Durum öyle kötü ki Sahip Ç?kal?m! Veterinerlikte Kusursuzluk ödülünü koymak ve iyiyi kötüden ay?rmak gere?i duydu ki üyelerimiz hangi veterinerlerin hayvanlar?n? öldürmeyip kurtarabilece?ini bilsinler (Prof. Dr. Kür?at Öner bu ödülü almayacak mesela).
Ancak bazen, nadiren de olsa, ufak umut p?r?lt?lar? görüyoruz. Bula??c? sevgi ve hayvan hayat? kurtarma tutkusu olan gerçek profesyonellerin i?ine yak?ndan bir bak??….

Ona, kliniktekiler Joker dese de biz sürekli gülümseyen güzel yüzü nedeniyle Gülümser demeyi uygun bulduk.
?stanbul’daki bir veteriner klini?ine kutu içinde getirilmi?ti. Kutu aç?ld???nda klinik çal??anlar?n?n gördükleri manzara kar??s?nda dona kald?lar. Orada, 4 haftal?k minik bir bebek yat?yordu ve neredeyse tamamen kurtlar tamamen yenmi?ti. Solucanlar bir kula??n?, dudaklar?n? ve dilinin büyük bölümünü yemi?ti. Di?er bulgular? anlatm?yorum bile.
Sokak kedimiz akl?m?za gelebilecek en kötü durumdayd?.
Veterinerimiz hayvan? ba?tan aya?a kontrol etti. Durumu kritik görünüyordu.
Yine de bu bebek sava?maya kararl?ysa ona hayata tutunmak için her f?rsat? sa?layacaklar?na karar verdiler.
Gülümser gayet iyi. Müthi? bir sava?ç?. Enfeksiyonlara kar?? tüm gücüyle mücadele ediyor. Bir aslan?n i?tah?yla yemek yiyor ve sürekli ilgi istiyor, kollar?n?za ald???n?zda hemen ?ark?lar söylemeye ba?l?yor. Bu i?ten sa? salim ç?kaca??na ku?kumuz yok ama yine de sizden bu mele?e bir dua göndermenizi rica ediyoruz. Bugünkü mesaj?m?z?n amac? bu.

A Baby Miracle of Life
As most of you know from its inception, Let’s Adopt has been very vocal on the issue of the state of the Veterinary profession in our country, Turkey.
To put it very simply, things don’t look good at AT ALL.
We have it all here… Veterinarians that went into the Veterinary faculty not because they loved animals but because they couldn’t get into Medical Faculty, Veterinarians who went to work straight for municipalities with the only purpose of stray dog control and who show a total is there a generic xanax xr lack of compassion and empathy for the animals they capture.
Veterinarians who at the sight of a broken leg will, simply, amputate. Or put the cast straight on the skin of the animal.
It is so bad that we have had to come up with the initiative of the Let’s Adopt! Award for veterinary excellence with the only goal of separating the good from the bad and let our members know which vets will save their animal instead of killing it (Prof. Dr. Kursat Oner will definitely NOT qualify for this award).
But then, sometimes, very rarely, we have slight glimmers of hope.
Rare insight into the work of true professionals with a contagious love and passion for saving animal lives.
This is one of those cases.
We have called her Gülümser (one who always smiles) for she has the sweetest smile on her sweet face, although the people at the clinic call her Joker.
She was brought to an Istanbul veterinary clinic in a box. When the box was opened the staff at the clinic gasped in horror. There it laid, a four week old kitten almost completely devoured by worms. The worms had eaten one of her ears, her lips and most of her tongue. I will spare you from the rest of the diagnosis…
A stray cat in the worst possible conditions you could ever imagine.
Our vet checked the animal thoroughly. The condition was critical.
Still, they decided if the kitten wanted to fight back she would be given all chances to survive.
Gülümser is doing much better. She is a great fighter. She is fighting infection with all her might. She is eating like a lion and constantly asks for attention, purring when you take her in your arms. We have no doubt she will make it and the purpose of this post is to ask you to send a little prayer to this little angel.
Over the following weeks we will be updating you in Gülümser’s evolution.

İnsan bu minik bebeği görünce gözyaşlarını tutamıyor:( Vicdani duyguları olan veterinerlerin varlığına hiç denk gelmedim, bu veterinerlere teşekkür ediyorum çok ve umarım bir önce en iyi duruma gelir diyorum…
This is horrible what happened to that little kitty! Poor thing, to be eaten alive by worms. Didn’t anyone hear her cries as those worms tore into her flesh?
I am so happy that Someone had the Courage to place her in a box and bring her to this Very Kind and Courageous Veterinarian. There is no need to publish the Vet’s name, if that is their wish. I am just So Very Glad that there are people like this Vet who have so much Heart and Soul, even a blind person would be able to see.
I hope that this little kitty will soon get better and that this Angel of a Vet will have the skills to graft some skin on the lips of the little kitten so that it won’t have to suffer anymore, and she will once again be able to “smile” like other kittens.

will its teeth and mouth grow back so that it can eat on its own without the care of a person for the rest of its life?
how do you assess whether it is to further the suffering of this animal for extending its life because it will be difficult, painful or emotionally distressful for the rest of its life to simply eat (will it ever enjoy eating)… or whether it is more compassionate to apply euthenasia so that it can go to kitty heaven or into the state of cat-buddha to be reborn into a better life because it has suffered so?
if our goal is to end suffering and we have the power to help this and respect its life, is ‘too much love and a ‘fighter’ really brutality in disguise?

I am so happy to see that people in Turkye also care. I love animals and I do everything that I can to help them, because they cannot speak. I have 10 cats of my own, they are such wonderful pets. Each and every cat has their own personality. This little Angel is in my prayers, and I know that she will get better!!! Insha Allah!!

To everyone who looks after her feeds and gives her love Bless you you will be rewarded. I love to give this little princess a great home with my 2 boys (Siamese) who are loved and have the very best of everything, unfortunately I live in South Africa, and if the air fare was reasonable I would. Give this princess a love, a hug and a kiss from me.

Sending your little kitten all my love and prayers, hoping that she’ll keep her fighting spirit and pull through to live a happy life. What tragedy she has been through in her already brief little life. Kudos to the vet and his/her staff who decided to give this kitty a chance! And to you for making a difference in Turkey today.

Thank-you to everyone that has done the right thing for this kitten. It doesn’t matter how bad things get, if the will & strength to live is still there we have a duty to protect, care for & support the animal. The vet involved is clearly somebody who went into the profession for the right reasons & they have done a wonderful job in caring for this little one, who has as much right to live as the next. Bravo Viktor and all involved in Let’s Adopt, I look forward to hearing of her progress.
