If you are reading this you are likely to be an animal rescuer, or least to like animals beyond what the general public finds “normal”.

If you are reading this you are also likely to spot an animal in trouble when others just see nothing.

I’ve name him Samson and I must admit I nearly missed this little man... just by looking at these pictures you will understand why.

I found him in exactly the same place where I found Monkey about already three months ago. He was stumbling on the side, right next to the garbage container. At first from the car, I thought he may been a rat or a mouse, it was dark and he black, but rats don’t stumble and fall, this was a kitty and he was in trouble.

Stopped the car, and I grabbed him, there was not much left in him skin and bones, not much of either. Samson weighs little over 100 grams. A hundred grams of skin, bit of fur, infection, pus, fleas… and whole lot of PRIDE!!!!

What a cat!!! Never seen anything like it… I mean, he’s got everything going against him, he’s totally malnourished, who knows when he ate last. One of his eyes is totally gone. Instead of eye fluid, he had puss and infection, the other eye has severe keratitis and we don’t know if well be able to save it., and he’s black which unfortunately makes him nearly invisible as he barely comes in pictures as more than a black dot against whatever background we choose. But against all odds, this is a cat that won’t be brought down, a true survivor. Samson defines the word attitude.

Samson wants to go on with life. He doesn’t mind about loosing sight, or having to fight for weeks in order to get rid of the virus that has caused his condition, he just lives the moment as only a cat can do.

We are first going to stabilise his condition, improve his anaemia, reduce infection, and then we will operate his eye. Once this source of infection and pain is gone, he will be more comfortable and with our help his body will be able to focus on fixing the rest, on healing, on growing, on BECOMING THE CAT HE WANTS TO BE… minus the eye (and the fleas).

This is Samson, a name that signifies both strength and weakness. This is Samson, and he’ll only make it, if we help him.   I leave you with a video of him, hopefully you will see and feel what I see and feel…

Please, if you can, contribute to Samson’s Chipin todaywe are is lifeline, and his only chance…

After he is recovered fully Samson will need a final home… If you feel you are HIS family please contact me on viktor@myletsadopt.com

Please, help us save Samson’s life by SHARING this post across your social networks…

Update September 20

This evening I went to the clinic and took Samson out. In the last two days he has experienced a great improvement but he is not ready to be operated yet, so I thought bringing him home, to good food and the warmth of a home would do him some good..

Have a look at this… I believe the improvement is remarkable… One of this eyes is gone beyond repair but we are controlling the infection and it has gone down considerably in size… the other eye is slowly clearing up… :-).

And here is is.. eating like a tiger, Samson.. what a cat!!!

====

Update October 31st…

Samson is growing beautiful and strong. A real amazing survivor, one of the most amazing cats I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. He’s absolutely unbelieveble…

He lost one eye… we have been waiting for him to gain full strenght but he’s now ready to be operated. We saved the second eye, he sees better than an eagle… he’s incredible and he is looking for a home. Watch his pictures and compare to his condition when we met him.. amazing right?

Update November 5

Amazing.. I have no other words to describe this kitty. Amazing Samson.

He’s growing, since he came into my home to complete his recovery he hasn’t stopped playing. He is best friends with all my animals, enjoys running around chasing everyone. But his favorite? The scratching post with the pink ball… He’s in love with that ball…

Donated. A huge thank you for looking after this baby. He would never have had a chance is anyone else had found him. Love everything you all do, best wishes x.

  2. Omg! This poor baby! My cat Truffles one eye was bulging out when we rescued him My hubby plucked him out of the box he was in. When I asked why him he said because he looked like he had no fight left in him and he wanted to try and give him a chance. Thankfully we were able to save his eye, get rid of the fleas and treat his infections. Now he is a thriving kitty full of love and affection! I have no doubt that you can save this baby! Karen’s right. He never would have had a chance if you hadn’t found him. Good luck! hugs and love to Samson!!! ©

  3. Thank you for Samson. I hope a good and long life for this baby and a very good family.

Please keep me posted on this baby. I know he needs a home, I had a cat years ago that lost both eyes as an infant and he was very loving and you wouldn’t even have known that he was blind.

  6. Help the kitty please!

  7. Jennifer Baek says:

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Carol.. of course he is treated, he’s at our clinic.
Prognosis is good.. we are going to wait until his blood levels are totally stabilized and infection has gone down a bit in order to operate him… the procedure will take place on Saturday, we’ll see, I will keep you informed…

      Many thanks Jenny.. thank you

  13. Eileen Werchado says:

I would like to donate for the operation, please let me know the best way to do that. He looks like a strong little guy.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Eileen, on the blog there is a Chipin at the bottom.. that’s the best way, otherwise our paypal address is: donate@letsadoptusa.org

Many thanks for your help.. thank you

  14. Luke Thomas says:

I think you all are very cruel to not to take this kitten to the vet and have it put down. You monsters!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Luke, this kitty is at the vet, and the vet is doing what vets must do, providing veterinary care.
I will send you a picture of him once he is recovered.
Please, use the right word in the future. It’s not put down, it’s Kill.
      Moron.

  15. Sabrina Ecker says:

Luke – you are calling them cruel because they are not killing this little guy but opt to save him and give him the best treatments options available??? Are you listening to yourself??? He can and will be saved with veterinary care, patience and love. Soon he will have a very happy life. You would kill instead of save? Who is the monster here? What an idiot you are.

  16. please let me know what happens! my prayers go out to this kitty :,( wish i really want to donate, but paypal is being weird an saying i need to submit proof of documents , then wait approval? what in the world..

  17. Bree Monroe says:

Luke, we would be ‘monsters’ if we failed to help these animals in need. Just because he has an infection, it does not mean he should die. Your the monster for even suggesting that. Get well soon sweet kitty!!!

  18. Devin Blanks says:

…Never met this cat, but I love him immensely! He’s beautiful to me. I am incredibly happy that you were able to help him. I had the exact same thing happen with a squirrel yesterday, and I brought it to a local wildlife refuge. They are currently working with him/her. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

  19. Thank you so much for helping out this little guy and for all the great work you do for innocent animals! I donated and spread the word about Samson on my social sites. I wish him all the best. I hope he ends up with a fantastic family!

  20. Isabel Carvalho says:

Luke Thomas, whenever I read a comment like yours (and I read those a lot) I’m glad that you are not a vet. You would probably kill every patient coming in because there is something wrong with it.

  21. Andrea Chatman says:

I ‘chipped in’ yesterday, as I think every kitty deserves to live, and I was checking back to see how close we are to Saving Samson. Keep fighting Samson, I’m in your corner Sweetie!

  22. Jodie York says:

    We’re in. 🙂

    TO LIFE!

  23. Hes so precious im just glad we still have great people like you out there

  24. Donated….

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Edil… did you see the update? things are looking for this baby..
      Viktor

  25. I just donated and I am so glad you are helping this baby. For the ones that think he should be killed, I will pray for you because if you ever have kids you should know that doing everything you can for an animal to some people is like doing every thing you can for your child to have a better life.

  26. I wish I could donate, but instead i’m sending lots of thoughts and prayers!

  27. carolyn bonis says:

How could this poor baby get this bad. Was he abused and then discarded? Thank ngod he was found and as bad as he looks I hope he will survive. My god it. Reaks my heart.

  28. donated! I have a kitten who I scooped up in the 100 degree heat, who had the same type of infection. We wound up having to have one of her eyes removed because the herpes virus damaged it terribly. My little Jaine is not much better, but still suffers from some upper respiatory symptoms. You are wonderful for giving this baby a chance. <3

  29. Hi, hows did Samson go at the vet, been thinking about him all day, and what country is he in please, get better Samson

  30. Hi Viktor
Sending all my love & prayers for little Samson. Sorry can’t afford much (on disability) plus both my horses lame, vets bills extortionate (they really do charge a fortune) so I’m sorry, not enough money to go around.

As you can see I have placed Samson on my blog to raise awareness to his cause, hopefully you might get some donations out of it.

I have a Yorkshire Terrier who had to have both eyes taken out within the same week due to retina detachment from glaucoma!.It was so hard for him at first, but now, as long as we don’t move furniture around, he runs round just like my other dogs, I put bells on their collars so he knows where they are.
So if the worst come to it, I’m sure little Samson will get around just fine.
If I can help in any other way, let me know
    God Bless you all

  31. Kelly Irons says:

Samson is looking so much better already!

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a kitty eating a big plate of raw meat. 🙂

  32. Good luck for the little guy! Im sure he will make a wonderfull pet, thank you for saving him! Thought you would like to meet Oscar. He is a blind kitty as well so maybe his parents can give you some pointers ?

  38. Andrea Chatman says:

Samson is looking so much better! I think he is happy to be in a home, with real food and a great pal to play with. Take care of him Monkey, Samson is very special. Keep fighting Samson.

  39. It’s been a couple of days. How is the lil’ guy doing today? I just want to hug him and cuddle him!

  40. To the owner of the page in Face Book.. if you are so into compassion you should prayed about your actions.. I can care less if you deleted me.. But You have to know your evil & cruel and disgusting post about that pet being raped by humans and then killed.. it’s so evil.. Just like your action of posting it… there’s rules about posting crimes with animals kids see this.. are you insane ? sick .. I dont care if you blocked me.. I don’t
You need to know this is sick.. you must be the one … because I see no other person posting this king of cruelty. and evil.. abuse .. this is far more then abuse.. Seek God.. and stop posting this evil pictures. you are sick
    Adios… thank God.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Lucy Lucy Lucy…. sigh…

  41. Can Sunata says:

  43. So, so amazing. So inspiring. Such a testament to the life force and to the healing capability of all beings given the right love and care. Thank you thank you for saving this little beautiful boy.

  44. Linda Somers says:

Hoping all is well with Samson!

  45. Praying hard for this precious kitty! Thank you to the folks working so hard to save him- you’re very special people!!

  46. Katherine K says:

What an intense condition. I know we all are quick to scold Luke, and that he was extremely passionate in his statement too. I do want to recognize that the thought crossed my mind, too, of whether or not this kitten would be better euthanized at the time of his rescue HOWEVER I do want to say, that I caught myself, realizing that you have to leave the decision up to an educated vet and that the ultimate decision is whether or not the animal is in pain. As my cat begins her decline in her terminal disease, this is the main factor in the vet visits I will have to make. Anyway, it looks like Samson is on the mend.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Katherine.. nope… the decision is NOT whether the animal is in pain.. of course the animal is in pain, they all ARE!!!… The decision must based on WHETHER YOU CAN ALLEVIATE THAT PAIN OR NOT…
What is a week of discomfort against 20 years of a full life?

  47. linda housinger says:

You are my hero’s today.I wish te very best outcome for this tiny one.I also pray a blessing into the lives of those taking care of such a tiny little angel! Please let us know how this tiny one progresses???????????I will be sad until I know how this little one grows. This should be on TV to show there is true love out there!!

  48. have faith in this kitty! I adopted from a county shelter a black kitten born on 9-11-01 (how’s that for bad luck poor thing?) who I saw sleeping in a litter box while looking for another kitty that was missing who we later found. “Sera” had a terrible eye infection, baseball sized it seemed and somehow did not lose her eye. She was scheduled to die that afternoon per her cage # at just 5 weeks of age and I just could not leave her there. Now over 11 years later she is still happy and healthy after investing two months of ointments, care and feedings. I agree…what is a little bit of pain if the animal can be saved and go on to a wonderful life in a Forever Home.

  49. Maria Grobbelaar says:

I AM an animal rescuer, like you….my Amy had the same eye infection as Samson, and she lost that eye obviously. Her whiskers on that side of her face are much longer …nature compensates. She is a bouncy, feisty girl today, will always be a small kitty, because of the bad start she had to life….Still mourning Biscuit on this side of the world…I know you did all you could….Thank you for helping Biscuit, Monkey and Samson, and all the others I dont even know about. Bless you!

  50. My donation to Samson is in honor of Biscuit. I sure miss that sweet little guy…Good luck Samson, you’re in good hands!

  51. Gina Sampson says:

Lucy really needs a grammar lesson. The ignorant just love to yell & bully people, don’t they? She should worry more about kids looking at porn sites than educating themselves on animal cruelty & learning how to stop it. “Parents” like Lucy obviously thing sheltering her kids from the bad things in life will make them better adults. WRONG! Children are smarter than most parents think. They want to learn & help make this world a better place. Shame on Lucy, the ignorant angry bully.
