Last week Turkey was shocked by  the gruesome murder of a little stray cat in Bornova, Izmir. His name was Yamuk.

Yamuk’s death was brutal,  painful in its randomness and, unlike the deaths of so many, it became public, for anyone to see. The killer Ufuk Gunaydin, was arrested and released after  paying a fine of 657 Turkish Liras (close to 450 American Dollars).

This event brought memories of another murder, one that took place over a year ago, in Istanbul, the killing of Ebru, the dog of the Marmara Hotel. In that ocassion there were no cameras to film the horrific actions, but the result was the same, a helpless animal dying in pain and reminding each and everyone of us that there are killers amongst us.

Turkish society has finally awaken to the bitter reality of animal cruelty, and stands united in condemnation, in demand for stronger laws to punish animal cruelty.

The media is finally listening, and the legislator in Ankara has got the message. The current state of affairs is not to be tolerated any longer.

The problem is, laws must apply to everyone. As of today, the biggest perpetrator of animal cruelty in this country are the municipalities themselves. Rogue Mayors all across the nation coninue to ignore the Law and continue organising poisoning campaigns. In most cities, starting by Istanbul, animal shelters are nothing but massive concentration camps for dogs run by municipalities and shelter managers who seem to be there for nothing but releasing their sadistic impulses.

It is time for the Mayors of this country to understand that the situation of the animals in their cities is not just a problem to manage, it is one of the most evident and obvious signs of their failures or success as leaders of the society.

So far most of them, starting by Kadir Topbas, the Mayor of Istanbul Greater Municipality are failing miserably.

Turkey has one of the world’s most progressive Animal Rights Laws. The entire country is No-Kill, something that places us at the level of Germany. The demonstration of Saturday in Istanbul, the biggest show of support this country has ever seen  shows that Turkey is ready for change.

Today I am filled with the hope that maybe, just maybe, one day Turkey will be regarded as a place where animals are treated with respect and compassion, and Mayors across the nation will understand that society holds them accountable.

Ghandi wrote: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. I am sure each and every attendant to the demonstration yesterday will agree with me that, by those standards Turkey is still near the bottom of the ladder.

Change is at the reach of this generation, we are in the right path but we must all get to work.

For the animals

i’m very happy to see turkish citizens joining together to show how important this is to them. i am so sorry for the horrific murder and hope change will result from it…………may it be the end of such things.

  2. ANGRY IN WA says:

THOSE MOTHER FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT. I HOPE THEY GET SEVERELY PUNISHED FOR THIS!
my hands are shaking,I can barely type.

  3. Much respect to all the people dedicated to making changes for the animals x

  4. Presumably these monsters have been identified and their lives made miserable. Where the law falls down the public is beginning to step up and take justice into their own hands. These voiceless souls have voices now. Many loud voices.

  5. LISA WIATER says:

it is all “wonderful” & idealic to prasie “the change” in turkey &/or the unusual publicity this received but did the disgusting, useless waste of life that did this get caught??? punished???? the ones who forced the cat out of the box &/or… the f**ing peice of s**t that stomped this cat to death until it’s blood was shed all over the sidewalk???? those boys & the parents that raised these monsters should die equally horrific deaths…. i can only hope awful things on them… i hope they are being raped & beaten repeatedly in some god forsaken prison somewhere….

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Lisa…

His punishment was inadequate, this will turn into a strenghtening of sanctions.
As for him? His life is ruined. He is the most hated man in this country. He has had to move cities, his girlfriend has left him, so all his friends.
He has been expelled from University, he will never have a decent job AND, to top this up the Army wants him now that he is not a student.
Guess what is going to happen to him in those military baracks?
Law must have been leniant, but life has punished him… big time.

  6. yamuk and ebru’s death may not be forgotten, people are making the whole nation to stop other cats and dogs from having the same fate. this is a good news, great job!

  7. Jean Hehn-Bradley says:

    Glad for you all!

  8. Erkan Moray says:

Thanks for the sharing. I hope this is the beginning of the revolution for the animal rigths.

  9. Sarah Heaney says:

I couldn’t watch it all – its horrendous. Please tell me these people will be properly punished then go to hell. How can people do this???? What can we do to stop this????

  10. To understand the larger aspect of preventing and prosecuting animal cruelty the society must understand that a person that will harm an innocent animal has some type of sociopathic defects therefore posing a threat to society. Its proven over and over in studies and in countries where we uphold these laws that these people or perpetuators usually go on to hurt innocent and weaker humans.

The Educational system as well as the media must also educate for the respect of animals and those that live amongst us. They have needs, feelings and emotions and they deserve respect. They have different habits that are normal for the species not behavioral problems as many assume incorrectly. There is still a long way to go but at least the path is being paved.

  11. I hope things continue to get better for the Animals. People need to continue to voice their need for change or it will be forgotten. Keep up the good work !

  12. ulgen guleri says:

THERE WERE ALWAYS VICTIMS AFTER THE BIG REVOLUTIONS. REST IN PEACE LITTLE SWEAT CAT. HIS NAME WAS “IŞIK”. THIS MEANS “LIGHT”. HE WAS THE LIGHT HIMSELF BY HIS DEATH. POOR OLD BOY… GOD BLESS YOU AND THE REST. I’M PRAYING FOR THIS.

  13. cest monstrueux de tue un pauvre chat qui ne faisait pas de mal a personne….ca sert a quoi autant de cruaute gratuite

  14. Denise LaChance says:

I am filled with respect and admiration for all the people who have joined in to protest the treatment of animals in Turkey and the horrible death of this cat. Blessings to you all

  15. Julia Leyva Augier says:

Death Penalty for Ufuk Gunaydin! Such a worthless subhuman doesnt deserve mercy! He should suffer for what he has done to that poor helpless kitty. . Burn in hell, Ufuk Gunaydin! GOD will repay!

  16. Aida Marina says:

I am Just SO RABID with Anger that this little cat, hiding in a box for shelter, not harming anyone, is kicked out of his makeshift home and, when he emerges carefully and innocently, because he has almost no fear of humans, a dog is set on him, yet the even the dog leaves him alone. But, that isn’t sufficient for the two-legged Monster who crushes this little cats head, twice, and leaves only because Monster’s “friend” makes him leave. Yet, the little innocent cat is left dying as his life’s blood runs out of him.

This little animal did not deserve this death, no animal does. We need more animals and less Monsters on this planet – and, unfortunately, they exist on every single continent. These creatures should not be allowed to live or should be kept from ever being born.

We as “Humans” should not enable nor stand for this type of horror on the innocent. Never turn a blind eye. Always see, prevent, and take action!

  17. I have no words, only feelings of deep sadness for this poor baby.

  20. Katerina Charisiadou says:

It’s very sad to see that still in the year 2010 young people treat animals like that just for fun… On the other hand it is great to see so many people gathering to protest against animal abuse! I hope that in the following years the awareness about animal rights will increase and all of us will help on this matter!
Greece is also at “the bottom of the ladder” regarding animal welfare matters and incidents of abuse are -unfortunately- a daily phenomenon.
I hope that our countries will -finally- reach the “western world” standards on this matter and this can inly happen if we are pressing governments and educate young people.
Congratulations for the great demonstration and I wish you all the best in your efforts and fights!

P.S.I hope that this bastard gets what he deserves! And I don’t mean the money that he already paid as a fine…

  21. Catherine Lee says:

I normally won’t look at things like the vid above for the sake of my own sanity, but I figured I could handle it; it was short and it would be blurry and difficult to see anyway… right? No. I cannot even fathom the evil that is within that man. His friends are barely better and should be held accountable too. So many emotions and thoughts threaten to consume me. I would echo Aida Marina, who commented earlier, but she said it so eloquently, there is no need.

So many innocents have been lost this way, and few even notice. I pray the change in Turkey (and worldwide!) continues to spread and develop so that tragedies like this become a thing of the past…

  22. I am glad turkey is changing for the better of the animals but want to see harsher punishment for the people doing these crimes!!

  23. I’m so glad the people of Turkey are finally seeing the mistakes made in their country. I really wish people in the U.S. would do this as well. Animal deaths are wrong no matter how they are done. There is a humane way to do this if the animal can’t be cured or it is too late. I’m hoping for a NO Kill Nation everywhere. RIP little one. Things will be a lot better now. No one will harm you.

  24. Brian Vandenberg says:

Please everybody share this story on facebook and elsewhere you can. A story the world needs to see.

  25. Wow, i never thought so many turkish people would stand up for animal rights. The media only shows the bad things. I’m impressed, much respect to those people. Keep up the good work its great to see there are still humans showing sympathy to other beings. Rest in Peace Yamuk, your cruel death concerned many of us.

  26. Derya Demir says:

Burn in hell Ufuk Gunaydin.. I hope someone crushes your skull soon.. Your little brain, if you have any, would not get how wonderful animals are.. How precious.. On the other hand, you are just a dirt.. Rot in hell..

  27. Great news! This is very inspiring… We should all unite against the animal abuses!

  28. I can’t believe what I just saw. I really hope the people of Turkey and for that matter our world will do something about animal abuse. Cuz, if they do it too this poor innocent cat human’s are next on the list. I for one was sickened by it but, in showing hopefully awareness will follow. RIP Yamuk.

  29. I think we dont need to wait for another killing will happend to each country before we make actions…lets all unite and protect all the animals in the world so both of us will live here on earth as happy as we want….

  30. Kelly Christian says:

    What happened to Ebru??

  31. May the 2 Babies Yamuk and Erbu forever Rest In Peace!
It is a pity that only now the Turkish people have awaken to the atrocities that are happening… but is better late than never!
Hopefully… now that the people has awaken… the State start taking measures to ensure that Stricter and Harsher punishement are to be issued as well as all those related with it… carries it all properly!
God Bless you all and all our 4 legged cousins who depend on us to be their voice!

  32. wish someone would have cared enough to give the little cat a home before this happened … did U-fuk get to keep his dog?

  33. Karen Cannon says:

I told myself I shouldn’t watch this and I should have listened. I am sick now. In my wildest dreams, I can’t imagine why someone would be that cruel to an innocent animal. I can only hope that Yamuk’s death can have some meaning, as it seems to have, and people will see that this is not acceptable and try to change things. I’m glad the killers name was known, he should be known for his evil deed and treated accordingly.

  34. I saw this video when posted last week. So glad to see Turkish folk responding for a change. Poor little kittie. This is a crush video…. stupid evil thing to do.
Good pictures. Did they get the evil humans ? Poor cat did nothing. Only was a cute cat What was he doing causing the hate in these evil ones.

  35. Ufuk Gunaydin is a monster! He deserves to be jailed! I would hurt him if I saw him!

  36. nils nilsson says:

hm…I still can’t watch the viedo…this might be a (weird) kind of self-defense-mechanism, not ignorance. too often I ask myself what mankind is evolving to…
on the other hand I see the pics of the demonstration and get a feel for the effort of Let’s Adopt (and other organizations) which light a glimpse of hope…
    Keep Hope Alive.

  37. Aslı Taşkınsoy says:

I shared that terrible event last week on my wall. What can i say? I’m so sad & sick about these murders. What we have to do is; we must punish him just like the way he did to that angel cat. I hope he will die with a great pain by an acccident or smt like that so that we can c his body pieces every where on the ground. AMİN !!!

  38. Can`t tell my anger about this video…it physically hurts me! Did they leave the poor dog to this guy??!!!!!

  39. I’m living in Turkey for 5 years now and I have to say that slowly slowly things are changing regarding animals. Ofcourse there is still a lot of pestering and abusing of animals around but it is getting better. Still a lot to do to make Turkey a good place for animals to live in but these kind of demonstrations and small changes i notice in people regarding animals are giving me hope.

  40. Beverley Hill says:

I am so heartened by this at last some change as the old saying goes Rome was not built in a day but its a start well done to everyone in Turkey for standing up for your animals the world is with you on this ,I hope and pray that more and more people will now start to adopt and foster more of the animals and cruelty will be a thing of the past but I realize this will all take time , you are the best well done , the world is grateful to you all

  41. Mercedes Corraliza says:

United we can make a difference. I hope that Morocco would have simiar laws.as Turkey.I have seen animal abuse in Morocco and sometime I feel so fustrated cause I wish I could do more to help the life of these animals.Ghandi was very right!!

  42. I’d be glad to find this guy in my road doing such a shameful act. I’d take out his head by punching and kicking it!!

  43. Sickening what that ugly pervert did to the poor little cat, and disgusting that, for all the laws that are in place in Turkey, his “punishment” was so trivial – but heartening to see that people have not passively accepted and ignored it.

That is an inspiring demonstration of public opinion, and I HOPE that the useless and ineffectual mayors take some notice!

I hope you’re right, Victor – I would love to see that revolting cretin get what he deserves!

  44. I tried my best to avoid that video. I knew I would cry… today I watched it -and I cried. Those people, that person is not a human…
…if he is then I am not.We are not… we are the people that do not enjoy hurting other living beings just for the sake of it, or even worse for the joy. I am ashamed of coming from the same country as him…
…but on the other hand I am proud of those people who walked the streets of Istanbul the other day. I hope they hear (y)our voice.
I just wish they had punished him more severely. Wish they had taken his dog from him. that living Satan doesnt deserve to have a dog/another living being in his possession. I wish they had kept him in a cell -even if it was for a short time. One day.. I hope lowlives like him will get what they deserve.

  45. Its a long way – and we are not even near by any aim…

But it gives hope to see – there are all over people who stands up not only for their own but for the right of the voiceless – oppressed …

    Thanks for – my respect.

  46. Marianna Doğu says:

I agree that punishment was inadequate. What about the rest of them on video? they were part of this murder. they are the same pieces of shit as him. poor cat((((

  47. Sandra Middleton says:

That is just horrible. A poor defencless lttle animal killed for nothing. It is so wonderful to see all those people demonstating! I hope that the man who did this is hunted down and his life made a misery.

  48. michela messineo says:

    TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!
IF I WERE PRESENT I WOULD REACT VERY VERY BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!
EVEN IF THEY WERE 4 “MEN” and I’M a WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!

Saying that that “MAN” behaved like an “ANIMAL” is:
MAKING A BIG OFFENSE TO ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Senay Altmann says:

…an adaquate punishment doesn´t exist for someone like him…
i hope you are right dear Viktor!

  50. LISA WIATER says:

thank you for your reply, viktor… i don’t like how happy i am to know ufuk gunaydin’s miserable existence is ruined-but i am, beyond words… the other boys on this video shoud be punished as severely, especially the one who assisted with getting yamuk out of his little box… i am not naive, as i live in the chicago area…i know of the countless atrocities committed toward animals here & all over. i usually will not watch these type of videos & told myself not to watch it… but i did…. i then had nightmares all night long, pictured that poor innocent cat’s blood running down the sidewalk, each time i closed my eyes… i am saddened & sickened to my very core……

thank you for all the difficult work you do for animals, viktor… may you & your family be blessed always….

  51. Thank you for posting this. I’ve been working on this since it was posted last week. What about this aholes friends though? They obviously were not trying to stop him and even helped him to kill that poor innocent baby. They are all murders. That fine is a joke…this idiot should be in jail for life. I would think being in jail for life would be worse. I find it hard to believe every last one of his friends have turned againist him considering four of them were there helping him to kill Yamuk. Every last one of them should be punished.

I understand that videos like this are VERY hard to watch and make some people physically ill. It’s the same for me, but watching it also tends to light that fire within us stronger and having those images in your head tend push a person harder. I felt ill after both times I saw it and I had to really push myself to watch it either time let alone all the way through. Yamuk and all our babies are worth it though. No good comes from turning a blind eye. For me if I didn’t watch it I would have a much harder time explaining to someone else or answering questions about it. It’s always easier to explain details or answering questions about the topic at hand when you have lived/viewed it first hand.

Viktor what can be done from the other side of the globe? Of course we have PETA and ASPCA over here, but they are both not what they make them selves out tobe 100%. Coming together on a global scale I would think would do more good. Also what about starting a FB or something else dedicated to Yamuk and other cruelty cases that would keep videos (such as this one), photos, etc. Photos of the criminals would be great too and might deter others from doing things of this nature.

  52. Arzu Adakan says:

Viktor, thank you for the info on how this guy’s life is turning into hell, which he deserves so much.
I’m crying looking at the pictures from the protest. Happy to see so many soul sisters and brothers. There is hope for Turkey after all.

  53. I did not believe what I was seeing. Sheer unadulterated evil!! I hope someday these pieces of garbage meet a similar fate.
This little kittie’s death is heartbreaking. I wish I could break their hearts!!

  54. The fine given to this heartless fucking shit… is DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH!! He should have been give time in jail!!! Then he should have been asked to help out in an animal shelter. He obviously wanted his dog to attack the cat,j but even his dog is more humane than him!! I am struggling to type through all my tears. This was so wrong!! I want to see a video of him asking for forgiveness, i want to see that he is truly sorry and I hope his friends realise what a person he really is

  55. I could not bear to watch the video in its entirely, only a few seconds. The actions of that monster are unfathomable to say the least. That poor innocent little cat was hoping to maybe get a morsel of food or some comfort from those men but instead he suffered a horrific and cruel death. I sit here and wonder why he chose that cat to torture and kill and then goes on his way with his dog. Is his dog in any danger or does he just have a hatred for cats? Did he have a bad day and choose to take it out on the next stray animal he saw? Does he have no feelings, no compassion for any living creatures? Why? Why? Why?

  58. How do we know for sure that these things have happened to him? I want it to be true but I question it. If all that happened, leagally, is that he was fined then why would the scholl expell him? Why would his friends disown him when they were there helping him do it? How can we have proof that KARMA has handed down universal justice?

  59. This happens all over the world. It is a sad indictment on humanity. Well done to the people of Turkey for having such progressive laws on the treatment of animals.

  60. Ceren Ozdilek says:

I cannot find enough words to express my rage against these disgusting murderers!! On the other hand, I am relieved to see that these men are exposed and hopefully cannot walk on the streets anymore. My heart is with all the protesting people that stand up for the animal rights!!

  61. Nur Aykurt says:

I GOT THE BEST NEWS EVER. CAT KILLER IS BADLY BEATEN BY A GROUP AND CANT GO OUT OF HIS DAMN HOUSE. NOT ENOUGH, BUT MADE ME V HAPPY.

  62. If I had seen him doing that I would of kicked his f**king head in, cruel shit, theres just no need for it, I see crap like this all the time in my job, and I tell you god help me if I saw animal cruelty in action and not just the aftermath I wouldnt be able to stop myself. This man is going to go on to have children one day (god help them), I hope that he gets a long horrible illness and suffers really bad !!!

  63. ayşen ertür says:

the so-called progressive law for animal protection still is not enough. the idea that one can get away with a fine after such a horrendous crime can not be accepted. we have to do more, to make sure that turkey understands this is a murder and has to be punished as such: with a prison sentence! until that happens, the “no-kill” idea in this country is a sad joke!

  64. I absolutely cannot believe that someone could do something like this. Its a good thing that my friends and I were not walking down the street to witness these fuckn excuses for human beings committing this act. The authorities would never have found the bodies.

? So in Turkey they can legally expel a student for a crime like this? That’s good.
? When you say the army wants him now…does that mean by law he has to go to the army since he’s no longer a student? By law? If so, ha-ha-ha!!
? It’s pretty certain that they’ll get the best of him in the barracks?
? Did he get beat up? (Oh, I hope so and if so, how bad a beatin’ did he receive? Another person made a comment in this thread (which I can’t find now) that said he got beat up by a group and couldn’t even come outside.

??? Can you keep us posted on more ‘unfortunate’ consequences that happen to this perp???

In memory of Yamuk, I’d love nothing more to hear of future news about this perp. Yamuk didn’t die in vain. His death has showed many how animal cruelty can ruin a human’s life, albeit not by death (yet) as Yamuk’s was.

I think with the animal abuse punishments being so lenient by the police, that for someone to have their life now messed up is pretty good punishment. Better than the fines and short jail time that one normally gets in the U.S. I’d like to see this consequence happen to some here in the U.S.

ulgen guleri said his name was ‘Isik’ meaning ‘light.’

  67. Shaqreena says:

Omg i am surprised there are even people like that he should be punish for his cruelness and all his friend should be fine along with it I hope this guy gets worse punishment .R.I.P the poor pitiful cat

  68. This sub-human piece of shit should be deprived of oxygen immediately by whatever means necessary – DIE YOU C*NT!!!! Has anybody got this b*stard’s phone number?

  69. I think people like this guy are never really punished for the deed itself, but for being stupid enough to get caught. People, and authorities generally, will say – “well, if you do it do it away from cameras or witnesses, and it will be o.k. It is only a bloody cat (or dog, etc.) anyway – so who cares ..” At least that is my impression of how cases like this are handled. What is going to stop him or any other like him doing what they want to do in some corner, or at home, away from witnesses ? Nothing. They just have to dump the body in the bin or a local river or whatever, and be done with it. I’ve seen pics once (gratefully not the video – I COULD not) of a cat having been lured with food into the flat of a Chinese student by him. He placed the (still happily beaming) cat in the tub with the food, and made a foto. What came next defies description. He cut the animal apart bit by bit (feet, tail, nose, ears, etc.) and filmed it all and put it LIVE on the internet. He was apparently urged on in this live forum by spectators and proceeded to finally strangling the cat. I’ve never seen the like. He was found out and charged – but he got away free, with all but a reprimand. Of course he received many hate mails, phone calls and what not. But will that deter him fron doing it again, unwatched ? I doubt it. And I know many more cases like that. Having said that: if it ever happened in front of me – then God may have pity on the guy, I will not. I’ve seen it too often, helplessly watching one atrocity after the other. I know that should I confront one such one day it will all come to the surface with a vengeance. Many of you doubtless feel likewise. And our anger is justified – more than justified. However, it takes more than just laws to counter this development of almost unhindered animal cruelty. It needs us all to be ever watchful, and ACT when necessary – not stand by crying. I won’t.

  70. Such a horrible creature should not be allowed to walk among the masses. Even his dog showed no interest in harming the cat….and this useless piece of trash kicks and stops this innocent little kitty. I cried when I watched it, but I watched it twice because ignorance of the fact that horrible people exist doesn’t mean they are not there. That video is proof that evil, heartless people exist. I hope his life is ruined, and his girlfriend left, and friends are gone….he’s a sociopath. As for his friends their mob mentality in partaking in this disgusting act should be questioned by the authorities as well. Until legislators make animal cruelty a more serious offence…with more than some piddly fine to pay egomaniacs with no empathy like this guy will continue to treat animals as expendable……. sweet innocent little cat didn’t stand a chance with garbage like this roaming the streets.

  71. I’m not going to watch this time, I believe it (seen a few and I don’t want to bring up the airing numbers for crush videos and likes) and am glad you all sound so united against this thrash that is ruining societies around the world.

  72. oh viktor how horrible. W-T-F! is wrong with people? Here people have been super gluing cats to roads and NAILING them to telephone poles! I’m fighting with my neighbor who has threatened to poison my 50+rescue cats And no one will donate even one damn bag of food and I’m down to half a bag which will be gone tomorrow and I have no money. I spent the last week building a winter shelter under my porch and I come back to see your FB message about this murder. I JUST CAN’T TAKE IT! WHY do so many not care?

I couldn’t believe what I saw. It is so hard to comprehend. Poor kitten! I hope, the monster will rot on earth and in hell.

Viktor, well done for all your work in Turkey and for sparkling this storm of anger. I would love to see the same happening in Bulgaria. These countries are hell holes for the animals and need serious shake up.

    Julia D.Stewart

  75. hakanpiguet says:

    my friends
be sure this bastard will be punished by my self!

  76. Sally Jay says:

I cann’t watch the footage it would stay with me. I am so sad for that poor innocent kitten if that man can do that to a kitten imagine what he is capable of. How can he have the heart to hurt such a sweet innocent kitten is just beyond me, this person is a cruel, cold hearted killer and needs to be put away in jail for a long time before he commits again. What is $450 NOTHING when a life has been taken away. I say this guy and all involved who did not stop it are criminals and need to be punished severely.

  77. Carol Halbert says:

I have a very good cat fwiend, Ernie Cat, who is interested in reading more about Yamuk… not seeing the video, but any info you guys may have on the cat before it was murdere by that horrible man. I told Ernie I would ask for him, just in case you had more info on Yamuk. Could someone please advise me of a link or how Ernie Cat could view more info on the Yamuk kitteh??? I would appreciate it very much and Ernie Cat would, too!!! Thank all of you for all the wonderful work you guys do and for the many lives you save!!!! xoxo <3

  78. I couldnt watch this video. I have become so overwelmed with the cruelty to animals lately I have nightmares. I was looking because somone said there was a petition link. I wish these cruel bastards would die an agonizing cruel death. Don’t the people who give such small punishments for animal torture realize that animals are just a start? Eventually these sickos will try it on a human being?

  79. Reza from Iran says:

I am very impressed by the number of Turkish people attending the protest against animal cruelty… it is about time we come to realize, mistreating animals is a sign of barbaric and deeply uncivilized society!! It’s time to realize, animals have the right to occupy this earth too and it is not ours only!!!

Hopefully people of other similar countries will learn to stand up too…

  80. I feel very sick now, and so sorry for the cat, but am glad to see the response to this of the Turkish people. I only saw mention of one of the group being fined – what happened to the rest? I can’t imagine what would make anyone stamp on a cat’s head, but I don’t think that asking for such people to ‘rot in hell’ is particularly helpful, no matter how vile their behaviour. Prison sentences, community service and re-education have got to be involved, I think. Especially as it’s very common for people who abuse animals to abuse human beings too.

  81. Dora Ponce Crossposter says:

Anything new about this guy such as getting harrassed or beat up or anything happening to him?

  82. I am so happy to see how your country is united.United States is by no means together in any issues,it’s totally impossible to get any one to stick their necks out the extra mile in defending these poor helpless animals, humans choose to stick their heads up butt and hide rather than to think saving an animals life. The USA government has 99.9% of peoples minds pretty much under control, most people think they are nasty and smelly as well as useless animals, little did they know that just maybe mirror image, might be in order.I would like to congradulate those all in which has partaken in the march for saving & rescuing animals. It takes a bigger person to march forward and carry out regulations to save any ones life rather than to run and hide from reality.God bless each & every one of you.xxooxxoo

  83. I cannot watch this video, but i have read all the comments, i am horrified, everyday there is a story of cruelty to these wonderful animals.
    Viktor,
Thank you and the group for the wonderful work you are doing, and for highlighting the problems to the Turkish general public.
    Lets hope change is coming.
    xx Tina

  84. I watched the video, now I dont think I can sleep tonight…..
I really hope these guys get punished, and I am so sorry for the cat. He must have been terrified and so scare, when they forced him out of his box and brutally killed him Rest in peace, little one.
And please, I hope these guys get caught and punished!!!

  85. georgia kotidis says:

This video broke my heart i was crying watching it. at first i thought he was going to make the dog attack the cat . I read some of the earlier posts and it said the murderers are being singled out and civilians are taking matters into their own hands . I agree with that 200% .. he only got a fine? unacceptable no. my heart goes out to that poor sweet cat . he did nothing wrong . Why Why are people so . cruel. words fail me now . my heart is saddened by all this . now the voiceless have a voice and its all o f us <3 . thanks Viktor for taking action .. 86. Alyssa Mullan says:

This makes me physically ill, I’m so angry and sad that I can’t speak..i have no words…my heart aches for these animals and ALL animals that have to endure such cruelty. I will fight for animals till the day I day..they deserve so much better.

  87. awww Yamuk…i’m so very sorry for what was done 2 u. u were just a wee kitty trying 2 survive….i will never forget u, precious wee boy. now u’re in a better place….run free <3. i pray u'r murderer is severely punished…………
    dru

  88. Always fight for what’s right, it is our civil duty and respect for ourselves. This is a great thing for Turkey to do for the animals. It’s a BLESSINGS… Finally coming to pass, Bless them ALL…that stand for right and justice…

  89. Lorna Davidson says:

Having just watched this i can hardly see what keys i’m pressing as i’m crying so much! What makes these people do such awful things to poor defenceless animals i will never know. If you don’t like them, pass by and leave them alone. This is mindless, senseless violence that has no place in society today. Its time the law was harder on people who carry out such horrific crimes 🙁

  90. I can’t stop crying. I’m just so sick that this psychopath did this to this poor and defenseless animal. All I can do is cry. I’m elated that he is one of the most hated men in Turkey and in this world. However, it won’t bring back this little cat. He’s with God now and he’ll never have to be hurt again. For that psychopath…burn in Hell you frickin evil piece of scum.

  91. I hope this piece of shit dies painfully of cancer or better still, contracts full blown HIV coz it’d be a better death than what I could come up with given 10 minutes alone with this loser. He’d better hope he never sets foot in any Western country. Future serial killer in the making, neuter it now before it gets a chance to multiply.

  92. I didn’t want to watch it but I forced myself to watch it — the kitty had to go through it, so I owed him that much. Like somebody else said, even this idiot’s dog wasn’t interested in hurting the cat.

    My God, people are assholes.

  93. it’s encouraging that so many people turned out for this demonstration – let’s hope next sunday it will be even better !

  94. I watched the video with admiration for those who decided they had to make a stand against animal abuse & be heard. I wish the Greeks would wake up from their stupor and follow suit!! As a country that has been in the EU since 1981 and prospered enormously as a result, not only due to the EU subsidies (BILLIONS of euros – sadly a lot of money ended up in corrupted pockets, hence the current crisis), but from tourism as well…. but have atrocities committed against animals been stopped? Of course not!!! Even when the perpetrators are identified, they usually get away without being punished….. they literally get away with murder!! Ah, enough…. could ramble on for hours….. We do as much as we can to help as many animals as possible, but there’s a limit to how much we can do from the UK. Sure, there are some good people in Greece who are involved in endless ‘hands-on’ rescue work and we support their efforts, but ultimately it’s the Greeks themselves who have to influence changes within the country…… easier said than done, I know…..

  95. Biggest pussy 2date ive seen, The guy fell while kicking the cat? Pathetic fucking low life loser…. Really hobe some turkish people teach him a lession

  96. Fucking peices of shit those guys are!!! Even the dog they were trying to sick on the cat didnt wanna do anything and dogs usually HATE cats. I couldnt help laughing at one part tho…when the guy kicked at the cat and ended up falling on his ass! I Was like “GOOD!! I wish you would of broken your tailbone for that!” Sick fucks.

  97. Charlotte says:

Dear Yamuk, I am so heartbroken. I can’t stop crying. Why? Why? If only I was there to help you! I love you sweet Yamuk and I believe that God will avenge your blood!! You’re an angel now my darling!!

As for you, Ufuk Gunayain and your cronies, YOUR violence to an innocent and beautiful creature will come down on YOUR own HEADS!! YOU the condemned ones will NOT live out half your days and the Lord my God will REPAY you cursed ones for your SIN and DESTROY all of you for your wickedness!! Amen!!

  98. Thank you, Ufuk, for bringing the LOLs!

  99. Can Büyüksönmez says:

Annesini bulup bu Ufuk kardeşin bir güzel ilgilenmek lazım, AYNI MUAMELEYİ ANNESİNE YAPMAK LAZIM yada bebek iken niye bu oç a yapılmamış, bunu öğrenmek lazım. annesi fahise.
