Every crossposter should read this… before Crossposting it.. 🙂
Facebook and social media are amazing tools for spreading ideas, that is clear, but, are we using the tools right?
I say we don’t.
Sharing is what Facebook is based on, not so long ago we were all trying to keep our ideas, tastes and preferences to ourselves, social media and the massive success of Facebook changed everythingl
The average Facebook member has about 150 “connections” on his list, so, in theory, whenever you share something in your Wall, whatever it is you are sharing should have the potential to reach an amazing number of people, but does it?
No. Not really… Most of the times you are sharing to yourself. I know it’s hard to accept this but it is a fact.
How to make the FB thingy work for us?
1. Most of us still keep our connections to a minimum. Wrong move. Nobody interesting in spreading a cause and making change should harbor such concerns any longer. Our contact lists should be an ever growing one but…
2. “Know your friends”. How well can you “know” someone in Facebook?. Clearly, not so well, however, Facebook allows you, in a glimpse, to have a complete of what a person is all about. Make an effort in getting to know those on your list, or at least stablish a meaningful rapport. You never know when it may prove useful.
3. Share, share, share!!!!… The action of sharing will not only help you spread whatever it is you want to spread, it will also attract likeminded people with whom you share interests.
4. Start a blog. Helping other’s ideas is very nice, and we thank you for it, but you surely have something to say. I’m convinced you have something unique to offer to the world, something you want to change, a need to express something else other than our ideas. A blog is the perfect tool to do this. I cannot tell you how interested I am to learn more about you, a blog is the perfect way to reach our to the world and share your knowledge and interests.
5. Be focussed but not boring. Life is not, cannot, must not be only about animals. We all have, or should have, several interests. Explore them… Learn…. Grow.
Share more with the world.
Start a Blog, a movement of your own…

Hey Vik 🙂 Have a look at my blog … May be you can introduce some good ideas. I have a nice crowd of about 5 K … Hope you enjoy your visit 🙂
This is an excellent article on crossposting and encourages me to keep on..
Point number 5 “BE FOKUSED BUT NOT BORING” is essential for me because I tend to fokus all on animals what is definitely not useful neither to me nor to the others nor to my engagement. Thanks for these inspiring thoughts!!
I found this very interesting. Glad you let us in on it!!

I completely agree, and have contemplated the best way to move all these good intentions forward. Social Media is an incredible tool, but leveraging it’s incredible power to reach millions (yes millions) is the key to being successful.
It’s important to keep a balance in your postings, or your “main stream friends” will start hiding you…..these are the people you need to reach and beyond.
I am currently developing a second generation app. for facebook that will aid animal advocates in addressing the issues they face….please stay tuned more updates are coming!
Melissa.. no.. not really…
if someone hides our work then those were not mean to be part of our group in the first place…
Don’t know if this is the proper place to say something about FaceBook. there has been several post lately from LetsAdopt. One of the last ones your were talking of not using VFace Book Viktor. I would miss you and your posts there dearly. Look forward to hear what is happening to everything with you. Myself I like FaceBook alot.. I met LetsAdopt thru it and many other rescues and animal saviors. Everyday I see an animals saved by some of the crossposts and comments. Its worth it even for one but there are more. Of course we all know there are many many more not saved but at least some are trying/ pulling, transporting, rescueing….. and a few are saved. And animal abuse is fought/ petitions signed/ pressure put on to catch abusers (punishment is not enough as we all know)/ but alot of things happen… I am a couch potatoe. Have 2 rescued pitties. At 1 time I had 10 rescues and 7 feral cats…. until the neighbors complained about the dogs and I had to obey the 3 dog/ 4 pet limit… after 2 hearings. Too long a story for now.
But now I am in a wheel chair alot of the time /or with a cane.. so I use my computer. And found FaceBook and can do something. Its never enough but we can try and sometimes succeed. I do still occassionally assist several local rescues at adoption events. And occasionally help transport. But not like I use too.
Pat, of course FB is a great tool, we have used it to great success.
We all limitations, of course… but we must ask ourselves… how far are we willing able to risk in order to achieve change?
FB alone will not take us too far…
xx
