SWEET MONTY, a life changed in an instant

Monty must have been just a tiny baby when that car ran over him changing his life forever. After the accident he was picked up by a good samaritan that left him in a safe place, but where, unable to receive medical treatment was left to heal on his own for over three months. Three months crawling on the floors with multiple fractures.

We drove hundreds of kilometers across the country to rescue Monty and bring him to our clinic in Valencia. When we met him it was so hard to watch, he was calm, and loving, but you could see in his eyes that he had given up, that he had lost all hope.

Monty’s bones, muscle and nerves were shaken and twisted in such a way that Xrays have not been enough and we’ve had to perform a CAT Scan to fully understand the gravity and extent of the injuries.

You don’t have to be a vet to understand what is so clear to the eye in these pictures. What these images show is nothing short of DESTRUCTION.

His tiny frame was shattered in pieces, rendering his internal structure beyond recognition.

Monty’s front leg broken reset wrongly with a non-union that would never provide him the needed balance.

His hip and sacrum are totally shattered and compressing the nerves allowing movement and sensitivity in the area. Result? Paralysis and loss of ability to control defecation and urination.

Right now Monty is paralysed and incontinent, only able to move slightly by crawling using his broken front leg for support. It’s a disaster, and the only possible way to help him is to perform surgery on him… not one… but three, three different surgeries to fix all the fractures that are putting his life at risk.

What do you do with a dog in this condition? The costs of performing not one but three surgeries of this calibre are beyond what most organisations can do, it’s certainly a strain for us. It will take us weeks to complete the procedures and they will be followed by a long period of rehabilitation that may, or may not work. In the end chances are Monty will need a wheelchair.

It’s either that or we kill him  (that’s not going to happen don’t worry)…

Our priority now is to rearrange Monty’s body frame so that his digestive and urinary generic xanax street value system can return back to normal fonction, that alone will save his life. Mobility is of course important but the chances of him ever walk again are very very small. Still… we have seen it time and time again, give animal the chance to get better and he will cling to life with all he’s got..

That is our hope and our promise. We will do everything we possibly can to offer Monty a new life.. one in which he can run with friends and play with the waves at the beach.

The life he was supposed to have and that was stolen away from him by that car in an instant…

Please, if you can, help us fix SWEET MONTY… this is beyond what we can do on our own.. we need you to side with us once again… It’s important, Monty’s life is at stake..

Please, even if you can’t help, please SHARE SWEET MONTY’S plea in your social networks… His condition is too complicated… he needs all of us to be whole again.

Many thanks

Viktor

P.S. If you feel touched by Sweet Monty’s story and would love to adopt him please reach out to me on viktor@myletsadopt. com telling me everything you can about you and your animals. Sweet Monty is going to need an amazing home… could it be yours?

UPDATE APRIL 3….

UPDATE 4 APRIL!!!

MONTY WALKS!!!!  YOU ARE THE BEST MONTY!!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!!

This kind of recovery only happens when you combine the absolute best veterinary treatment with the efforts of a visionary group.  Animals like Monty are euthanized in hospitals the world over because their owners and rescuers don’t feel equipped with the patience necessary to allow their recovery.

We are here to show there is a better way…  Monty’s way… You have to see this!!

I SHARED YOUR STORY ON FACE BOOK I PRAY MORE DONATIONS COME IN FOR YOU.I HAVE ASKED THEM TO HELP,I HOPE THEY DO.

  4. That poor sweet boy! So sad! Please do what you can to save him and make his life as good as it can possibly be! I can’t take him – I am out of state and already have four sweet doggies and a bird in a small house – I am at my limit. But I have made a small donation (I wish it could be more, but sadly, there have been so many sad stories such as this lately and I have been trying to help when and where I can.) I hope that many other generous people will find it in their hearts to also make a donation and with everyone’s dollars combined, I hope it is enough. Thanks for all you do for the animals. They are truly blessed to have you!

Where is Monty, U.S. or another country? I live on a small social security check monthly but I sure wish there was something other than money that I could do for him. Nobody deserves the pain and agony that this poor guy has endured. I’m sitting here looking at my old black lab and can’t even imagine him going through this. Right now I guess all that I can do is pray for this sweetheart and hope that he becomes whole again and finds a very “special” family to help him regain his life. He hasn’t even been able to know what a loving family can do to help him recover!

  6. Angel Mariani says:

Go Monty, I’ll support you (donated!) though I can’t adopt you – already 2 cats at home 😉 but after these operations I’m sure a kindhearted home will… Thanks Viktor and all the team to keep us informed and most of all, to keep the light of hope! All the best!

  10. Poor little guy! Thank you so much for saving him and doing what it takes to get him to be pain free and functioning. Even if he has to be in a wheelchair after his surgeries, many dogs use wheelchairs with great success and have a very happy life. :-). Please keep us posted on his progress, and again thanks for everything you guys do not only for Monty but for all the other friends in need. P.S. I donated!

  11. Nick Ryder says:

    Best

  12. LINDA DAMMIER says:

I wonder why the person who found you in the road didn’t take you to the vets right away???? why ???? you could have been helped so much sooner and maybe you would not have to have all these problems.you would not have been in so much pain for so long, feeling so sad for you.god bless you!!!

  13. Poor baby, my heart breaks for Monty.Hoping he will recover.

    Hello Viktor,
When will you be adopting Monte out? He looks like a very sweet dog. I already sent you an email telling you about the living conditions at my home. We have a lot of room, both inside and out. I didn’t mention it before but, I am retired on disability because of a neck injury. I am home most of the time and I think my roommates and I could give a puppy like Monte and great home. We have an endless supply of love and energy to give to Monte. I hope you will consider us when it comes time to adopt him out.
Thank you for all you do Lisa

  30. This is such joyous news. He’s looking good. Thanks to all, who donated, and helped get Monty to where he is today, and not taking no for an answer. He is a very sweet, well mannered fur baby, and will need continued care. The angels at LAG, and the organizations they reach out to are nothing short of miraculous. Love to all, and thanks for giving Monty a second chance at a life, when others said put him down. He deserves a great life, with a fore-ever family. He still has so much love, and life in him. Keep fighting, Monty, as we are fighting with you.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Absolutely!!!! to help them put up their best fight… it’s a wonderful feeling indeed Pamela..

  37. Deidra Morelli-Otto says:

Hello Victor…..I don’t know if you remember me but I am the one who wanted to adopt Juliette but instead she went to a loving home with open arms and that right there put a smile on my face:) I have been donating every time I see a story like the one’s you have been posting and Monty’s story caught my eye and my love for him. You have been a savior and a saint to all these precious and loving animals in need of some kind of rescue. You have been there for them from the beginning and that alone gives us all hope that these beloved pets will get a 2nd chance in life because of YOU! You are an inspiration to all and I wish that I could wrap my arms around you and Thank You in person. I live in the U.S. and I would like to know what are the chances in adopting Monty who has become an inspiration to everyone who has been following his story. I so desperately and willing to convince my boyfriend in adopting him so my golden retriever “Bella”, my 14 yr.old daughter and myself and bf can have him become a part of our family and life. Pleaseeee if you would the next time you see that handsome boy, our ‘Monty’, would you give him a hug and a kiss for me? Would very much be appreciated. Because when I see a dog like Monty who was given a 2nd chance in life (and I will continue to pray for him for a full-recovery) it also brings tears of joy to me wishing I could bring him home and have him be a special part of my life. So Victor , again I would like to know what I can do to help Monty and hopefully some day adopt this beautiful and precious boy? I have donated $75.00 but will donate more if it will help with his medical costs. Again, THANK YOU Victor! love a friend always, Deidra….

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Dear Deidra…
Did you see Monty’s last update? Check out the blog.. he walks!!!!
He is not fully recovered yet, and we have the problem of his incontinence but he’ll get there eventually…
LEt’s be in touch… he doesn’t have a family yet.. this would be a lifetime commitment and a very difficult one but he’s an amazing dog… I’m sure there is someone out there for him.. could it be you? Who knows… talk to your boyfriend:-)
      Well be in touch
      Viktor

  38. Villa in San Francisco says:

Viktor! They LOVE you! Look at Monty so pleased to be touched by you. Incredible is correct! Congratulations! Such a handsome dog, too.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      🙂

  39. Joëlle, from Brussels says:

Yay Viktor, what good news! Thanks for this awesome video… Monty’s on the good way… Bless you and all the team, and a good smooch on his little nose… 🙂 <3

  40. Deidra Morelli-Otto says:

I do hope I am the one Victor. And ‘YES’ I did see and read the blog and MIRACLES do happen and God has given our Monty a chance to walk again!!! I was in tears of joy when I saw him walking for the 1st time!…God has a way of making miracles happen for a special reason. I do hope it is me who Monty comes home to but I know there are a lot of people out there who would LOVE to adopt him. I did have another golden who had an incontinence problem but I managed to give her the love and assistance that she needed in my home for 15 yrs.before she had passed. I know this is a life long commitment for Monty and yes he is by all means an amazing dog with a lot of love and pep in him and I know his condition will be a difficult one but I will be there for him 24-7. My bf is retired and I know in time Monty will recover and that’s when he tells me “YES” I can adopt him. But I want Monty to recover fully and get his health back 1st and when he’s ready to be adopted I hope I am the one but if I am not the one to adopt him, I know that person who does adopt Monty will give him the love and happiness he well-deserves and a special place to live with open arms. Again, please give him that 1 special hug and kiss for me because a dog like him deserves to be well loved all around. Thank you Victor and God Bless!…..XOXO

  41. viktor you are an amazing person, i have read a lot about you and the animals you help i’ve sat and cried reading your stories keep up the good work. tina

  43. LINDA JENSEN says:

get well soon monty, well i just lost my dog april first she passed away.

  44. Edith Steffen says:

Great work done by all of you – God bless you – little Monty is an amazing doggy personality. I hope for complete recovery and wish the very best for-ever-home for this brave little boy !

  45. Judi Roselli says:

It’s a miracle that Monty is able to walk now – so far our prayers have been answered. I can feel for everyone what it’s like to see an injured pet in pain. When I was young, I had a beautiful white German Shepherd who was hit by a speeding Police Car & dragged 300ft at 9 mos. old. He ran back home as we witnessed the accident in front of our house. After a 3 month stay at the Animal Hospital & many surgeries, as a trained K-9 he never thought of himself first. He would sneak out of his cage at night & bring food to other dogs. We visited him constantly and although his scar never went away on his front paw he was a hero to the dogs he fed & visited in the night. He lived 14 yrs & was one of the best German Shepherds we ever had. I hope someone with a quiet home & a loving heart adopts Monty, he deserves to be treated very special. God Bless him & the doctors who saved him and will continue during his recovery.

  46. Victor…..I have not heard ANY WORD on our Monty who was crushed by a moving car.about 2 months ago in which I had donated $75.00 to help out with his medical costs and was pursuing to adopted Monty. I HAVE NOT even seen or heard any news on his health and condition nor do I even know if he has been adopted as of now or if he is still being treated for his wounds. Please Victor what is Monty’s status as of today? Is he doing better or no? Please let me know how my buddy is doing?
    Thank you!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Hi Deidra,
He’s doing amazing.. I uploaded a picture a couple of weeks ago showing him standing proud. I need to go to the clinic this week and take a video of his evolution… he’s doing amazing.. amazing… a completely different dog. No.. he hasn’t been adopted yet, but we should start getting him out of the clinic, he’s ready to go home..

  47. Please Victor, when you do go back to the clinic to take the video would you give my handsome buddy a big kiss along with a big hug for me and let him know that I send my love to him. Would you do that for me please?. Would be greatly appreciated so much. Thanks my friend!
Please keep me informed on his health. Thank you again!…………………………………..Deidra

  48. Viktor
I just watched Montys new video so happy for Monty that he is walking..God love him..all the best Monty

  49. I helped out with a small amount ($15.00). I wish I could give more to help this sweet little dog, but times are tough and I’m already caring for six small dogs. I pray to God someone compassionate with vast resources reads his story and gives him everything he needs to make his life comfortable. Bless this sweet little fighter with the will to live!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks PAtricia… thank you!

  50. I am wondering if he is hurting when walking on his right front leg? It looks painful when watching the video but perhaps that is just because it has such a wrong setting?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

No.. that leg wasn’t injured. What he has there is called plantigrade stance, it’s being reverted with time.

  51. ay dios mio a mi me va a dar un patatus de alegria y de ver el mejor hombre del mundo

  52. Villa From San Francisco says:

    Hi, Viktor,

Thank you for giving us an update on Monty. We get so attached to their story and their struggle. Sometimes, we write things that express our anxiety and sometimes we are so overcome with the emotion that we express impatience or anger. Thank you for remaining calm and positive when you respond (90% of the time :D). That is so very helpful, Viktor. There is a lot of mistrust (I know you know). You and your colleagues are doing great work.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

90%… I must try harder and make it 100% :-)))
There will be new pics of Monty today… what a trooper he is..

  53. Renee Dagostino says:

Dear Viktor, the video you asked Deirdra to look at showing Monty’s transformation is AMAZING!I was so glad to see the tech walking with him being so loving petting him and showering him with many kisses as when video was shown of him getting his bath the doctors/techs werent petting him at all..Deirdra sounds like a sweet ,kind woman who would do just that-lavish Monty with love.Have you adopted him out yet? any more recent videos or can you please tell us what his days are like now?God bless you for all you do.You have the heart of an angel.XoXo

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:
