BELLA
Dear friends, we apologize for misleading you.
We told you that Graya was our last case of the year. And the truth is, after starting Graya’s story last weekend (she is doing better by the way and we will soon share news), after assisting with a wild bird rescued on an oil tanker in open sea (more on that soon!) — this Saturday we admit to reaching for the Christmas tree lights and hoping to relax on the sofa with a good book.
Of course it never happened — because that’s when we saw Bella.
We didn’t just see Bella, we also found out that she spent the last 3 weeks waiting, and in pain. With a fractured pelvis and a torn abdominal wall, Bella was a stray rescued in a small provincial town where the tiny vet clinic fighting for her life could not deal with her injuries, nor did it have any boarding facilities. During those endless dark days a cat carrier was Bella’s entire world — and she slept, lived and went to the toilet in it.
20 days waiting for someone to take her case on, for someone to show mercy, for someone to help.
HELP
We will spare you the details, but in short our Christmas trees remained undecorated, however Bella — although far from safe — is now in our care and in our clinic. She was so critical upon admission that the night team had to perform an emergency blood transfusion or we would have lost her there and then.
Once Bella is stabilized we will immediately start investigating her multiple injuries; ultrasound, Xray (the image we have is 3 weeks old) and more examinations and tests are required before the surgeries she needs can be scheduled.
We are sorry to have mislead you, announcing Graya was our last case of the year..
It turned out we were not equipped with the strength required to look away when we saw Bella. We can only hope that her soulful eyes and touching story will move you too, and that you will make the time amidst the festive preparations to send some help for her.
