CUTIE, THE BEGINNING
Once upon a time there was a young stray cat, who had no home and lived on the street. Occasionally, kind people would feed him and this is how he survived, day after day, year after year.
Staying alive in the city, however, is hard for strays, and you’ve probably already guessed that this story is not a happy one. (Yet). Too often, our cities — designed to be comfortable for humans — are merciless and deadly for the animals we share them with, and they end up victims of countless intentional and accidental tragedies.
Cutie, unfortunately, had that exact fate.
On a rainy morning after a long and cold night, the human who most often fed Cutie on the street, found him wet and unable to move, dragging himself along the pavement, possibly hit by a car. The rescuer immediately rushed the boy to a vet clinic where multiple fractures of the pelvis and legs were discovered.
Luckily, the examination and tests also discovered that Cutie has avoided the worst that could happen when a cat is hit by a car — his spine is intact. According to the vet team, after a series of surgeries required to fix his fractured legs and pelvis, he can make a full recovery.
Right now, this sweet cat’s future depends on the success of two surgical procedures.
