The following images were published in one of Turkish leading newspapers last weekend.

As every citizen of any turkish city will confirm they are not an isolated incident.

If children are the future of our nation… what kind of country are we building?

Please share these images in your social networks… with a bit of luck parents will get to see what their kids are doing after class…

  1. That is disgusting and If I were turkish Id feel ashamed and embarrassed!

  2. Rita Shortern-Rule says:

Since I’ve lived here I’ve come to the conclusion that Turkish children are not disciplined. They seem to be able do do what they like. Looking at the above photos just proves my point!

  3. Nathalie Kinge in Holland says:

No, this is Turkey now. A sick nation with no respect for animals. I’ve seen enough over the years.

  4. ayşen ertür says:

as a turkish citizen i am embarrassed and ashamed and disgusted, but sadly, not surprised.
we do not love animals, we do not love humans, we do not even love ourselves.
we have no respect for our own lives, so how can we respect the lives of others?
it is not the children, but the parents that need to be educated. The legal system, although somnewhat better than the past, still is not implemented properly. torturing animals is an adult pastime, so why should it not be a pastime for kids as well?
    my heart breaks!

  5. these children will deal no better with other people if they are not taught in no uncertain terms that this is unacceptable, morally corrupt, evil, cruel and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. it is truly disturbing that this is how they choose to amuse themselves left to their own devices.

unfortunately for some of these children, schools must teach them such less in the absence of parental guidance. in the end it does not matter where or how they learn this lesson, only that it is learned and never forgotten. leaving children to learn only the ways of hate, violence, anger and cruelty is child abuse.

  6. lynda chabane says:

I feel absolute shame for these kids parents……what happened to Mans Best Friend!!!!!!!
    Evil little bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Melissa Hornung says:

I really hate to see this. I just rescued two pittbuLl pups from a shelter that was going to kill them due to the “aggressive” nature of the breed. The most exploited breed of dog here in the United States is the pittbull for this very reason. They have been basterdised by the people like Michael Vick and given a bad reputation for being human agressive which is farthest from the truth. They are outlawed in many cities because of fight rings and they are most often destroyed when seized or surrendered to a shelter. When are we going to stop tolerating these crimes globaly? Only we can make a difference. Google Michael Vick and dog fighting crimes in the US and write to the Turkish paper to publish an article on whether or not they think the children of Turkey should be doing what is pictured here.

  8. There is no need to be nationalist.

  9. Christine Dierckx says:

This is so disgusting. I hate to see this and I feel ashamed that people and children don’t feel more respect for our best friends. Sad, sad, sad

  10. Christine Dierckx says:

And it’s not the Turkey of the future, is Turkey now !!!!

  11. Yes, as a turkish citizen I feel ashamed and disgusted. Most of all very very sad.

But it is unfair to classify a whole nation as “sick” Ms. Kinge or categorize the children as “undisciplned” Ms. Shortren-Rule, I am sure there are many sick people and out-of-control kids in Holland as well as all over the world. Having lived many years in Europe and US, I have seen animals being hanged from trees, pits fought to death, kittens thrown to pitbulls to induce aggression, dogs bred to death in tiny cages, pups tied along the highways as their owners were going on a vacation — hundreds of them only in France. Bulls tortured and killed in grand spectacle in Spain. Not willing to engage in a debate with you over which nation is sicker, whose kids are worse, however, these comments are incredibly upsetting for many people who are fighting tooth and nail despite dire and desperate circumstances.

There are hundreds if not thousands of people in Turkey who have devoted their lives to help animals in need, who try to educate their children to love all creatures and raise them as good people. Many who leave food & water on the street corners for strays, many who spare every extra dollar to buy food and go out in the middle of the night to feed animals. Please don’t insult them and do not underestimate their effort by stigmatizing them.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Bade, as you know I agree with you BUT make no mistake.. people like you, and others like you, are an exception here.
Pitbulls are the most abused dogs in the planet, Bullfights are a shame in countries like Spain, France, but Let’s Adopt! is based in Turkey, it is our obligation to do all we can to improve the situation here.
Our French, USA, Canadian networks are dealing with the situations in their own countries, but we are here, in Istanbul.
Someone wrote here today that I should be cleaning my own home. Well.. that’s what I’m doing. Turkey is my home now.

  12. Laura Davis says:

Shame… we have the problem here in the states. It is sad and disgusting. Change needs to happen all over the world!!

  13. pia schachtschabel says:

this is sick , and need to be stoped . wake up people … dogs are human beings , and one day they will pay us for what you are doing to them …

  14. I think what I find most disturbing about these images is the fact that these are CHILDREN fighting these dogs. Children ARE our future,or at least that is what we have been lead to believe, if it is true, THIS is what Turkey has to look forward to. Yet ANOTHER generation that sees animal abuse as a way of life! Scary thought!

  15. This is not a surprise. This is one of the inevitable consequences of how children are educated(!) and treated in Turkey. They first meet with violence in their families when parents tell them what not to do when they are just little kiddies. Then in schools, they meet with violence in various shapes, teachers(!) communicate with them via violence. Gradually children learn how to express themselves using violence. It becomes a normal, an ordinary communication method for them. And should they find a poor, defenceless creature; they immediately apply what they’ve learned since their childhood. So that is very very normal, although it is very very sad.. Could you expect a result other than this? What you put is what you get, so simple.. And yes, that’s actually what we have to fight against at all costs. We won’t see this anymore when we manage to teach our children how to communicate with love, tolerance and kindness with all creatures.

  16. For the love of God, this is a sad picture of our future. They are children and seem to be enjoying watching the dogs tear each other apart. The children need an education in humane treatment of animals. They are being influenced by dog fighters. If we know where the people who fight dogs are located, and it IS ILLEGAL why can’t they be shut down for good, save and rehabilitate the dogs and find them homes, charge the people who do this for money!!! These images make me so very sick. We need a worldwide hunt for all the people who fight dogs, shut them down and save what dogs can be saved!!!! This is totally out of hand all over the world, AND I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THE DOG FIGHTING BUSINESSES ARE NOT BEING SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!

  17. this part of the world will never be civil. it’s a shame they want respect but they can not give any respect to anything not their animals or themselves.

  18. ufuk anatca says:

i am wondering what are you thinking about killing whales????
bye the way these kids are kurdish kids not turkish.
and you cant categorise people like this than i have to say to norwegian satanist.
to germans nazis …… you can find in every country things like this can happens but the thing is that you are happy when you see something like this now we can speak about turkish people yupiii.
but dont forget first clean your own house.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Ufuk, there is no justification WHATSOEVER about Killing Whales.
Most of us are campaign against that horrible practice.
The images you saw were published in Hurriyet last weekend and they are very very common.
I live in Istanbul, Turkey. I’m cleaning my own house.
      Are you? You should.

  19. maria kagelind says:

Have you sent this pictures to the Turkish Government?
Can you make a petition to sign?
Is there any addresseas where we can sign a letter as you can help writing.
We have to help with this….we have to.

    love m Stockholm

  20. it is necessary for kids to learn about humanity in scool and about contact with animals.

  21. I’d like to see these kids in a ring fighting each other with chains on their necks & unable to escape.
    Hate breeds hate.

  22. This is horrible. Has no one already stoped them. Human correction, government correction ? These dogs do not even look like pitbulls. Stop it now. Find out who those kids are.

  23. Corey Bond says:

This is absolutely terrible. Its because of people like Michael Vic, who because of his stardom in American athletics/football, and is a ROLL MODEL for children, this is now happening with children!!! The world is broken and needs to be fixed quickly!!!

  24. the only way to change the future for animals in this world, to stop abuse and killing of animals is to change the way that children think, this can only be done in schools, animal welfare should be on the curriculum of every school at an early age, kids generally love animals when they are small, they lose thier compassion whilst growing up amongs adults who see animal cruelty as an acceptable thing and pass this on to thier children, these kids are our future, and as long as they see this happening they are going to grow up with no respect for the lives of helpless animals, and the cycle of abuse just goes on and on…its time that the world stopped ignoring the horrors and started dealing with it, and this begins with changing attitudes at an early age!!

  25. Argh, disgusting. Sadly they are children but there are even adults enjoying this!

  26. my god plssss,,that s not realıty turkey,may be afganıstan or ıran,ırag or russıan,,that s wer y horrıble ı m from turkey,ı lıve ın turkey ı have got 2 dogs they are my lıfe…

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Orcun… sorry man.. it’s Turkey.
I’m glad you love your dogs. You and others like you are an exception here. It’s sad but it’s the truth.

  27. speaks so much about what their parents are teaching them & knowing what they are in to~

  28. nazli orhon says:

awfull disguasting Ireally dont know what to say

  29. Totally agree with Anne Hoesch. Compassion is the key word and children should be educated as early age as possible that animals should be treated well.
I am truly sorry to see the pictures – it might happen here in Indonesia too, not only in Turkey.

  30. Tourism in dog unfriendly countries –
Be aware, there is a move afoot in the international dog welfare community to promote boycotts against countries that allow the mistreatment of dogs at this level.
I for one would love to visit the ancient ruins in Turkey, but am now boycotting this country until it changes its attitude towards dogs. I am not alone.

  31. Sheila White says:

I am just sick for the poor animals. There is “underground” dog fighting here because it is illegal. It happens everywhere. There are just so many fronts on which we need to fight for animal rights. The adults are not doing the children any good allowing them to do this either. : (

  32. Lina Herzig says:

Children need to be educated. This is the present of Turkey and of almost all the countries. I remember 26 years ago I was in a beach village in Venezuela and my twins came horrified to tell me that some “muchachos” were playing football in the beach using a kitten instead of a ball! When I got there, of course the poor kitten was dead! Children are cruel if not educated. One of the tasks we have to accomplish is EDUCATE CHILDREN and teach them respect and compasion otherwise they will not be humans but monsters.

  33. those kids should be caught and have their asses beaten by a group of adults. I get to the point where I HATE kids.!!! They reap what they harvest I know, but if I had parents that were in-humane I would try to b different. Sometimes I think people like this should just be shot…Their a waste of skin and air.!!!

  34. Nur Aykurt says:

These are not normal children, they are future serial killers. cruelty v unfortunately is everywhere. we need real stiff penalties all over the world. My way of thinking is eye to eye, tooth to tooth. One more thing, people who insult a whole nation are simply without family education.

  35. the1stjerm says:

Has greed desensitised us so much that human beings are the cancer that will ultimately destroy our world and everything in it?

  36. sadly it’s done all over the world… even in so called pet loving nations. humans are a horrible species. but one day we’ll be wiped out and the next species to follow will hopefully be a better one than us! there’s too many bad ones out there to help the animal population of the world realistically

  37. Helen King says:

These children MUST be severely punished!!! and educated about animal welfare!!!

  38. Pat Goldberg says:

Who took these pictures. Why did they not stop those kids.
