Golden Kokoreç: Criminal behaviour

This morning we received an email from Ercan ERDOĞAN, the owner of Golden Kokorec, the restaurant currently all over the news because of their unfortunately decision to display a live crocodile inside a glass box in their restaurant.

In his letter this morning, Mr. Erdogan went on to explain how he is a great animal lover and that he wanted to share his love of crocodiles with the world by displaying EFE in such manner.

I will spare you the details of the rest of the letter, it was ridiculous.

But the story doesn’t end here….

This morning, before visiting the mosque for his daily prayers, a gun-carrying Erdogan, removed the crocodile from the restaurant, and got rid of it in a style reminiscent of Turkish mafia movies.

Mr. Erdogan, must have thought that getting rid of the animal would calm things down. What he doesn’t understand is that this is barely the beginning, and that once the case has hit the news and mainstream media the attention wont go away that easily.

The municipal police visited the establishment yesterday and were extremely upset at the sight of the poor animal. Charges have been filed against the establishment who is likely to have to pay a substantial fine.

Mr. Erdogan will now be questioned by the media and by hundreds of indignant citizens demanding for answers.

1. What has happened to EFE the crocodile?
2. Where have they placed the animal?
3. Where did they buy the animal from in the first place?

This is a very sad story that unfortunately reflects a sad reality in Turkish society, the traffic and exploitation of living beings, both animals and humans, in the hope of financial gain.

Crocodile meat is usual fare in most African countries, Nigeria, Cameroun, Congo… we certainly hope that Turkey has not been added to the list of countries where crocodile is served for lunch.
