Alex was born in Izmir, Turkey.

His first weeks were spent with his mother, probably in someone’s backyard.

Soon he found himself on the streets, wagging his tail begging for food. His sweet nature and friendly character made him a favourite with the local fish restaurants who made sure there were always some left overs for him.

Alex didn’t have a home but he was happy.

Everything ended that one morning, a strong impact followed by a intense burning heat.

Alexander woke up in a shelter. His leg was missing. He was allowed to stay there for a week but was them dumped on the streets again.

There are no homes for dogs like Alex in Turkey. Dogs are a status symbol in this country. Dogs need to be perfect. Nothing less than perfect will do for the average turkish household.

Alex was rescued by one of our members and placed in a pension. He has been staying there for months, recovering from his injuries and getting used to his new life.

In this video you can see how well he is doing.

Alex is not a street dog anymore. We have found him a family in Belgium. He will be living there with one other dog and three cats in a magnificent home with an incredible family. We couldn’t find anybody like this here.

Nobody wanted him. Some “animal lovers” went as far as saying that a Turkish dog should die on Turkish soil… would you believe that?

We need your help to fly Alex and other dogs like him home. We are currently raising funds to cover all the procedures of geting Alex, Tiny, Bertha, Hope, Pipas and others in their new homes overseas.

Alex needs you. I would please ask you to go to our Chip In on the right side or the blog or click directly here and help us getting him to his new home. Any amount, no matter how small will help getting these wonderful animals to their new families.

Help them please…

Viktor Larkhill

Note:  HERE you can see some of the dogs that found a home overseas… all of them incredible stories..

  1. No animal, dog/cat/ferret/raccoon……any animal should “be left to die on ….Insert here… soil” I will always donate what I can!

    Chipped in!

  2. “…..a Turkish dog should die on Turkish soil”?????I am shaking my head in disgust.Better to let an animal die on his birth soil than be saved, rehomed in another country and happy??Sounds so wrong and so sad.Thank Goodness for Let’s Adopt for not believing that mindset.Much happiness in Belgium Alex,xx

Yes Sissy… unfortunately this is what we are up against..

      xx

  3. This brought tears to my eyes that Alexander is now in good hands of those who will bring him to a safe home forever & I had tears of sadness as I thought of my own three-legged cat. What would have happened to her in a place like this. It’s just so sad that people cannot see beyond their ownselves and they are blinded by such ignorance.

I cant bekieve the idiotic person that made such a ridiculous comment…..No-one wants him in Turkey permanently, which is the very reason for him going abroad!! God bless the person in Belgium who is going to give him the life he so richly deserves. To see his beautiful bushy tail wagging so gloriously makes me very happy for him. Pay day 2moro Viktor, so will chip in a little to help…wish it could be more but every little helps. Be happy Alex xx

  7. I had to come back and comment again. After this trauma Alex was only allowed a week in the shelter before being dumped on the streets. One week after losing a leg?Mind blowing. He was definitely set up for disaster, almost certain death.I am so happy he has a home waiting for him and in my eyes he is perfect.

i am so glad to see that there is hope…… and stories with endings like that makes me smile and makes me cry… people that makes stupid remarks like that….obviously never share his or her life with an animal. and hopefully they wont, they have no love in their heart….. or just ignorant…. thank you for all you do, and i wish i could do more…. god bless.
