“The Little dog is much worst!! He continues bleeding! Is there anyone that can pay for the vet? Even if it’s to euthanize him, if there is nothing to do at least he will not suffer”!

This is what I received a couple of nights ago. In the picture I could see a white terrier, obviously in a lot of pain, bleeding…

The poster, an organization in Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands was desperately asking for funds. Apparently. no vet in the island wanted to take the case without previous payment in full and in their desperation they were asking for funds to euthanize him right away to spare him suffering.

It was heartbreaking.. noone had really done any proper checks, noone understood the extent of the injuries and the dog was going to die without ever having the chance to be treated.

We couldn’t let this happen!. A few calls later and the best clinic in the island was ready to receive their new little guest under the responsibility of Let’s Adopt!. They asked us if he had a name.. We named him HANNIBAL!!!!…

Hannibal has internal injuries that we are trying to control and we are conducting a battery of tests in order to ascertain the gravity of the situation. He’s currently at the clinic being administered strong painkillers, IV theraphy and antibiotics to reduce infection.

Hannibal’s life is on the line… this is also our first rescue in the Canary Islands and we don’t have any assistance on the ground. To the obvious gravity of the situation we must add the logistical issues.. at this stage we really don’t know how things are going to evolve.

This is a LIVE RESCUE and at this stage everything is pretty much an unknown…  All our rescues are community efforts, and it’s us, together, that will make possible the rescue of this little guy that finds himself in such a complicated situation.

Please, give us a hand, and if you can, contribute and help us SAVE HANNIBAL’s LIFE today..

*As always, any funds left over after treating Hannibal will go towards other rescues under our care.

Many thanks

Viktor

P.S. As usual we will update on Hannibal’s condition through our page: Let’s Adopt! Global.

After Hannibal is treated and saved he’s going to need a home. Please, if you would like to adopt this little fighter, please write to me on viktor@myletsadopt.com

UPDATE March 4

Hannibal is doing great!!  Within a week from our post one of our volunteers traveled to Fuertaventura to pick up Hannibal and transport him safely to Madrid to continue his treatment and recovery and live in a wonderful and loving foster home…

UPDATE 11 July 2014… It´s been a year and a half since Hannibal was rescued.

What a rescue that was… poor baby, but he was very lucky in the end. The fosters completely fell in love with him and could never let him go. He remained part of that family and hell stay with them forever.

Hannibal´s rescue is one of the hundreds of rescues we do every year, animals that find themselves at the end of the rope, in dire straits, with absolutely no hope … until they find us.

Help us continue rescuing animals like Hannibal. We can’t do it without you..

Many thanks!!

Viktor

  9. So glad there’s people like You who care about these all of these little ‘angels’.. When I first read the story, I thought ” It’s SO sad that ANY practicing vet would not ‘euthanize’ an animal in such pain.” That part of the story really ‘angered’ me… but then I continued reading & saw where You took Him in : ) Goes to show that thankfully GOD is in control & had better plans for Hannibal ! Thank You SO much and I pray God will richly ‘bless’ You for all the work you do ; )

  52. Jeffrey Vaughn says:

I’ve only recently discovered your site when a Fbook friend shared Queen’s plight. I am so sorry for her passing. I run a rather small rescue facility compared to yours with most of our animals in relatively good health with moderate medical attention needed. Some, however, have been so abused and neglected they take months to heal and re-socialize to the degree that they trust people again. We have about 40 animals in our care at any one time and feel like I’m fighting a losing war so I’m thrilled to have discovered your existence. I feel less alone in our efforts and more hope when I find marvelous efforts like yours. Perhaps it’s not a losing war after all. My love and prayers are with you and wish I could help with a donation but I’m afraid my dollars are already committed to hungry bellies, supplies and vet bills.

Reminds me of a little terrier I rescued in northern Cyprus. He had the weight of 10 fur coats on him so scruffy and under all the fur so mal nourished he got hit by a car and as I used to feed him he dragged himself to my home.thank god the vet managed to save him.once he was well enough we got rid of his coats what a handsome boy he was. I Cried my eyes out.we named Him scruffy when he Was Walking The Streets but by god not scruffy any more.like your rescueriers We couldnt let Him back on The streets there.
