UPDATE 26 May:

The wonderful German couple of tourist took a 7 hour drive to the Barstow Humane Society that confirmed that the dog was picked up by his owner. We don’t know how this dog ended in the middle of the desert, probably we will never know… anyway… the dog is safe now. Case closed.

I have just received the following email. It’s clearly an emergency…

I don’t know, if you can help us, but here is our story:
On Tuesday we travelled the Route 66 from Newberry Springs to Barstow. We passed a tree, under that tree was an abandoned dog waiting for it’s death. we called 911, what else could we have done?
We waited by this cute dog for more than 3 hours. he gets all our water and it seemed, that the doggy is injured, she was not able to move. after more than 3 hours the animal rescue arrived and picked her up, bringing her to Barstow Humane Society. and the woman told us, that the dog will be killed if no one picks her up in 3 days (Friday).
We’d like to ask what we could to for the dog, it would be strange feeling for us to have rescued her from dying of thirst, and then she was brought to a killing shelter, dying there from gas. could you do anything for her? she was really friendly, old and if we could, we’d take her with us to germany (we’re here on vacation), but thats unfortunately impossible. =((

Please, can someone help her?!

Ok, we need someone to go or call to the Barstow Humane Society and take full responsibility for this dogie. Once she is safe and sound we will do our best to find her a home that fits our standards. But for now she needs an emergency rescue…

Help out please…
