Dear Friends,
Hera and animals like Hera are the reason why Let’s Adopt! Has the toughest adoption policies in Turkey.
Hera was rescued by one of our members and put on a pension. After a few days she contacted us to tell us that she had found a family for the dog. We asked if they complied with our two main conditions:
– family MUST currently have a dog
– dog will live inside the house, NOT in the garden.
The family did not comply with either of our conditions, they did not have a dog AND they were planning to keep the dog in a dog home at the garden.
I adviced her to cancel the adoption. She decided otherwise and gave the dog to them.
Barely a week later the dog was returned. Reasons? The neigbor didn’t like dogs and threatened to kill the puppy.
Hera is a beautiful, sweet little angel and there are many monsters out there. Why would someone adopt an animal to keep him out in the garden exposed to all those risks is totally incomprehensible to me.
We are not here to give away dogs to people who simply, want to give a dog a test-ride, or to those who want a living piece of furniture for their garden.. We are here to find perfect families for our animals.
All our animals sleep at homes, sit in sofas and eat Raw Meaty Bones.
Nothing else will do. Let’s Adopt won’t ever compromise on this issue. If you don’t comply with our conditions you simply won’t get one of our animals.
Adopt Hera… She is a beautiful dog who wants to be part of a family. She is house-trained, sociable, neutered and is time for her to join her forever home. And notice I say HOME… She certainly does not want to live outside freezing in winter or burning of heat in summer.

Why indeed Viktor. Animals are not cars to be test-driven, they are a committment for life – whatever the circumstances. Sadly, so many people see them as disposable.
I’m not sure that the problem is to let the dog in the garden or not. I think it is “which way” you leave him/her in this garden. If the poor dog spends his time alone in a garden (or elsewhere but still alone), without any interaction with other animals and/or humans, it seems obvious that can’t make him happy. As for me, before meeting my husband, I also used to let my dogs and cats on the sofa and to follow me everywhere or almost everywhere. Unfortunatly, my husband does not share the same ideas about pet education, and even if he would never ask me to completely leave them in the garden, he prefers them to spend most of their time outside. I’m against this but some dogs may be too !!! I mean some dogs may not want to stay inside the house either! This is the case of one of my dogs for example. And even in winter, I sometime must force him to sleep into his bedroom (by dogs have a whole floor for them, with 2 rooms and a bathroom). He simply does not want to stay inside ! I have to find time to join him in the garden, and not the contrary 😉 My other dog, is more cocooning addict, So, as for me, there can’t be any fixed rule in this matter. The most important I guess, is to not to forget a dog in his garden, as it is unfortunatly often the case.
hera, as beautiful as the goddess she was named for
She is beautiful! I’ll never understand why someone would want a dog to make it live outside. My dog is my constant companion!! If I sleep in a nice warm bed, she sleeps in a nice warm bed!!
Dogs should not spend their entire existence in anyone’s garden. I have eight (yes you read that correctly I said 8) all of them share my home with me. Not one of my dogs is ever tied up outside. If they go outside in my garden they do so to run and play, I am always there with them to supervise. When I come inside so do they. If anyone truly wants to settle this issue, ask yourself one simple question. Would you like to spend the rest of your life outside exposed to the elements tied to the end of a rope? I think not.
My hubby has changed a lot since he has been with me. Being from a rancher’s family, their dogs were always outside in Colorado. Since we have been together….dogs that we have had sleep, eat, and drink indoors. Our Annie lost her companion dog from old age 2009. In 2005 we moved from CO to CA to help my Mother.
She had a dog yard built that is attached to the house and put in a doggie door. She thought that our dogs were going to stay out in the dog yard, or come and go as they pleased…BUT, my cat Ink knows how to use a dog door, so we don’t use it.
Anyway, Annie, Ink and Moxie reside in our very large den, because Mom doesn’t want Annie in the rest of the house. Someday that will change. For now, it is what it is.
Because Annie is a high energy dog, my husband walks her all over these hills on a leash, hour or more aday depending on where they walk that day.
Annie is allowed to run this 3 acres with supervision.
I hope that Hera finds her forever home, she is gorgeous!
If someone wants to have a best friend they don’t lock him outside by himself, no contact, no love!!! if you truly love animals, they automatically become a member of your family!!! if you don’t want the responsibility of caring for their needs don’t get one!!!! they are just like children, depend on us for everything, food, water, shelter. they need guidance just like children!!! animals can change somebody’s whole life with all the love they have to give, someone to play with, someone to cuddle with, laugh with!!!! If you are not interested in giving your new family member all this and more, you don’t want a dog!!!!! but if you have your best friend by your side always you will find that part of your soul and you will be complete!!!!
