Today, someone brought his beautiful cat to our vet´s clinic. He wanted to have him euthanised.

The reason? Larry always had issues with the cheap commercial food they were given him and last year he developed a series of urinary tract infections that became recurrent.

They were advised a change in diet but they never did it. In the end the infections became worst and worst and finally they ended up destroying Larry´s penis, now in a terrible state, infected and necrotic.

They decided Larry is suffering and to spare him more pain they would rather kill him.

And so… today they brought him to the vet to do precisely that, kill him.

I was there. I explained to them that Larry didn´t need to die but by then they had already taken a decision, they didn´t want to go through further treatment, visits to vet and a possible surgery.

So, at that stage I told them I would like to take responsibility for Larry from this moment on. At first I thought they may reject this possibility but to my surprise they accepted right away and they released him to me.

So Larry is ours now… it is time to end his pain… but by saving his life, not by killing him!!!

LARRY NEEDS AN VERY DELICATE OPERATION… IT´S CALLED AN PERINEAL URETHEROSTOMY… That is, the creation of a stoma, a new, artificial outlet, for the ureter. In order to do this WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO AMPUTATE LARRY´S PENIS AND BUILD A NEW EXIT…

I know it sounds terribly painful, but it´s the only way for Larry to have his life back again.

PLEASE WATCH LARRY´S VIDEO:

Larry is currently peeing through the urinary catheter you see on the video. We need to operate him as soon as possible, and the earliest we can do it will be in little over 48 hours, on Friday evening…

We don’t have much time… He can´t continue as it is..

This incredible cat has gone through the kind of surgery that we don´t wish to any animal, the amputation of his penis, but it was necessary in order to save his life.
Last Friday this incredible community rallied together and we helped Larry go to surgery.. .
THIS IS THE RESULT!!!

    Larry looks like my Peanut!
It´s heartbreaking to see someone would value so little the life of his friend that he wouldn´t even try to fix his health issues.
Don´t worry Larry, we are here to help you.
Donated, please Viktor, please keep us posted on his surgery.
    Martin

  2. He looks like a cat I had called Rueben….will be making a donation as soon as funds permit…he is so beautiful……x

  3. Daisy Estrella says:

My adopted cat Orion suffered the same illness, the first time I took him to the vet, he had his first surgery. Two months later Orion was sick again, this time the vet found that his urethra was completely sealed, he had to go on surgery in no more than 24 hours or he would die. The next day he had his Uretherstomy procedure done. It was expensive, yes, and poor Orion returned home looking like a Raggedy Ann doll. But he survived and it was worth it. Seven years has passed and Orion, also an orange tabby , is doing good. He is on a special diet and well care for.
I know Larry is in good hands, and have a second chance just like Orion had.

Good luck and all the best to Larry and his “team” – for the operation and the further healing process from Vienna, Austria! One question, Viktor: Aren’t you associated with Rima and HeArtofRescue?

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Thank you Werner…
Heart of Rescue is a rescue based in Turkey. We have been friends and helped each other for years. They are great people..

  5. Annie Markichevich says:

Just donated. We have a cat, Sid, with a similar surgery. In addition he had his left hindquarter amputated due to owner neglect of an Injury. Sid is the smartest, most loving boy! And he can out climb the others. We take in abused, feral, and special needs cats , when we can.

  6. Lorraine Winson says:

Good luck Larry. You are in the safest hands in the world.

  7. susan gordon says:

    I donated to handsome Larry.
Thank GOD they brought him to you.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Susan!!!

  8. sarah pratley says:

Poor Larry. if his owners really cared about him they would have changed his diet. You shouldn’t be able to take an animal in and request that they are euthanised. Thank God you were there, Viktor. At least Larry’s in the right hands now and you’ll do the best for him.

  9. He looks just like my Jeremiah. I can’t donate much but hopefully it will help. Save this beautiful boy.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Valorie!

  10. Shirley Schaeffer says:

My cat, Spike, who has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge due to Cancer, has urinary tract infection, but I caught it early as I always watch my cats carefully and all it took was special vet food which really is not that expensive. How horrible those people are. I hope they have their names blacklisted from ever owning cats or any animals again. Makes me so angry people can spend money on stupid things but just a little budgeting can put a little more to good food and care for their pets.

      Many thanks Sneha!…

  14. I had a Manx named Bob who had this exact surgery done about 20 yrs ago. He lived to be 18; had this surgery done at the age of 6. He did very well but he leaked after that surgery. My daughter made up a diaper system using of all things, panty hose to hold the diaper on Bob. He learned to live with this, to potty when she took the diaper off. I know that things have improved since Bob had this done on his penis. Praying that Larry does well also. He is so gorgeous and Vicktor, you will find him the purrfect home. God bless you both!!

  21. Maire Hurme says:

When possible I have tried to donate for cats and dogs in your care, Viktor. I have not much money, but stories like this one makes me open my thin purse and and donate when it’s most needed. I really hope you can save this poor cat <3

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

I promise you we are going to do our best!.. Many thanks Maire!!!

  22. That poor sweet boy. He looks like he doesn’t understand why he’s been in so much pain. And urinary tract infections can be painful – I can’t even imagine how painful to get as bad as he’s had them… I hope people don’t shy away from donating because of the delicate nature of the operation he needs. I just donated and I will be thinking of Larry tomorrow! Hopefully he is well medicated and loved and given lots of petting and kindness so that he knows he is safe. Tomorrow when he feels different maybe he will start to know he will be ok and will be pain free. Bless you Larry, love you little buddy.

  23. Steve McHugh says:

Many thanks MC… Larry is going to help Larry today…
      Let´s do it!

  26. My heart just went out to this precious boy. I had a cat that kept getting utis. despite a raw, species appropriate diet, homeopathic and herbal interventions and veterinary care. He suffered so much and we would have done anything to help him but nothing was working. We finally decided to have the vet come to our home to euthanize him as he said there was nothing else he could do for him and that about ripped my heart out. It took a couple of years before my husband and I could even talk about him without crying. As strange as the surgery sounds that Larry is going to have, I would have done that for my boy if there had been a doctor, that I trusted, that could do it. Made a small donation in honor of my sweet boy Chico. Thank you so much, LAG, for going the extra mile to save lives.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Im very sorry Patty…
      In Chico´s memory…
      Viktor

  27. Cheryl A. Aaron says:

I’ve donated before and I’m donating again. These animals are worth the sacrifice. I hope the little I’ve donated combined with others’ will be more than enough to save Larry’s life. Thanks for all you do…peace.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for being there and supporting our animals on their journeys..

  28. Thank God that you have Larry now!! Praying that surgery would be sucssesful and Larry can live his life like other cats!!! Shame on the owner that let this condition drag till now and Larry suffer!!! I hope some day he finds a real home and real family to love him and care for him!! I donated for his surgery with hope and prayers!!!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for your help Shahla!

  29. How is Larry? I hope he makes a full recover

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

He is going to be operated in one hour… Ill be updating on our Facebook page..

  30. Winona Johnston says:

What person does nothing for an animal that must be in awful pain? His little penis was rotting away. He probably was in terrible pain just to urinate. Please help this beautiful little boy get the operation and then somebody please offer him a home of love. (Donated)

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Many thanks Winona!!! thank you

  31. Karen Whitt says:

i have a cat that had this surgery and he is doing marvelous! I do have to feed him special dietary food for urinary problems, but he loves it and all is well. PLEASE allow him to have this surgery and feed him the special food from now on. He deserves it!

  32. Poor dear Larry!!! Shared on my FB wall.

  33. My feral boy Roger kept getting blocked from urinary crystals. I say feral because he was, but he was still our indoor cat. He was happy inside our home but we were never able to pick him up, hold him or even pet him. We loved him just the same.

Anyway, we had the P/U surgery done too. He recovered nicely! Since he was so wild, we were not able to medicate him with the antibiotics and pain meds necessary for his recovery. So, the vet taught us how to give shots and we took him home. Each day we had to ‘trap’ him, toss a big blanket over him and give him his shots. He had no idea how much we loved him!!!! Thus began my foray into the animal rescue world!

He recovered and did fabulous for the rest of his life. He passed away 2 months ago at the age of 16. I am sure he would have lived longer but his litter mate sister who, oddly enough was not feral died from cancer and he was so distraught, he stopped eating and died 10 days later.

In the end, those last few years, he finally conceded to let us pet his head. He knew he was loved and I miss him terribly!

All this is to say, Larry will do just fine and go on to lead a very happy life.

THANK YOU for all you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for sharing Roger´s story with us Ramona… I´m sure he knew how much you loved him, he just didn´t know how to acknowledge everything you were doing for him…
      Rest in peace Roger boy…

  34. Nancy Neimeth says:

Such an angel – this beautiful boy looks like my Morgen. Donating and praying for sweet Larry with much love – may he make a full and swift recovery and find a wonderful forever home where he will be adored and cherished every single day.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for your assistance to Larry Nancy!.. thank you!

  35. Kristen Sayers says:

As someone who has rescued many ‘dumped off’ cats over the years, – dumped off by idiots who saw my barn and figured I wouldn’t mind a few more cats – I am very familiar with having to care for cats on a budget. There are some “not-so-expensive” dry cat foods that work well for many cats prone to urinary problems. Purina Plus Care has worked for my cats who have needed it. It isn’t all they get to eat, but it solved the problem when the expensive alternative didn’t. I can imagine it would not work for all cats, but is worth a try if a person doesn’t have a lot of money to spend. $ donated and I hope Larry is ok

  36. I wish Larry all the luck in the world, my heart weeps for all animals who are suffering especially cruelty by so called humans!
I hope my little donation will help. If possible I would love to know how Larry progresses!
Thank you for all the good work that you do❤️

  37. I DONATE MONTHLY.
How is Larry doing since his op?

  38. Angi Parkinson says:

When I first saw the pain Larry was in it broke my heart. But knowing he was in your safe and caring hands, I saw hope and knew you would do everything in your power to save his life. Thank you from Larry and Thank you from me.

  39. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for saving this precious life – this special boy!!!!!!!!!!

  40. I wish more ppl would understand the importance of feeding a decent diet. So many illness could be prevented. I feel so sorry that Larry is in so much pain and agony but there will be, hopefully, a good future in store for this handsome boy. I’m about to lose my oldest boy, 18 yrs, mostly from kidney failure. I’ll feel lucky to have him one more week. I’m on disability and don’t have much but I didn’t and never would think of money when it would come to any of my cats lives.
Vet fees are astronomical but don’t get an animal if you’re not willing to spend on them willingly.

  41. Heike Karimzadeh says:

Im so happy about every rescue of a poor darling-humans responsibility is to care on animals in needs and pain!I hope,he has a good life now!Where he is living-sorry I dont use fb-I cant look. Can someone here give me Information?

  42. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All cat owners! Feed your cats quality food! All of my cats, my personal cats and TNR colony cats, love Purina Naturals dry, but they also get canned food daily and have plenty of water. Male cats that only eat cheap dry food and drink little water, which most cats do, will wind up with the illness and a lot of pain. Pay a few extra dollars for good cat food and treat them to a can a day. Canned food is mostly water.
