Barney is THE cat… the leader of the feline nation. The best, handsomest, most charismatic cat that ever lived. Barney is the cat that will walk proudly next to that old lady on the way home. He cannot carry her bags, because he has no hands, but if he could, he would, because that’s the way he is.
But Barney is sick, very sick, so sick that at this stage we don’t know if he is going to make it. Barney has a massive upper respiratory infection, an infection so strong that it’s putting his life in danger. He also has Entropion, a potentially blinding eye condition for which he will need an operation after he recovers from his infection.
We are determined for this wonderful cat to live. In his nine years of age and from his seemingly insignificant position he has left a mark in the life of many. Today, Barnie is going Global, and for the first time in his life he’s going to have a true community supporting him, not just the occasional neighborhood cat lover, but a lifesaving community joining forces to save him.
Barney is in critical condition, he needs your help. Let’s not let his life slip away..

Here he is… still with a massive upper respiratory infection but CLEARLY in much much better spirits!!!!
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that is helping us bring Barney to life.
Next week he will be operated from his eye entropion.

And then, all of a sudden Barney did the unexpected… with maximum softness and elegance Barney landed a kiss on Goldie’s nose…
Goldie didn’t know what to do… she had fallen for the charms of Barney the cat!!!!

UPDATE 7 February 2015
It´s been two years and a half since Barney was rescued in Turkey. He stayed there on treatment for a while but soon afterwards he flew to Spain and he joined my family.
He had FIV and a chronic upper respiratory infection but in my home he thrived. For two years he has been a pillar of strength at home. Barney and Monkey were always in charge in greeting other cats that joined us temporarily as fosters. He has been happy, and has made us all happy.
For the last couple of days Barney has been feeling a bit under the weather, so today we went for a checkup… The news are terribly sad, Barney has chronic kidney failure, stage 3 our of four.
Barney is now on fluid therapy but he is expected to go home tomorrow. From this moment we will try to live one day at a time…
