As I hold Rania´s tiny body in my hands I struggle to contain my tears and can only ask myself… how can this world be so cruel?

She was born in the garbage…

There she was, both eyes literally coming out of her head and trying in vain to find something to eat under the garbage containers.

She is barely two months old and she has already experienced the worst things in life. None of the good ones. The loss of her family, the loss of her sight, the tremendous pain carrying that pair of exploded eyes causes her.

Rania2

Imagine for a second what her life has been until now. A quick descending veil of painful darkness taking away EVERYTHING she has ever known.

This is the condition in which Rania has arrived to us… literally at death´s door. She´s so weak we can´t even draw blood for a preliminary test.

photo-67

Rania is going to lose both eyes, they are too far gone, but she is too weak to withstand such operation right now. We need to stabilise her first, make her gain the necessary strength for such a traumatic surgery… we can´t delay this much further, she won´t be able to resist the pressure building on her head for much longer.

It´s a balancing act. I promise you we are going to do our best.

Please WATCH THIS VIDEO and you´ll understand what we are fighting against..

The moment Rania arrived to us we´ve had to hear the cynical voices of those that would rather have her killed instead of offering her life back, albeit as a blind kitty. Where do you stand?

photo-67 copy

Rania has been operated!!!!…

It was a tremendous risk to operate a kitty in her condition but the truth is, we had nothing to lose.  The only alternative was death.

photo-67 copy 2

Rania was incredibly strong, and she came out of the anaesthesia very well.. now.. look at this VIDEO and IMAGINE HOW MUCH BETTER SHE FEELS!!!!

RANIA 1 – Those that wanted us to kill her 0

When RANIA was rescued many people rushed to her rescue, they donated, shared, many applied to adopt her.
Sadly, a surprising number of people said it was cruel to keep her alive, just because she would be blind.
Today RANIA is adopted and waiting to go home in the USA and she has a great lesson to teach us all…
No matter how much you dislike the idea of being blind … Don’t kill blind kitties for god sake!!!

November 18…

RANIA AND I ARE IN HOLLAND!!!

Tomorrow I will return to Spain and Rania will fly to Boston, United States (obviously duh!)… It will be an extremely long flight but she will be on Isabel’s lap, cuddling all along…

November 20…

RANIA IS FINALLY HOME!!!

And what a trip that was!!! From Spain, to Amsterdam and then direct to Boston!!!! First thing she did when getting off her travel carrier, she started looking around for toys to play with!!!

Have a look at these incredible pictures… what a difference to the old broken kitty we rescued… the one so many people DEMANDED we should kill because she would have no life!!!

I have been following and donating Let´s Adopt for three years now and you have never let me down.
Time after time, animal after animal you given us the chance to achieve something bigger than ourselves.
We can´t let Rania fight this on her own.
    Count us in! Donated!

  2. Lynn crago says:

    Please try and save Raina

  3. I have a blind cat at home — he was blind from birth. He can navigate the house perfectly and interacts well with our other cats. He’s one of the most loving, stubborn, wonderful cats I’ve ever had the privilege to know. Being blind doesn’t mean a thing to him (or us) and won’t stop Rania from living a wonderful life with her forever family!

  4. marion crist says:

  5. Tracy Somers says:

Have donated 10 dollars, sorry it couldn’t be more but I hope it helps.

  6. Rob (Cyprus) says:

Exactly the same thoughts as Mike Graham, been following and donating for nearly two years. You amaze me with the work you do, restores my faith in humanity. Extra donation for this little kitty, everything crossed for her. Well done Viktor

  7. Brian Coffey says:

Just sent a small $20 donation. I wish it could be more, but we have our own special needs cat and she needs a procedure soon. Thank you for saving Raina.

  8. Dayna Staples says:

I have only been following this page for a couple of months. I’ve seen wonderful things. I’ve seen really sad things. But this kitten has me in tears just from the picture! My heart is broken and I want to DO something. Since I am not in a position to help financially, I am doubly heartbroken. I want to thank everyone who does have the resources and the heart to donate to help these animals. I also want to say thank you to this foundation, the people who work so hard to save these animals and give them the opportunity to become beloved pets. I truly believe if I had the funds and space, I’d be the crazy cat lady. Because I want them all. Praying that this little angel is given the life she deserves. Thanks again.

  9. Dimi Tzounakos says:

small donation on the way, we lost Candy, then Ari. Rania must win this, so thank you for taking care of her.
best to you and yr med team
    Dimi

  10. You’ve done it again… I’m sure that nobody’s looking for a blind kitten, but just because she’s blind doesn’t mean that her life should end…I can’t donate much, but both my companions (a pit bull and a gorgeous tortie feline…) said I had to do something for her, so here I am…take good care of her and find her a great furever home…she deserves that…and much more…God Bless Rania…

  11. Have been donating on a regular basis; please help this baby

  12. I am donating right now, this is heartbreaking. And gruesome. I have been following this page for only a couple of months, and have wanted to donate to everything, but this has torn my heart out. But can you explain, what has happened to the poor little thing? Do you know what the condition is? I’ve never seen nor heard of it..
Nonetheless, I will donate because I WANT her to survive. FIngers crossed kitty. xxxx

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Dear Vanessa.. it´s called herpesvirus and it´s a very common virus that affects feral kitties.
You don´t get to see it because far too often ferals are killed without even getting a chance.. 🙁

  13. Shared her on facebook. I can’t imagine why anyone would want this precious little girl to die. So glad you are helping her. From what I have seen blind cats can live just as good of a life as a sighted cat.

  14. I am donating to help Rania, I hope this sweet little girl makes it through this! Please people if you can help, donate or share or both! Come on Rania, fight this! You will get a loving home after all that’s happened to you!

  15. This little ball of fur must have a chance to know the feeling of life as it should be. Warm loving hands to hold her and a safe place to learn how to play and snuggle. Sending a donation with my prayers and a kiss….

  16. What a sweet kitten this little girl is. I would adopt her in a minute. I am sure she will be just fine after her surgery. Can you give us an update on her condition? Would love to hear about her progress.

  17. She will be beautiful I am sure and deserves a wonderful home! I hope she can be given something for the pain? My heart aches when I see this and it is just too often. God Speed to you and your staff…

  18. Rania is the most beautiful kitten…..thank you for saving her from certain death. I am sure you will do your best to make her comfortable and well enough to remove the ruptured eyes. She is very young and can adapt to the blindness and have a wonderful life with a loving family. Donating for Rania’s care and surgery. She is very special, I wish she were here in the US where I could cuddle her and give her comfort and care. Thank you Viktor for all that you do for these lost souls.

  19. oh my god .. please help her

  20. Sylvie Auger says:

Thank you to help this little girl, dear Viktor. I send you a donation and share on Facebook. My heart is with you both.

  21. I just arrived from South America, I can’t believe the human monster could do, I hope they get what they deserve, by October 3 I get my money and send you a donation for that beautiful baby.
I just love what you are doing, no matter what never give up. Many blessings for the doctors, nurses and all personnel. Kiss the babyfor and tell her she has to be brave.

  22. Susan Trout says:

Oh, how I pray that this tiny little one can gain enough strength to undergo the surgery. Perhaps it’s more important to go forward with the operation, knowing she may not make it, than to wait until she’s bigger and stronger. This poor, tiny creature. Please keep us updated. Whatever the outcome, I know little Rania will have experienced love, tenderness and the best that humankind can offer. I love you all.

  23. robin carson says:

What causes the eyes to do that? Sorry, but I have a science type of brain, and I tend to want to know such things….Poor baby, soon she will be all fixed up. Positive vibes your way, kitty!

  24. Sending donation now. So heartbreaking to see this baby suffering like this, and so grateful she found her way to you. Where is the kitty located? Since she will need a home, I will share her after she gets well, with her location.

    ~Swati

  25. Renee Bradshaw says:

I love all of my cats so very much they are my babies and would love to have her forever and give hers lots of hugs kisses and food and a warm forever home. I’m praying so very hard for little Rania and God bless you all.

  26. donated. Please, please help this little baby. And keep us in the loop as to how it goes. Prayers are with her and all of you. I am in tears…

  27. Elizabeth Nuzum says:

please save this little girl. she deserves a good life.

  28. I have donated for Rania’s care and surgery. I follow your rescue daily and I know she will get the best care and treatment. Poor little baby, I hope she makes it through. Thank you for caring for her.

  29. Katie LaRoche says:

It all comes down to quality of life. If you believe that her current life can be fixed, then I totally support you in saving her. There is nothing wrong with trying. Being a blind kitty isn’t synonymous with being unhappy. To those cynical voices: animals matter. We need to save them if we can. It’s our responsibility to make them happy.

  30. I really feel this young kittens pain & suffering. Do you think you could sign up for a bitcoin type of account & put a donate button on the site or send me the wallet address. If you don’t know how to get started with bitcoin then please go over to the foundation’s website and I have wrote 2 posted articles & I intend to do more. If you have any questions no matter how silly you might think it sounds just drop me a line and I will do my best to get back to you quick. The only time I am not at the computer is when I am asleep, going to the bathroom or to the VA medical center. I love the internet and want to do something to help this poor kitten but I don’t have any cash to spare but I will give some of my bitcoin. I love animals.

  31. I got in a hurry and left the Y off of my name. It should be Thom Dickey. Sorry

  32. Please saved her

  33. Ute Brixius says:

I admire you that you can all this misery and torment that are done to animals endure. I can barely look at me without feeling physical pain there. I thank you for everything you do for these poor creatures. I have donated 10 Euros for this poor girl.

  34. Daniel Speed says:

$20.00 donated, please do your best to save her life. you are all amazing. It’s the smallest acts of kindness repeated countless times which change our world for the better.

  35. Lisa Reynolds says:

God bless you and God bless little Rania. I pray for a full recovery and healing of her little body. She is a beautiful little baby who deserves all the love in the world.

  36. Maritza Sahlin says:

    Hi!
I want to know why the eyes are så big. I understand at that are sickness eyes but what doing them so big and cruel?
Because you have some cats as have this sick eyes. I hope Rania get best family to take care of her. I wish the best for her and the other animals.

  37. Chipped in what I could afford for sweet Rania. God bless this little girl & all the LAG team, as always, for trying to right a wrong world, one animal at a time.

  38. Michelle Rafferty says:

this one is a little fighter so don’t give up on her. my dog started to loose his sight at 5 and a year and a half later it went completely. now he has had his eye’s removed he is happy again and so will this little one once she is strong enough xx

  39. I saw this little baby and am so grateful you are there for her!

  40. We have a kitty who had a similar situation in one eye, it was removed, vet said perhaps due to thyroid issue. Kitty has unfortunately gone blind in other eye, but is doing fine! He particularly knows where the kitchen is and navigates inside the house and outside in our fenced backyard and thru the kitty door whenever he wants (along with our other kitties) no problem! Wishing this little kitty all the best! (donated)

  41. Sue Swartz says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being willing to see this sweet baby through her pain & anguish & on to a much better life! I rescued a 6 month old kitty who was wandering around our neighborhood with one eye recently removed (her stitches were still intact) and having had
rolled in feces. After talking her “owner” into allowing us to have her, we took her home as we felt she was very vulnerable to the predator animals that lived in the hills behind our home and was being neglected. She grew & thrived and much to my dismay, she caught more birds than any cat I knew with two eyes (I’m a bird lover). Rania can live a long and fulfilling life without sight, as long as she can flourish under love & nurture, which I know has already begun. I am giving a small donation in Tigger’s memory.

  42. Ralf Lenhard says:

I will donate for Rania and pray for her. I hope she will get well soon after the surgery.

  43. Really wish I could help but no income at the moment, don’t get any state help so struggling to survive. What I will say, is despite the horrible conditions of her eyes, she is still a beautiful kitten. One of my cats went blind due to old age – she lived to be over 22 years old but it didn’t stop her doing anything, including jumping onto her favourite place – a high chest of drawers with a TV on top. She used to sit on top of the TV so I’m sure Rania will get along just fine. The most important thing is to remove those eyes which must be causing here a lot of pain and discomfort, nurse her back to health and find a truly loving forever home for her. Perhaps you could do something for me – give her a hug and a kiss from me x

  44. Please save Raina! I am so heartbroken so seen the aftermath of whatever horror she’s been subjected to already in 2 months of life. She’s a fighter and deserves to be able to live out her life. To all of those who feel otherwise, I seriously question your motives and suspect are making such judgments from a very selfish and narcissistic place and I am personally hoping you are able to see the value in people and animals who may been disfigured in some way. If you ever get to know any of those victims or ever become one yourself you will find they are no less deserving of life than anyone else and it’s very shortsighted to think otherwise.

  45. I stand right next to you. Or that is just what I’d wish for.
    Donation coming your way.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks for your help… Together we can do miracles. Thank you!

  46. Jacqueline Robinson says:

Thank you Viktor again for all you do for these sweet babies. This little girl deserves a chance at life and don’t let anyone tell you any different. I hope and pray she will get through the surgery well and get another chance at a good life. I donated a small amount and am sharing this beautiful baby girl on my FB page. Prayers be with her tomorrow~

  47. Corinne Arel says:

Ignore the people who put their ignorant comments. If they were to go blind one day, should someone put them down??! Your work is such a gift. Rania deserves a decent loving life and home, especially after all she has been through in her short time here. The behavior of so many people and the injustice for the innocent creatures of God throughout this world is mind-boggling. It’s disgusting. I hope Karma visits ‘them’ one day. As for positive thoughts, may God hover over as you operate on ‘our’ Rania tomorrow. I donated earlier to help her. I have only known Let’s Adopt for about one month and I’ve donated three times. I will continue. Keep the faith and please continue your mission.
    Corinne

  48. Lee Priday says:

What nonsense to talk about killing her – we don’t kill blind people do we? She will adapt and have a good life once she’s in her forever home. Thankyou LAG!

  49. Darlene Beauchamp says:

Please take care of this precious baby and make her well. Yes she deserves to have a life, one where she is loved. Thank you so much for all you do, God bless you!

  50. susan gordon says:

I suppose these are the same folks who had NO faith in HELEN KELLER
who was blind and deaf. RANIA ,we will learn from her as we learned from Helen Keller.
    will donate !

  51. Kerry Himmel says:

Anyone know what caused her eyes to be like this??? What happened to her family, cat AND human??

  52. This is the saddest thing I have ever seen in my life I literally started crying. Im broke right now but when I get my check I WILL be donating a little. I cant do to much as I have bills and stuff to pay. This totally broke my heart. Where is the link to this on facebook? I will share this with my friends to help out poor rania. Was she born like this or did someone do this to her?

  53. This is a very sad story and I am happy that someone is helping her. If she needs a home, I have one! I will adopt her and love her. She deserves to be comfortable and loved forever.

  54. Invisigoth says:

Please save this precious baby. I hope she is strong enough to prove the doubters wrong.

  55. Take heart! This exact thing happened to my sister’s rescue, Buttons. Though she lives a meager life, my sister went into great debt to save Buttons, who has the most blessed life and adapted beautifully. IN FACT, you would never know he lost his eyes, he is into more than the other cats.

  56. I’m kinda broke right now so I could only donate $5 but I just had to. Thank you for being kind and working to help these animals.

  57. Sean Daniel says:

I had a wee kitten once, she had something wrong her one eye, vet said if it got worse (it didn’t) that it would have to be removed. She was a a normal happy kitty all her life. So please save this little kitten and let her find a forever home!

  58. how about asking blind cat rescue if theybcan take care of rania ? http://blindcatrescue.com has help many other blind cats and iounderstands their needs.

  59. As a Vet Tech, I want people to be educated on the importance of vaccinating, spaying and neutering. And the amazing feral cat programs. This can be prevented and WOW what a tough lil critter! She will make someone a beautiful member of their family. Blind cats do not have a handicap, they just adapt. Congrats to your team for helping her and keep us updated! Donated and shared! Sincerely, Steph RVT

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Steph!!!! Thank you for being there for Rania.. Viktor..

  60. I have written to you Viktor in hopes of adopting Rania…I’m willing to drive to get her!!! Please let me know asap. Tyvm! !!

  61. lynette Hutson says:

Donation from Australia. Get better little one. Xx

  62. Please let me know how she is doing and when she is available for adoption

  63. Where is Rania located?

  64. Jonnie Egleston says:

I am sending lots of healing prayers that way. I wish I could help more but I live on a very limited income so right now I have a very tight budget to live on. I can share information but not much more at this time. Please keep us updated on the condition of this previous baby.

  65. Blind cats are no worse off than blind people, in fact they adapt far more quickly to their disability & you only have to visit some websites of shelters that care for blind cats, amongst others, to see how happy & healthy they can be. Tell those ‘well-meaning’ but ignorant fools that advocate killing her to kindly consider doing that to any disabled human they meet, due to a potentially ‘poor quality of life’ & see the reaction they get from that disabled person’s loved ones.

  66. dc graves says:

To those people who think a blind kitty can’t have a good life i would tell them to go check out Spirit A Blind Cat on facebook and The Little Kitty that Could over there as well..These 2 wonderful kitties are just a sample of how great a blind kitties life can be!!!!

  67. Ana Mesner & Saso Lipic says:

I know 20$ is not much, but I hope it helps. Keep up the great work.

  68. I wish i could afford to get her to the Uk I would love to have this poor lil girl,
I get paid next week will try and send a little donation.
Please keep me updated on her condition x

  69. people think animals like themselves. when humans are handicapped, they have grief, resentment and anger for a very long time, probably for the rest of their lives. they will always cling on to their past, think about the times when they were healthy and be angry & sad about this moment.

even when we cut our finger while peeling a fruit, we hold on to our anger, thinking how stupid and careless we are…

animals, on the other hand, they live in the moment. they adapt, they survive and take just what they have right now. they don’t add mental pain on top of their physical pain or disabilities. they just have the instinct to go on.

so, if you save this kitty and find a home, she will surely be happy and enjoy her life just like any other cat.

  70. Elle Vee Legionne says:

She looks like my Whiney-kitty, my 8 month old furry kid…. poor baby. She will get better, it’s thanks to you Viktor!!!!! May you be blessed for what you do for these little ones!

  71. Anonymous says:

My grandfather was blind, but that didn’t stop him from living independently, becoming an accomplished violinist, and leading advocacy efforts for the blind in the Boston area. The true blind ones are the small-minded people who make such stupid comments.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Elizabeth..

  72. She looks so much more comfortable now her eyes have been removed. She is a very pretty kitten – eyes or no eyes and I’m sure she is going to do just great. Some very lucky family is going to have a wonderful new addition in the near future, that I’m sure of 😀

  73. Thank you viktor. God bless you and rania. Donated. With support all the way from singapore!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Steph!

  78. tanaka shige says:

    please take care rania.
    thankyou

  79. Lori Sexton says:

This precious baby will make someone a great companion! I have had a blind cat before, and she was awesome! She could even jump up on the bed. Just because she could not see with her eyes did not make her any less lovable, and I know it will be the same with this precious baby. I pray she finds her perfect forever home! She deserves it!

  80. GOD PLEASE HELP THIS CAT SEE GOD BLESS THIT

  81. Thank you for allowing this beautiful girl a chance at life. Donated last night. Keep up the good work.

  82. I can only donate 5 dollars but I want thank you from the bottom of my catlady heart for saving her. I wish so much I could give you more…I have a cat born into the same situation as Raina and she is the love of my life. She lives a full life and is my joy. Blind animals can live a full life, giving their owners much love. Once again Viktor, God bless you and your team for answering the Call to Mercy for the most innocent and helpless among us…I am eternally grateful, and do not want to imagine a world without people like you.

  88. Thank you so much for giving this little sweet Angel a chance! I made a small donation and I sure do hope she finds a home with parent(s) that will protect her wildly and spoil her until she to a ripe old age.

  89. julie thompson says:

I donated what I could Blind kitties do just fine. I have friends with bind kitty, they even walk on balcony rials, play and race around up and down stairs and never pump into anything they have a incredible sense of their surroundings and the lon wishers work like canes .I f they are loved in a safe home and an inside kitty ,then all is normal for them . I would love take her but I have one dog that would chase her everywhere she goes and she does not need that. But she looks so good now. The pain has to still be bad. Does she get pain meds? But in a few days it will lesson she will start eating more and getting around. A home is out there for her I ma sure.

  90. al jackson says:

To help her find a loving, responsible home, what country is she in? If the U.S., what region or state?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

She is in Valencia, Spain, but she will fly anywhere the perfect home is found…

  91. If everyone donated $10 we would live in a better world.get better soon rania

  92. deepak singh rauthan says:

All is well…..our heartily prayer for brave n sweethearted rania just dont worry everything will be alright 🙂 god bless each one who take caring n looking after Rania

  93. Judy Frost says:

She does need a very special home, I am in UK, too far, plus I have four cats that I know would not be understanding of her. I hope she finds a safe home where she is NOT let out, a genuine animal lover who will nurture and love her and keep her SAFE.

  94. Where is this little angel? What country? If she is in Australia, I would definitely adopt her.

  95. Plz tell me if I can adopt her.

  111. Check out her gorgeous ears…”looking” all around!

  112. Jen Faden says:

Dear Viktor and Staff at Let’s Adopt,
You all are true earth angels just like the animals that are being helped, comforted and saved by you. Thank you so much for being leaders and loving warriors in this world and giving chances to the animals that have lived through the darkest horrors. I have the utmost respect for you. May G-d bless you in the highest form. From one animal lover and adopter to another, Jen Faden

  113. Nancy Shufeldt says:

she is so tiny! what a gorgeous girl!

  114. I donated when u first posted her. Thank you for saving her. You truly do incredible life saving work.

  115. I donated before surgery and I just donated again. Tears came out, everyone deserves a chance to live. ..I’m so glad you guys did everything to save her. Look at her now, all happy and playful…she doesn’t need eyes, she knows that from now on she will be loved. Thank you for all you do. I would love to have Rania, I would fly her here, but my house it’s not the proper one for her as we have dogs.

  116. Nancy Corsaut says:

And her life can now begin! Thank you for saving her 🙂

  117. Joe Moceri says:

God I wish I had my own place, I would so take her! I am broke as a joke but will donate again, it isn’t much but all I have and I can’t look at this kitty and not donate something, so sad! Will share!

  118. Wonderful Viktor to see her looking so good and playful. I hope you find a wonderful home for you where she can thrive.

  119. Such sweetness. You are such a blessing!

  120. herman van wyk says:

You didnt do kitty a favour. My dog 12years old went blind and it is terrible. She bumps into everything. Any funny sound try to hide. Nerves shot

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Herman, please think about this… a new born kitty, she will adapt to blindness.. a 12 year old dog.. it´s a completely different story. I´m sure you can understand that.

  121. Rania is so very beautiful…she has such woderful markings….she will be a gorgeous adult….I have never seen infected exploding eyes on a cat in my entire life….I am assuming that the bolging eyes are caused by unsanitary conditions that leads to an infection….It is so very sad that this little darln’ has lost her sight but cats are very curious little creatures and her nose will help her navigate. My 13 1/2 Himalayan cat havd very poor vision before she passed away and as lng as you don’tmove anything, they don’t have a problem at all…

  122. I wish to adppt but I can’t afford her medication since I’m only a part time worker n I too hv a 7 mnths old kitten that feel so lonely..hw can I donate..

  123. Herman, go to this site and purchase a Halo for your blind dog. It works beautifully. I have one for my blind pug. http://www.halosforpaws.com/

Rania. meow meow, little beauty. Safe travels.

  124. Al McCord says:

I respect all life forms, and believe in giving them a fighting chance! Obviously infection set in, and the kitten was weak from the septic shock that was about to set in. Apparently she survived for a reason. I believe the reason is to illustrate to people that the seemingly impossible things in life are achievable. That LOVE can overcome many obstacles in life. Where one sense is lost, other senses become more endowed, and she CAN live a near-normal life by the means of compensation.

  125. SO SO HAPPY FOR HER! I PRAY SHE GETS A SAFE,LOVING NEW FOREVER FAMILY! BLESS YOU ALL FOR SAVING HER, i would love to have her,but i have 9 rescues already,so i hope she gets the best family ever! where is she?

  126. oh spain,wow..do you ever help any pets from the USA?

  127. I donated a small amount but I can do it next week. You’re amazing! Thanks for all you do She looks totally happy and pain free

  128. Debbie Burnley says:

What an amazing little girl. My cats have all been rescues who may otherwise have been left to starve or die. I would have this little girl anytime but recently took in a little litter runt – although I suppose they could be friends. I’m sure she’ll find a home much closer to you and I wish her a life of love – she deserves it. God bless you all.

  129. I have seen a lot of this, this year! I don’t know what is going on, but I also rescued a torti the I almost ran over because she couldn’t see. She also had one eye rupture and the vet was afraid she wouldn’t make it through the surgery. She was only 4 oz., but there was no choice. She has now been with me 2 1/2 mos., has limited sight in the other eye, but does really great in a house with 6 other cats and 2 dogs.

  130. When my cat became diabetic, a friend of mine, who is a medical doctor, asked me if I was going to put him down. I said I didn’t euthanize my grandma and I sure as heck am not going to kill my cat. People really need to be educated on animals. I’ve witnessed the most amazing miracles in animals in that they are fearless with what we think of as disabilities. I will not look past diabetic nor blind kitties in the shelter next time I adopt. Thank you Rania for opening my eyes. Hope you’ve found your forever home.

  131. Kathleen Malone O'Connor says:

So glad that Rania survived the needed surgery to remove her eyes. Didn’t know that herpes could explode them like that. But Rania has grit (you can tell by the spunky way she prances in her after-surgery video). She has a great full life ahead of her if only the right home can be found. Bless you and your team for taking care of her when so many might have just put her down because she would be blind and for being willing to send her even out of the country (Spain) for the right home. I’m reminded of Homer’s Odyssey, the story of Homer the Blind Wonder Cat who survived 9/11 in NY, which taught me without a doubt that a blind cat can live a great life with the right home and support system–just like blind people. Every life counts and has worth–Rania’s fight to live (with your help) is inspiring to all of us and hopefully will teach the nay-sayers that blind cats (and other domestic animals) can still live good lives. I don’t have much but will send a small donation for her medical expenses on 10/10 when I get my social security.

  132. The debate on euthanasia on Rania has prompted me to share this quote from today’s service at Buddhist fellowship. This is not a religious debate. I just feel compelled to share as it is very much related to Rania.

Below are quotations from leading Buddhists both past and present concerning animal rights, the humane treatment of animals and adopting a vegetarian/vegan diet. The quotations page is part of a section about animal rights and religion.

“All beings tremble before danger, all fear death. When a man considers this, he does not kill or cause to kill. All beings fear before danger, life is dear to all. When a man considers this, he does not kill or cause to kill. Whosoever tries to find happiness through hurting other beings, will not find happiness.”
Dhammapada (a set of buddhist doctrine).

    Hope this helps.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Ann….

  133. Catrina Anderson says:

So many kind words, I donated a small amount but will donate more on Wednesday. Rania is going to have a wonderful life!! I have seen blind cats do wonderful, Leo the lionheart was adopted from lets adopt global and he is doing wonderful, his family is so great to him and his siblings and his mom posts some really uplifting stories about him and his siblings. I have no doubt that you Viktor and your team do all and more for each and every animal that comes through your facilities. God Bless you all

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks for your help Catrina… many many thanks!

  134. So happy to see her latest video…it seems as though she’s going to he just fine…I’m thinking about you Rania!!!

  135. I really want to adopt her, but my mum&dad is cat allergic ; 3 ;

  138. I run an in home shelter and had a kitten recently who was perfectly healthy except he was born without a sternum. I refused to put him down like the local vet wanted to do and sent out emails to specialists al lover the country. well one in texas responded. for 2 weeks I sent him x-rays etc. well last Tuesday this wonderful man who is a bone graft specialist and his wife flew all the way up here and adopted not only Munrets ((sternum spelled backwards) but his twin brother Clyde so he would have a friend. They actually bought them their own first class seat on the plane to fly hoem on. They have a special room set up I ntheir home for the 2 boys because Munrets cant play with other kitties yet theycould hurt him badly but his brother seemed to know he has problems and was gentle so they took both of them. Now he is living with a vet who can bone graft a new sternum on him when he is old enough and my heart swelled and the tears rolled when the boys left. The moral of the story is never give up on a kitten never put them down due to a defect they deserve a chance at a happy life. So bless your hearts for never giving up on this precious baby, I have 3 blind cats here and 4 CH cats that will stay with me forever. we don’t put down humans over birth defect or health issues why should we put down a precious soul due to something that isn’t their fault? I ill continue too save kitties and you guys continue your great work! I wish I coud lafford to donate but im having a fund raiser right now too get health care for 3 sick babiesmyself. bless you all

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

What a beautiful story… Many thanks Mardee for NEVER giving up on Munrets…

  139. Please DO NOT kill Rania. She’s spoiling sweet and I’m very glad her surgery went well. I will donate today. One thing can Rania attend Homer or Blind Sanctuary. They are in Facebook. I wish I can have Rania but my cat won’t let me. But I’m praying for Rania to find wonderful owners and home that LOVED Rania. <3

  140. Hello Victor…

I am only finding this story now…..where is Raina, and has she found a home yet?

  141. I wish I’m a millionaire so I can donate everything whose my FB friends need the help financing the injury kittens and cats. Some for pups and dogs. Most I want the FELINES. I’m very glad Ranin made it, Authur made it. I’m very sad about Dash and Hope. Break my heart. I hope I will win the lottery so I will donate FOR SURE! I LOVE YOU!!

    Melina.

  143. Kathleen Malone O'Connor says:

Sent small donation (all I can)–how is Rania now? Looked for update on her on Let’s Adopt! Global website but didn’t see her listed. How’s she doing, is she adopted yet?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

I will give a GREAT update today.. bear with me..

  144. I don’t understand, first it says she needs a home, then it says she has been adopted. Then there’s a P.S. stating she is going to need an extraordinary home. Was she adopted or not?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Adopted.. she is flying home. Please accept my humble apologies I forgot to erase the last bit at the end. I´m human I guess.

  145. Blind is beautiful! Some of my best kitty friends have been blind, and I’m always staggered by how they quickly adapt. They don’t know that they’re different…they just know that they’re not in pain. And that someone loves them unconditionally. That’s what I consider the good life! I’m so glad Rania has found her own good life!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Kathryn…

  146. Wow. What a stunningly beautiful cat Rania’s turning into. So happy that she’s been adopted. Cats use hearing more than sight, hence the shape of their ears which are also directional. When a cat catches a mouse, it’s not their eyes they see the mouse with but they hear where the mouse is. There is no reason why a blind cat should ever be put down and anyone who thinks they should be is incredibly ignorant.

  147. Anonymous says:

No one has the right to put a kitten like Rania to death because they have given up on her and to those who said she should be put to death, well you might want to rethink your mind set. Also shame on you. Vicktor I,m glad to share your page in a heart beat. Thank you for saving Ranias life and please keep up the great work. I know you can’t save then all but you have set the bar high. I’m not able to donate, but sharing is almost as good because some one who can and does donate could save a life. Keep up the great work.

    Don

  148. Gailene Franklin says:

I LOVE the pic of her biting the box. So glad she has a family to love her, i prayed and donated. Viktor and your staff are amazing. I’ m in the U.S. and it is so awesome to see what you do for these amazing animals in Spain.

  149. Kate Cassidy says:

What a wonderful new beginning for Rania. I wish her a long and happy life. Thank you Viktor..youare truly amazing x

  150. Margarita says:

How can anyone have seriously proposed that this little girl be put to sleep? There are SOOOOO many animals that are either born blind or go blind later in life and their quality of life is not affected. Animals do not have the silly hangups that us humans do. They live and thrive regardless of disabilities, impediments, circumstance, etc. I am so glad that you do not give up Viktor, that you never, ever give up. Have you seen Oskar the blind kitty on Facebook? He’s an amazing creature that has a wonderful life and parents that never ever thought of giving up on him 🙂 Un abrazo from Australia

  151. Kerry Himmel says:

she is beautiful AND happy! And put on some weight too.

  152. Cruelty comes in many forms Viktor. You have proved many times that it can be overcome. It’s easier to say to put an animal down, just because it has become so common place and it shouldn’t be. Animals deserve a life, just as humans do. Their life is no less important. So to all of the people that say that it is more humane to put an animal down, I say, that all life is important. If you think that your life is important as a human, then how can you believe that an animal does not deserve to live just as much.

  153. Mary Prubant says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you once again Viktor, for your tireless efforts to save another beautiful, innocent animal. Thanks also to the individuals that you work with to bring health, safety and love to these dear, sweet babies. It is people like you who are the true ‘superstars’ in this world.

  154. You are absolutely well done. I lived with a cat called Mana, she was extraordinary. Glaucoma left her blind when she was a very young cat she lived 16 years… The only one to stand up and bring back a mouse while all the others were asleep. Incomparable hearing. Gentleness and immense tenderness. Able to jump and have fun in 10 cm of snow. Walking in the garden among herbs and flowers scents. See with her ears my brush drag on the canvas, sitting on my lap. C’était un être des lumières qui avait pris la forme d’un chat. She lived the world with more inner strength than anyone else. To Mana. To Rania. Long life beautiful cat. VG (sorry for my english)

  155. Wonderful ending of Rania’s beginnings and the start of her wonderful new life . Love her and all your animal’s stories . Wish i could give more and will donate usual 10$ beginning Dec. XXXXXXX

  156. I donated to help save Rania and the photos of her in her new home HAVE made my day. Thank you for the wonderful work you do x

  157. What a wonderful story. This is God’s beautiful little creature and she deserves the best in life. Thank you so much for your wonderful work and not giving up on her. She is absolutely gorgeous.

  158. Glad she got her happy ending! Thank you for all that you guys do!

  159. She really does look like one of those anime kitten that always close their eyes. These dang anime reference always got me to the wrong way. ;-;
