Every once in a while someone approaches us and puts amazing talent at our disposal.
David Gross has reported war and human rights-related stories since 1999. The recipient of a World Press Photo award in 2003 he feels at home in places where most of us would die in an instant.
Claire Berlinski is a Phd in International relations, writer, journalist and citizen of the world. She has written for a wide scope of publications from the Oxford International Review to Playboy Magazine.
Both of them are great animal lovers.
Today I’m going to share with you what is probably their most special and intimate work. An amazing combination of photography, design and storytelling. The Seven Cats of Istanbul.
David and Claire have graciously agreed to put this beautiful story in our hands with the aim of spreading awareness about the plea of stray animals in Istanbul. So, please, return the favor and share it!… you can email it to friends, you can share it in your social media networks, you can download it and keep it, show it to your kids, print it and hang it in your wall, you can do just about anything with it except publishing it yourself or turn it into a movie (you need to talk to them about that 🙂
Enjoy… (better viewed full screen)
OMG! That was such a cool way to tell their story! I want to read more!!! Claire is so ME! I’d be in the same boat if I lived there. After visiting Istanbul twice, following around a stray dog one night, (we lost track of her after buying food for her, walked around all night looking for her) trying to feed her, desperately wanting to help, seeing the fear in her eyes…..my bf asked “what would you do if we find her? Why do you think you can help?” I told him, in complete certainty, “If I find her, I will take her home with me, to Canada” I was dead serious, he thought I was nuts….
Fantastic.I love Claire & David and give them thanks for sharing their wonderful life with us.I love all their kitties and bless them for rescuing these precious babies.
“I’m 36,David. I don’t have forever.”~~Best pic ever,made my day.
Made me smile! Sounds very familiar. Beautifully done!
Wow–this is wonderful. It’s of the caliber of “Maus,” in my opinion. I look forward to reading more.
We also rescue and rehome orphaned/injured/sick kittens. We adopted a little black kitten with a respiratory infection that took 5 months to cure. His story is very much like that of the black kitten in the story. Thanks for such a neat story!
