This is the story of the rescue of a dog, Morgan. We need this post to spread as far away and as quick as possible. Please read on, and at the end, SHARE…
Istanbul is a beautiful city, no doubt about that. But it’s a city where tens of thousands of animals are dumped on the streets every year. A city where it’s rare the day you don’t find the mangled body and remains of multiple abandoned dogs, and cats.
We have called him Morgan. We found him yesterday limping in the parking lot trying to run away from a particularly nasty gang of three kids, two of them armed with stones, the third carrying a wooden stick with protruding rusty nails. Where did that kid found that weapon we do not know, but it is clear what he intended to do with it.
Morgan ran for his life, ran as fast as he could carrying his sorry frame without muscle whilst being very careful not to step on that damaged leg.
Ending the kid’s chase was easy, finding Morgan was more of a challenge.
We finally found him, cowering scared behind the garbage containers outside the mall.
Morgan is very sweet, he immediately recognized a friend in us, and allowed us to carry him into our car.
His body is covered in mange, but made his life unbearably painful and hard has been an open fracture half way through his femur that has twisted his leg, rendering it useless.
The X-Ray is graphic enough to make you want to look away. The damage made to that bone is shocking.
This is probably an old fracture but it cannot wait. His whimpers tell us he clearly is in pain, and the area is infected. This will be a very complicated operation, needing both the use of an internal plate and an external fixation, the kind of operation and the kind of dog noone is interested in taking.
We are going to fix that leg, and we are going to give Morgan a new wonderful life, and for that we are going to need you.
This Chipin will only run for 48 hours. Please if you can, contribute to Morgan’s Chipin, and help us offer him a new chance in life. We are ALL he has today…
