KARI
Stray kitty Kari’s story is short, for now, and it is up to you if it will get any longer.
Kari was lucky to be saved in crazy circumstances. Walking past an abandoned house her rescuer heard faint mewling. She gathered up her courage, approached the dilapidated building and opened the front door. What she found inside was beyond dismaying — a beautiful and exhausted little cat was lying on the floor, unable to move. The rescuer picked her up and took her outside in the sun, but the gentle girl just lay there listlessly.
Kari is emaciated, dehydrated, unable to stand on her feet, a fragile life on the brink of extinction. She was placed immediately on IV fluids and is being monitored 24/7 while we expect results from blood, biochemistry and viral tests to shed more light on the state of her tiny exhausted body.
After kitty was secure in the clinic we went back and spoke to people from the neighborhood. What we found out shocked us — Kari had disappeared more than two weeks ago and nobody knew where she was. People who helped her survive on the street had searched for her, to no avail.
WHAT NOW?
We will never know what actually transpired that resulted in Kari being trapped in the old house. With windows and doors still intact, the building’s closed front door had turned into a deadly obstacle. Was it the wind that slammed it, blocking her way out? Or was it people, deciding to play a cruel joke on a hapless animal? We don’t know and probably never will.
What we do know is that we want to save Kari’s life, and we need your help to do it.
