On a sunny summer day, not different than any that had come before it, a living creature’s  entire luck suddenly ran out, a future was lost and a life stood still.

On that deadly day Vyolet was hit by a car.

Vyolet was found on a busy road, unmoving and in shock
Vyolet was found on a busy road, unmoving and in shock

We will never know what happened , but kind people found Vyolet lying helpless on a busy road, immobile and in shock. They immediately took her to a veterinary clinic, where the terrifying discovery was a broken back. A complicated surgery was urgently performed with the hope of repairing some of the damage, but it was unsuccessful and Vyolet’s hind legs remained paralyzed.

The damage to the spine was irreparable

Many people rushed in to help. Time passed and most of them slowly wondered off on their own paths. One person was left patiently walking the lonely road of Vyolet’s salvation. Perhaps she didn’t matter enough to the others.

We suspect Vyolet had owners — she was in great health, very social and obviously used to people; unfortunately she was not microchipped. Vyolet’s story received much attention in the social networks. Why her owners didn’t come forward remained a mystery. Perhaps she didn’t matter to them either.

Vyolet has no sensitivity in the back of her body and needs help peeing. Her human will need to gently push on her belly in a particular place in order to initiate urinating. This is a skill, easy to learn under the guidance of a veterinary professional.

Vyolet does not leak urine between walks. She also fully controls defecating, and waits like any other dog to do #2 only outside when walked.

Vyolet is a pitbul, about 1.5 years old. Incredibly obedient and easy going, she constantly wants to cuddle, and is dynamic, playful & clever. She is friendly with people and loves kids; she gets along nicely with other dogs and does not show aggression towards cats.

Vyolet walks with the help of a specially designed wheelchair, which she is already used to.

With the exception of her daily walks, she spends her days in a cage at a boarding facility, where she patiently expects the right pair of eyes to catch a glimpse of her.

The road from Vyolet’s last crossroad does not turn left or right.

The road stretches only straight ahead or dead back. Ahead she can go only with the help of a special person, who would open his home and heart for her. Behind Vyolet the road ends with the classic ‘euthanasia because of poor quality of life’ — which is not an option in our world.

So if we don’t find that special person for her, Vyolet will remain forever waiting on that last crossroad — broken, forgotten and unneeded.

Please do not allow this to happen.
Please share Vyolet’s story, because to us and to you — she matters.

So sorry for so nice dog. But something I think as weird is there isn’t anyone to miss theirs dogs or cats. If our dog has run away I have been hysterical and ask in fb, phone the police, out and look after her self with my husband, by other words I or we have done everything we could. But never I have seen you have wrote at the real owner came and got theirs dog back. I don’t understand why? Here in Sweden we have a insurance to your pets if you want to have this and it cost different prizes including what you want to have in your insurance. You can not get the insurace to pay in vaccination or in ordinary healthy teeth or when you decide to spay your pets. We have insurances to our both “child” the dog and cat. I have always say I will not have an pets here if I don’t have money to the insurance. You must not to have it but if the accident come or your pets are sick in other way so that are very good to have. You must always pay a deductible the firs time with the veterinary when the pets been sick. I wonder have they insurances for the pets in other countries like UK, USA or in Indonesia or some more or are the only we in Scandinavia there have this?

Thank you for writing to us. We also can’t understand how people can be so irresponsible with their animals. There is pet insurance in most developed countries, so responsible owners should be able to provide good care for their animals.
