Rural Greece…. a holiday maker paradise, a hell for an animal in desperate need.

Loukas was found on June 8, laying immobile inside a carton box by the side of the pavement in a village in the Peloponese.

Right next to the box, dropped on the floor there was a handwritten note explaining that the puppy had been hit on the head by a car. Nothing else.
A young girl, Konstantina, found him… and that encounter changed both their lives.

Konstantina rushed him to the vet who gave him some basic first cures and an anti inflammatory. A scanner was needed to fully assess the situation. There was no such equipment, they had to make do with the bare basics and with an extraordinary amount of love.

At that point Konstantina contacted me. In those days Loukas was not in a condition to be moved, furthermore there was nowhere to take him. Flying him at that stage was a risk that we couldn’t assume.

I promised Konstantina we would help, but that at that stage she would have to do all the hard work. The patient efforts to teach him how to walk, the endless hours of observation for a deterioration of his condition. Teaching him to trust humans and to navigate through a world that clearly was far beyond his grasp.

Over the following months Konstantina had to fight tooth and nails to keep him alive. Loukas was exhibiting some sequels from his trauma, he had trouble standing up and walking in a straight line. Everyone had given up on him from day one, the only humane option for the puppy was euthanasia they said. A merciful death was the best for the dog… the best for the dog… no more pain…  They said it was in Louka’s BEST INTEREST TO DIE.

December 25. Christmas Day: As I sit in front of my desk how to order xanax from mexico writing this story I look at pictures and movies of Loukas that tell the tale of a miracle.

I see a puppy that against all odds survived thanks to the healing power of love. I can only imagine the pride Konstantina must feel, the immense satisfaction only experienced by true rescuers, people that in the face of adversity go the extra mile to save a life.

Tomorrow Wednesday Konstantina and Loukas will start the long travel by road that will take them to Athens airport from their village. They will travel through the night to make it to the airport in time for their Thursday morning flight that will take them to Frankfurt, Germany, where our team will be waiting for them. Louka’s new life in Germany is about to start. For the time being he will live in a great foster home, and very soon I hope, he will find his final home among one of our German friends… I have no doubt in my mind Loukas will never forget Konstantina, as I am sure, this won’t be the last time they meet.

We are going to give Konstantina and Louka a Christmas gift.

They are booked for a flight on Thursday. A plane ride to destiny.

Let’s all make this possible for them. The gift of a new life.

Konstantina will fly with him, deliver him home, cry a bucket and fly back to Greece the next day… and all will be well..

Please, if you can, consider Chipin in to send Louka’s home…

If you are an Apple user you will be able to help Loukas by clicking HERE

Many many thanks..

Viktor

  11. There have been many occasions that I would love to help, though I am sure I am not the only person with this problem ! I, do not have a credit card . Though I would have made my way to a bank tomorrow to donate money to this little puppy”s help, if there was an account to put it in. Just something to think about. Thanks for the moment !

Konstantina thee are no words in my heart to thank you for fighting to save this sweet little puppy Louka. You are a beautiful person and a real Rescuer. all to often people say put the animal to sleep, it is in it’s best interest or remove a limb because these are less expensive alternatives to saving a life or limb. I praise God for the miracle he performed in this little life. may the rest of his days be happy and healthy and may he never be allowed to run where he can be hurt. I thank God for total recovery will every part of his precious little body, working as it should. thank you again and God bless you both. Have a safe flight to Germany and I’m sure it will be a lonesome one back home but you did a wonderful thing.
