Her name is Elif, a beautiful turkish name that means “slender”.

But she is not only that, she is also active, fun, loving, loyal, a goofball that only wants to play and that has no idea that she’s incomplete. A tripod.

We don’t know how she lost her leg, but what we know is that for months she has been barely living, aimlessly hopping along in a Turkish shelter waiting for someone to appear and bring her home.

But that someone didn’t come. She was always the first at the gates, greeting visitors with that irresistible smile but the most she would get would be a pat in the head and a rub behind the ears.. no serious offers to bring her home. In the mid of those visitors would be this question.. why chose a handicapped dog when you have a shelter full of puppies?

For months many must have ask themselves the question, noone found the answer until finally, FINALLY!!, Elif found a home in the United Kingdom.

YES!!! Elif would finally have the chance to have a proper life, with a home, a bed, friends, visitors, without having to fight for food and have to endlessly wiggle her tail in the hope someone would catch her eye.

The process of getting a dog from Turkey is costly, long and tedious. She had to be vaccinated, she needed a titter test to certify she had no rabies, and in the meantime she was moved several times from foster to boarding facilities because yes, it’s also nearly impossible to find a foster for a dog with three legs. We took care of all that.

Finally, the wait is over, Elif is ready to start the journey home.

Just a final hurdle, her ticket home must be raised within 48 hours. It’s not much, little over 700 USD, but it must be raised for her for her to start her journey.

This is an incredible community, we should be able to do this very very quickly and she should be heading home at the end of the week. It’s about time that Elif goes home..

Please help Elif travel to the UK. Any amount will help. Let’s get this baby home…

Many many thanks!

Viktor

P.S. Watch this space, we’ll be publishing pics of Elif’s journey home!

Please continue to give status updates, if possible. So, if necessary, we can drum up some more by begging, borrowing or stealing.
Anything to save Elif and send “home”.

  6. Jean Stewart, Scotland says:

Small donation sent. Not much, but I pray you get enough donations to get Elif out of the Turkish shelter. I can’t understand it, if I was in a position to give a dog a home I would take on a disabled dog in a heartbeat. Poor wee soul hasn’t had much luck she deserves a break. Please help her get to her home in the UK Viktor, where she can have some love & safety.

  7. Gayle Wilson says:

This is my first donation and I so hope that enough is raised to send this sweet angel to her forever home.

15 years ago, i adopted a dog, and did pay and incurr costs(flight ticket incl.) over 700 us dollars for getting him “home”…i assume that elif’s new “parent” has no money??? donating over the internet is something i really do not trust, secure transfer??!!! sorry… any other means of donation??!!!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Hi Tiftun… everyone’s case is different. In this particular case this was too much for them so we decided to help.
Yes, we use a secure transfer system, Paypal, doesn’t get any safer than that.. if still unsure please don’t worry, well figure out a way to send her, youll see her arrival home at our FB page. Don’t stress, if you can help great, if you can’t then I’m sure everything will turn out ok in the end. Best

  10. Thank you as always Viktor and Team for helping these innocent victims of horror. You help us to bring light and love back into their lives….

All the best for sweet Elf….

    Love to you all, XX
