Received an email from one of our members this morning. It was a desperate call for help.
Story goes like this… Our friend sees one of those turkish Facebook rescuers advertising a kitten on the street in mortal danger. The lady wouldn’t want to take it but she took a picture and expected someone else to do her duty.
So, our friend rushed to the location, got the kitty, took it home as they already have a friendly dog and they’ll be fostering him until a good home is found.
Nice rescue story right?
Well.. not really…
The kitty never made it home. Our friend’s mother just say NO.
So we now have a two month old kitty, at the most important moment in his life, the time when he must be socialized with other cats and become part of a pack, currently locked in a box in an istanbul vet.

All of this buy xanax prescription online because a mum said NO.

Someone gives me ONE good reason why a family with a cat should close their doors to a kitty in this way.

Give me ONE good reason.

Maybe it’s financial? Can’t be… the family is reasonably well off and the cost of fostering a healthy kitty is negligible.

Maybe is religious? Can’t be either…  In Islam cats are favored animals.  Besides, the family is not particulary religious and they already have a dog.

I will never understand… That single negative answer will mark forever the life of this small baby…

I truly hope this will reach someone in Turkey who has a cat already and can get this baby out of the box. The family needs to have at least one other cat, why? because if they don’t it’s 90% certain the family will dump the cat after a week. It’s sad but this is the state of affairs here.

that’s appalling what you say about a baby kitten costing very little is true I am in dire financial straights at the moment but I would rather go with out than have any 1 of my 5 animals suffer and if I was brought a little kitten with out a home I would find a way to keep it until another home could be found. I am sorry but she must be a very hard harted woman to be able to turn away a young animal like this

  2. She must well be and such a beautiful baby too. I am in about the same shape as you are DEBZ and I would do the same as you. For pete sake, it’s a baby, how much room would it need. I wish someone could speak to this lady and convince her, but if she feels that wa, she might be cruel to the kitten. Who knows hat makes people tick now a days. It’s sadder than sad.

Those of you who have had occasion to read my blog are well aware of the number of animals I have in my home. My home tribe of furry critters has grown to such large proportions because I CAN’T SAY NO! I can not turn my back on an animal who needs me. I am not rich, my husband and I are ordinary people, but money is not the driving factor. I can not say NO because then I would have the fate of that animal always on my conscience forever, and that I can not do. For me turning my back on such a small helpless creature as this would be a mortal sin. There are people out there however who just simply do not care about anything but themselves. Why would this woman turn away a helpless kitten? My mind can come up with no good reason, but I will say this, in the end Karma will come back to bite her in the ass!

I’m sorry, I love Let’sAdopt and I think it’s a great organization. I follow you on facebook and I really appreciate everything that you guys do. But I think this post is very simplistic in nature. You don’t know this person, so it’s unfair to make such assumptions about her. Hurt the kitten? Seriously? Who says she’s in good enough health? Who says she’s physically able to take care of another living creature? Especially a small kitten that needs so much care? Your argument is very one-sided, and I don’t think you’re being empathetic here at all.
Also, as head of such a big organization, I think the way you wrote this is very childish. In my opinion, people as inspirational as you are should stop judging people based solely on what other people say about them. Why not give logical reasons on why she SHOULD have taken the kitten, rather than simply saying she’s being stupid for not taking it? This woman was probably raised with the traditional Turkish thought and has set ideas on certain things… so why not try to change that rather than merely decrying it?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Ayse…

The truth is always simple. This post was written with full knowledge of the family. A family of animal lovers that has a problem, a mother that just says NO.
I tell you what will happen, the moment that young girl moves out of the house she’ll get an animal, or two, and she’ll resent her mother for the unhappy childhood she gave her.
This post wasn’t written to convince that mother of anything, but to show others the devastating effect of arbitrary decisions.
The truth is, there is no reason for that woman to save that puppy. It is not my place to try to explain people, raised a la turca or not, the sacred value of life.
Anyway… I found a foster home for the kitten.
The woman will be miserable all her life, and one day she’ll loose her daughter, and when this happens it will be her own doing.

  8. Viktor…we will go mad trying ti figure out why people do things! or don’t!
Thanks for caring and ALL that you do!

  9. just took in 3 more from the streets this last 4 weeks, they need a roof over their heads and we have one.
pray the borough doesn’t find out how many we have here LOL!

  10. Nina Davies says:

Perhaps the simple answer is that maybe the mother was allergic to cats ? Many people are, my son is allegic to cat fur so I was never able to have a cat in my home. Viktor you work miracles and never shirk from the ‘undoable’ , but why are you being so judgmental?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Nina.. maybe because I know the case first hand and I know there was no allergy or anything involved?

  11. Arzu Adakan says:

This woman clearly belongs to that overwhelming population of human beings who are selfish and don’t have any trace of compassion in their hearts and who won’t care at all to what happens to such a tiny little life. What matters is them only. Sickening.
Viktor, we can’t thank you enough. Another precious, innocent life saved. That life is worth much more to me than the life of any human that says “no”.

  12. i think maybe if she said no and doesnt want the animal then this kitten is going to be better off NOT having a home with this woman, animals, like children, should always be placed with people who truly want them and can care for them and give them lots of love!! what good would it do to leave the kitten with someone who is “negative” to caring for it, even if she did say yes!!??? but i also agree with ayse to a point, judging people in this way is counterproductive, you just have to say “ok, thats a no go” and move on 🙂

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Sure… move on and dealing with the disasters they cause.
Wait for today’s post.. I’ll show you what we truly deal with here.
