Every dog has a story.
Sometimes they are told to us by the people that rescue them, others, by those that release them into our care, and at times, in occasions such as this one the stories are told by their BONES. In Joy’s case a terrible double fracture.
Joy has been brought to us by the lady responsible of a killing pound. She was brought to her weeks ago and her character made her fall in love with her. She knew her leg wasn’t right, but a kill pound is no place for romanticism. She knew sooner or later she would have to be euthanized.
But the connection had been made… For weeks Joy followed her around, wagging her tail in spite of the pain caused by her broken bones and by the way the injury had set on its own. With every outburst of growth, the bones were becoming more twisted, the joint more useless and Joy’s future, bleaker. But her tail never stopped wagging. Never.
She couldn’t do it.. Joy’s choices were stark and clear, she would have to be treated or she would be killed at the shelter.
It’s absolutely impossible for an animal lover to euthanize a dog that is so obviously happy and so hungry for life as Joy is. A quick glimpse into her eyes transports you to a magical place where dogs run free, careless and free, a place where there is no abuse, no speeding cars and where families stick to their word, for life.
From a medical point of view Joy presents a challenge. Our usual surgical techniques can’t be applied here. The deformation and twisting on her bones requires a totally different approach.
To get this right we are going to use a very special technique, called TRACTION OSTEOGENESIS. This technique, created by the russian scientist Dr. Gavriil Ilizarov is widely used in human medicine to treat extremely complicated or open fractures but it is very seldom used in animals due to it’s difficulty and complication. Basically, we will set the bone in place by slowly turning it and realigning it at the rate of 1 mm a day until the entire leg has been reshaped.
Easier said that done.
Joy will have to spend close to two months with our medical team. To do this right Joy will have to be supervised at all times and her injury treated with extreme attention and precision. It will be difficult, but it can be done.
I will describe my symptoms. Almost complete lack of sleep, constant nervousness, often aggravated by tremors of hands and head, palpitations, anxiety, generally unpleasant and uncomfortable state, which morally killed me. The drug is good, but, like all -zepams, it has an addictive effect, so I can only recommend it for emergency situations, in which other (more sparing) herbal remedies don’t have the desired effect. Read more information about the drug on http://esd-alliance.org/klonopin-online/.
We know times are tough, that many are struggling right now and that others, the more fortunate, are about to stop their normal activities and go into summer mode. Please, at least help us save JOY by SHARING this blog on Facebook, Twitter, you name it… anywhere you can… . Please help us save JOY, she is just a baby, she deserves a first real shot at happiness.
Please, if you can, HELP US SAVE JOY TODAY…
