As many of you know Let’s Adopt! supports the Soi Dog foundation and puts it’s entire network at their disposal when an emergency arises. We have helped them with a number of urgent rescues as well as raising awareness through their fantastic work in Thailand.
This is Jet… their most urgent of cases.
Jet is a beautiful dog, a flat coated retriever mix with a jet black hair, shinny like the fool moon. He is friendly, loving, funny…. unfortunately, and probably due to being in a shelter environment Jet does not get along with other dogs. This is a sad situation that has led him to have to be kept in isolation at the shelter.
I have seen many cases like these in the past. Animals that the moment they arrive to a shelter experience a transformation in their character that, in many cases, seals their fate. If Jet had been left at a USA shelter he would have been considered unadoptable and killed in a matter of hours. But Soi Dog is different, and so are we.
Soi Dog suggested us to find a home where Jet would be the only dog in the home, however, I believe that this approach would only contribute to Jet’s current issues settling in forever and creating serious problems in the future.
So, we are going to try a different approach, the same approach that has worked so well for our animals in the past. Instead of trying to find Jet a home where he is the only dog we are going to find him a home where he is not alone, where he enjoys the company of other dogs and where he will be rehabilitated by insertion into a mentally balanced pack.
Are you a dog rescuer? Have you worked with similar cases in the past? Do you have a “balanced pack”? Do you CARE?
