Today I am bringing you one of those stories that will make you cringe with disgust.
An animal welfare organization, HAYKOD, endorsing illegal experiments on shelter dogs…
What else can I say… its totally and absolutely disgusting… and that’s Haykod and Gamze Erkok for you.

A great scandal of experimenting on stray animals took place in Ankara.
Please keep these in mind as you are reading this post:
Only about one in a thousand of the experiments come on the scene… And that is only by chance… These people made these experiments in such an insoluble way and cold blood. Try to imagine what they are capable of doing behind closed doors…
We must react to this bloody and painful game played on innocent animals which is a crime against humanity beyond question. Otherwise, if we remain silent although we know what is going on, we will be a part of this torture on innocent animals.
This disgrace cannot be accepted on any account. I call for every right minded person who has common sense to protest against these brutal and inhuman experiments.
The Head of the Veterinarians Chamber of Ankara Ümit Duman declared that they had all the support of all the associations in Ankara and they would continue their practices (in other words “experiments”). He also added that their next practice (experiment) would be in Gölbaşı Shelter.
In short:
Unless we stop these people, this torture and the experimenting will continue.
The procedures tried to be described as easy and routine exercises such as taking a blood sample are actually “endoscopy” and “biopsy” which are very painful practices that are used as last resorts. These practices are absolutely not for treatment.
The experiment these people are trying to twist is this:
A pipe is inserted into the subject’s mouth (the dogs at the shelter) and it is pushed down till it reaches the animal’s stomach. Then, with the tool that goes through the pipe, a part of flesh is torn from the dog’s body. During all this time, the animal is ALIVE and AWAKE.
The bitter part of this is that there is no medical purpose of these inhumane tortures. It is only performed for the training of the students studying to become vets. This situation is unacceptable.
Apart from all this, in the practices of certificate programs, there is the exercise of “removing the foreign object”. What are chances of finding an animal that is suffering from a strange, foreign object stung in its body on the very exact day of the program which is set weeks before? So does this mean that they sting objects into the bodies of the animals at the shelters? I leave the matter to your judgment…
Most importantly, these experiments are against the law.
1. There can be no experimenting in the shelters for no reason. No animal can be used for experiments. This is clearly stated in the law 5199.
2. For each and every experiment that the veterinarians are willing perform, there must be the approval of “Ethic Council”. For the experiment mentioned above, there is no approval from a council.
The people and the institutions stated below took active part in this disgraceful scandal:
– The Veterinarians Chamber of Ankara
– Çankaya Municipality
– Veterinarian Tamer Dodurka
– Veterinarian Alparslan İnan
– Veterinarian İlknur Sadıç
The associations below also share the crime by remaining silent and forgetting their main duties and reasons of establishment which is the protection of animal rights. Instead they abide by some protocol of which purpose is not clear.
– HAYKOD (Ankara Animal Protection Ass)
– Meliha Yılmaz Foundation
– DOĞÇEV
– Çayyolu Protection of Natural Life Ass.
This experiment above is set up according to a calendar by The Veterinarians Chamber of Ankara. It is a planned experiment, not a coincidence.

The experiments are made with the approval of Veterinarian Alparslan İnan -who is the veterinarian in charge of Mühye Shelter in the area of Çankaya Municipality- and İlknur Sadıç and also under their control. (About 3-4 years ago, the same Çankaya Municipality made its name again with an experimenting scandal. With the consents and signatures of İlknur Sadıç and the manager of the shelter, 15 stray dogs [8+7] were given “HOMED” to experimenters without the approval of the Ethic Council.)
The experiment is performed by Tamer Dodurka to the students as a lecture.
The participants had to pay 400 TL. How was this money shared? For example, did the cooperative associations and/or the shelters get a share? How much was given to Tamer Dodurka for this performance? We could not get any answers to any of these questions until now.
I hope that the associations related to animal welfare in Ankara immediately leave that protocol due to this experiment and file a criminal complaint against the people and institutions involved. If not, they will also be parts of this brutal crime against humanity.
I want to highlight that I will follow up this issue till the end.
Kind regards,
Ahmet Yıldız
I know that in North America this happens too. That is why we worry so much when an animal is in the so-called “shelters”. That is why we don’t want people to let their animals run free, because people called ‘bunchers’ pick them up and sell them for experiments.
You are probably better at researching on the net than I am. I seem to remember reading about some vetrinary schools in the US using ‘dummies’, or manaquin animals made from synthetics to train vets. If we could find this info. it would put the lie to them saying they have to do it to train vets.
I am terribly upset by this useless waste of life and useless suffering. Humans are letting the animals down big time!
gasping for air, looking at the picture, women???
Today was our Foreign Minister (Westerwelle) during a visit in Turkey (Ankara), which he may well say if this is public!
Belongs also to the reforms under the target of the Turkey should accede to the EU to be able to ?
Yes I know it does happen alot in the US. At many universities. One locally has been getting cats from a shelter for YEARS, and as been on PETA’s target list for years to STOP… after much media, and people contacting them, they finally stopped. They were using one cat for every 5 students, and all week long it forced tubes down their throats, no sedatives, etc, and after the week when it mangled and almost dead they ‘disposed’ of it. HORRIBLE. FINALLY THEY STOPPED. Do they have a foreign PETA organization over there? I know there are mannequinnes and other alternatives being used now. There needs to be a HUGE public outcry into SHAMING them, and if I can be of any help please let me know. Is there some place we need to write?
Turkey listening;
We will not visit your beautiful country on our holidays etc when you do this to shelter dogs, we understand it is about money .. it is discusting .. you must show us moral you must change NOW and tell us about it ! We dont accept this,
Anna Owner of companys in Sweden loving your country but will stay away !!!
Thanks Anna.. keep the pressure up!
You are acting in good will Victor yet the individual called Ahmet Yilmaz might be deliberately feeding you with wrong information. Maybe he has a personal dispute with some individuals and is blackmouthing them. Please read on :
I was very surprised to read about this upsetting news and checked it from Turkish news and also from the relevant organisations’ web sites. Having read Tamer Dodurka’s books on dog psychology and well-behavior I could not imagine him hurting dogs. Anyway, the link in the upper article is not valid yet I found just the opposite news, a government decree dated 06/07/2006 prohibiting experiments on stray animals.
Here’s a Hacettepe University veterinary faculty ethical department’s link to the government decree in Turkish :
