Kanal T: When media crosses the line.

We, at Let’s Adopt, get to see and deal with some pretty bizarre behavior on a daily basis. What humans do to animals is beyond description, we all know it, some of us get to do something about, most people are mere passive spectators.

But sometimes, some people bring voyeurism to the extreme.

This is the case of the internet site, Havlatavla and their partners Kanal T.

Just when we thought we had seen it all in TV formats there comes Kanal T with the most ridiculous, bizarre, disgusting and perverted notion of entertainment this country has ever broadcasted…. and all of it under the hosting of an infamous and despised character, Panter Emel.

We all know there is a public for everything, a quick stroll through your the cable networks will take you to places you didn’t even know existed, you’ll get to come into contact with people who, to put it mildly, live in an alternative reality.

This seems to be the case of Kanal T Programming Director, Turgut Moralı. In other words, the Channel’s Boss.

At a time when Turkish society is beginning to deal with the issue of animal rights, at a time when the nation’s leading media are finally becoming aware of the social issues regarding animal welfare, when the most respected writers are treating the issues with a depth not found until now,  at a time of struggle and fight for the cause of animals there comes a TV Channel, broadcasting to the absolute lowest social strata, who, simply, will encourage and broadcast animals having sex.

We at Lets Adopt are all for freedom of expression, but a TV program that addresses to the masses encouraging them to watch, and enjoy, the pleasures of animal sex is where we draw the line. What Kanal T is about to do here is to cater to the lowest form of humanity, Kanal T will be encouraging Zoofilia.

And the prize? Whatever puppies are produced will be given away free to whomever want to catch them.

Lets Adopt hereby expresses its strongest condemnation for this program, but our disapproval will not just remain in words. We want our members, all of them to do something about this and exert their citizen’s rights to protest.

So we are going to do two things:

1. Call Turgut Moralı’s office on  0212 642 35 35  and simply, let them know that it is your wish for this program to be canceled. As simple as that.

2. Let’s Adopt will be contacting, one by one, the sponsors (provided that they have any) of this TV Channel. We will be expressing our strongest condemnation and will encourage them to withdraw their support to this ridiculous broadcasting enterprise.

The internet has completely changed the way society communicates and the way media companies engage with their audiences. Until not so long ago it was a bottom-down approach. Today it is us, the viewers who dictate what media broadcasts.

Kanal T is about to find out the power of Civil Social movement.
