There are some sights you never get used to. An animal suffering. The sight of a little puppy, scared but at the same time desperately, silently, asking for help.

He is not even strong enough to bark, but the way he moves tells me there is something terribly wrong with him. And then I see it… blood dripping from behind and alongside his tiny legs.

Anal prolapse. His lower intestine is hanging out.

He is in a desperate position. Unless we act, his lower intestine will become necrotic and he will die of septicemia.

I give him a name. A great name. A name filled with dignity and greatness for a little whimpering puppy. Right there and then he is named Eagle.

I grab him and hold him tight against my chest. I don´t have a proper carrier to I place him at the passenger´s feet and rush to our clinic. His looks tell me, plead me: Save me.

He is the sweetest thing I´ve ever seen. His eyes seem to grow as they become fixated on mine, and so, in that awkward position he falls asleep, exhausted.

Eagle is at our clinic in Intensive care. His blood results show tremendous anemia and dehydration. His little body has been pushed to the limit for quite a few days. A big chunk of his intestine is already necrotic which makes this quite a delicate operation. A portion of his intestine will have to be cut off, all dead tissue will have to be removed.

His age and size make of this a very risky procedure but there is no alternative.  Either we do this or he will die.

PLEASE WATCH EAGLE´S RESCUE VIDEO AND YOU´LL UNDERSTAND THE URGENCY OF THE SITUATION ..

Eagle is on Intensive Care right now. He is receiving fluid therapy and we are working hard is improve his anemia and other indicators to make sure he is be able to survive the surgery.

We live in a warped world… it´s very tempting to fall into despair and think that nothing will ever change, and who knows, maybe that´s so…. but of one thing we can be certain… together, today, we can save a little puppy´s life. To him, and to us, that should be all that matters.

P.S. After Eagle´s surgery and treatment is over, he is going to need an extraordinary home where he can enjoy the most amazing life.
If you are that home PLEASE write a letter to me on viktor@myletsadopt.com telling me everything about you and your family of animals.

P.S. Please follow Eagle´s updates at our page, Let´s Adopt Global

I once rescued a puppy with the same condition. Our vet operated him immediately but the next day his condition returned. He then had to be operated again, this time they had to cut some of the intestines. It was hard but he made it. Diamond lived with us until he passed at the ripe age of 18.
Be strong Eagle, you have a great life ahead of you.
Donated 50 in memory of Diamond.

I love your tireless effort in changing and saving lives of so many. Thank you for doing the most amazing work on my behalf and the behalf of other animal lovers around the world.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks for your note Janie. I´m glad you arrived to us. The only reason we can continue our efforts (they are not tireless, we are most of the times exhausted), it´s because you, and others like you are there.
      Love … Viktor

Humans are the worst breed of all!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

No Kevin… there are multiple possible reasons, but it´s most likely due to a massive infestation of parasites that lead to weakened intestinal muscles..

  20. Debbie Sanguedolce says:

Mike Gonzales – Sorry to say you are wrong …. I have two rescues … my sweet Sarah recently got sick and I used whatever money I had to pay her vet bill, my bank account is so empty that I could NOT pay for the 9 medications that keep me alive. Viktor knows that IF I have a little money, it goes to LAG …… Yes, I go without to make sure my two rescues will never have to. Please do NOT judge those of us who DO NOT HAVE what you termed “a little small donation doesn’t hurt your wallet.” ….. ONLY God can judge ME … Sorry Viktor but peeple like Mr Gonzales do NOT know what others might be going thru ….. Today all I can do is PRAY FOR EAGLE!! God knows that is all I have left to give

  21. Pamela Eikleberry says:

  28. Maritza Sahlin says:

This people as do this to animals should be hanging slowly and they should pain to death before they be hanging. I sit every day and read your text on the different animals and I never never understand how sick people we have on the earth. I wish I could donate something but I can’t. Now in next month I should go with our cat and dog to vaccination and clean the tooth and this I have wait and spare my money in 3 month to do, so I hope you understand me but if I win some time then I donate money to you.
Give all the animals you have an big hug from me.

    Best regards
    Maritza in Sweden

  29. How is Eagle doing? How is the recovery going?
Is there any home interested in adoption?

  30. I sure wish I would’ve seen this video shortly after it was created and then posted online because I would’ve done just about anything to adopt little Eagle and bring him home to California with me!
