Traditional awareness campaigns are clearly failing in their mission.
Pet shops and Puppy Mills have become a multimillion dollar buy celebrex online, industry, animal lovers as sole patrons.
Pet owners breed their own animals to satisfy a misguided sense of “love” and “family”.

I totally agree. In my opinion, there is no clearer way to “cut the bullshit” than to adopt a Vegan world view.
As a Vegan, you recognize and acknowledge that no animal should be exploited (used). And that includes “companion” animals. By adopting those homeless “refugees” we brought into existence through no fault of their own, we provide them the care they so desperately need and show them the respect they so desperately deserve.
Of course, going Vegan is also better for your health (animal foods cause physical harm); it’s better for the environment (animal agriculture is an ecological disaster); and, most importantly, it’s the morally right thing to do.
I totally agree as well. It always makes me angry as well when people say “oh, we just wanted our little one to have at least one litter”–WHY???? It’s all about $$$$ What a bunch of crap. They don’t want to experience any type of “miracle of birth”, they want to make money off their poor animal, and make their pet a breeding machine. I also hate when people say, “oh, but I went to a reputable breeder”–what is that all about? That makes me so angry, when shelter animals die!!
Enough vegan that has nothing to do with puppy mills. And quite frankly on the few occasions I can afford it a steak is a nice change
Jeffrey, I agree with you and I just try to live by example and answer questions if people ask. I also gently try to get the info out that you touched upon. It took me a long time to get to where I am, but I’m thankful I got there, and I have never looked back. 🙂
I try to buy organic as much as I can, and here’s an example of something yummy I had today:
2 slices whole grain sourdough/wheat bread
1 tbs per slice of veganaise
mediterranean humus slathered on both slices
3-4 tofurkey slices
1 leaf swiss chard (so beautiful!)
2 tomatoe slices

I only adopt unwanted animals. I have mostly street animals who are now pampered pets. My dog who passed away last year was a woops dog. Momma got spayed after that accident. Why breed when there are millions of animals available for adoption? There should be no breeding allowed until every animal born has a home.
i think that the comment on the ad should have been “Don’t Be Stupid – Let’s Adopt USA’.
i doubt most people other than those of us who read Let’s Adopt would understand the meaning. OR…. perhaps “Be Stupid – Buy, Don’t Adopt”
i can’t believe people would spend hundreds of dollars on a pedigree breed, when there are specific breed that can rescued, or heinz 57’s, as i have grown up with. usually, they want a dog of a specific breed because of a previous dog who died. but you can never replace that dog, & the personality of the new one could never be compared.
