The development of a good network of foster homes is crucial to the good functioning of a rescue network. Without it there is a severe limitation to how many lives can be saved.

Much to my surprise, until Let’s Adopt! introduced the concept of foster homes and created its own network Turkish society was not aware of the importance of this function. We have always seen fostering at a low cost way to save lives, improving public relations, extending the reach of an organization, rehabilitating sick and injured animals, or animals with behaviour problems, in short, saving lives.

Every shelter organization should make a BIG effort in developing its own network of foster homes as it allows the organization to take care of animals who cannot survive on a shelter environment, sick or injured animals, or dogs needed human contact and socialization.

Foster homes provide a great setting that keep animals healthy and happy whilst a final home is found.

We need our members to write to us and offer their help by becoming part of our foster home network. We currently have four small dogs that desperately need to be put in foster homes. Please open your home to one of our rescues by becoming a foster home.

  1. I wold love to foster, but can't. I am trying to take care of some animal overpopulation problmes here where I live. I understand your frustration as so many people hid from problems. I will pray that lots of foster homes appear for you.

OMG If I was living there I could simply not resist these 2…both of them!!!!. We have so many foster carers here in the UK , including me, and they do such a brilliant job in teaching dogs how to behave in a home environment and become well adjusted animals before moving on to their final forever homes. Fostering is also so rewarding.
I do hope you get lots of response to these 2 Viktor, they are both simply adorable. Good luck little ones xx

  4. I sadly have to say that we can’t not right now. We’re not allowed to have any animals (it was a tiny miracle that we convinced them to let our thai dog live here) But as soon as we have our own house, we would love to help!

  5. I live in the UK so may not be much use but am always here! I foster for urgent, especially PTS dogs. I have dogs of my own but they are very good with our foster babies. We are here if we can help.x

Es wäre schön , wenn jedes Tier ein liebevolles Zuhause bei netten Tierfreunden finden würde !

  7. Hi Viktor. I’m slowly getting back to my normal routine again. The breakup was hard but it also means a new start for me (I spent over 3 years of my life with that person). I’m also getting back on the blog again, I’m currently writing an article.

I’m more than willing to take one of your small dogs in foster care. Or a large one, it doesn’t matter. Recently, I started mountain hiking again and I would love a canine companion to take with me on my outdoor adventures! I’m sure he/she would love it!

    Take care V,

    Cath

  8. I wouls love to be a fosterparent. But I dont suppose you nedd somebody from Denmark.

  9. Anne Jacoby says:

a small contibution for Genny, it is not showing up so I will resend in morning if it does not show up by then, so sorry I can’t give more. Anne

  10. Hi Victor, I would love to be a foster parent for one of the puppies but I am sorry to say that I cannot adopt another dog permanently as I have already 5. So with the condition that it will only be temporarily (which will be very difficult as I am sure I will fall in love) I am willing to do it. Also, my husband and I work full time, so my mother is at home trying to take care of our two kids and all the animals, therefore I would appreciate if I could foster a pet that does not have to be fed every hour or so, as I don’t want to put extra pressure on my mother. Looking forward to your reply back, all the best of luck.

  11. As usual Viktor I am overpopulated and in Canada but you know that if all else fails our home is always open and will be even more so after our move to the country is accomplished.

  16. I have been going through some health issues, but as soon as I am able. I have been thinking of being a foster, I’ve talked to family and friends in my goals. I have befriended a woman who needs people for fostering kittens and special needs. Years ago I have followed her instructions to care for and raise a 5 day old kitten, her name is Eve and is 5 years old now. I also looked after another cat who had diabetes, she lived for 17 years. I just lost her about 8 months ago. In the meantime I will post to find foster volunteers.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Thanks Teresa…

Pls take good care of yourself.. we need you healthy!

  17. DEBZ POWER says:

I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and I have 2 beagles that I rescued and 4 cats also rescued. I would be willing to help if you needed a foster home. Money is tight but I would do what I could. I don;’t know if you ever need a foster home in the US but I am here if needed.

  21. if you ever had a short term emergency need in the boston area i could help. i am not the best home for a dog because some times i work long hours. i have 10 rescued cats. i dog sit. i have a small mini pin here this weekend. when i am watching a dog i make arrangements to come home in between jobs when i can or i do it when i am not working so much. for the long term, i am often out working for long hours which is why i don’t have a dog of my own. i have my living room separated from the cats to accommodate dogs. i have the cats that are more accepting of dogs on the other part of the room. the cats can come past the screen if they want to investigate the dogs but can run back if they don’t want to stay there. the other cats that are afraid of dogs are in other parts of the house.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thanks Lynn… you are amazing.. Ill be in touch if we ever have an emergency, but to be honest it sounds like you are doing enough already.. I would hate to overburden you… 🙂
