Every dollar counts even if its just a dollar.

  97. Victor The dog in the first pic is the same dog as the last picture.. hairy one?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Yep… that´s Sweetie ! 🙂

  98. Victor this the most wonderful news! How exciting for her. I was wondering how she was doing and now she is getting what she deserves. She will finally be happy, fed and loved. She even has a friend to play with. Just wonderful. TY for saving her and giving her a second chance at life. Hugs to you Victor and your team. I am sure Rockett and Lady are happy for her also. I am still so so sorry about what happened. At least those two have each other.

  99. Barbara Garcia says:

I’ve been keeping Sweetie in my thoughts and prayers. I donated and could not get her first image out of my head. Thank you to the adopting family. Shower her with kisses from me.
