This is what the neighbours told us…. It was late afternoon when a white van stopped by the side of the road rolled down the window and threw a beautiful orange cat on the highway…
The kitty landed on his feet and remained immobile, terrified of the passing traffic. He was obviously a house cat. Noone approached him to help. It was just a cat….
It was already evening when someone delivered to the police station a blue plastic bucket with a badly injured cat inside. He had only lasted a few hours on the streets before someone ran him over.
We were called and asked for assistance…
We have called him Pablo, and he is, by far, the softest, kindest cat we´ve ever rescued. At no point during the long and difficult battery of tests we´ve done on him he complained. Barely a “meow” to let us know he was hurting… Judging by the Xray of his luxated sacrum he must have be in a terrible pain but at no point he let us know. Pablo just laid there, allowing us to do whatever we needed to do to him.
Pablo´s eyes lit up when he saw the water. There is no knowing when was the last time he had any, and in that moment, judging by the way he drank and grabbed the bowl it must have seemed to him like the most precious thing on earth.
And then, in an unexpected gesture, he reached out to me, told me, with his hand and his eyes, not to let him go, to help him.
It was a magical moment of trust and of connection between two sentient beings. A moment I will never forget.
Pablo has a terrible Luxation in the sacrum bone as well as possible other internal injuries. His condition is operable and even if right now he is paralysed the surgery will make him walk again. Pablo is being stabilised right now, we are paying special attention to the condition of his kidneys.

UPDATE 13 November
Pablo remains in Intensive care. Over the last 5 hours his condition has taken a turn of the worst. His kidney was damaged with the impact and its just not working. We are trying absolutely everything but so far nothing has worked…
We are extremely concerned, as long as the kidney doesn´t work Pablo´s condition will remain critical…
We are devastated… He is an incredible cat, so kind, so soft, so wonderful…

PABLO HAS LEFT US…
We did an echo and its kidneys were completely de-structured. They were simply not working.
Potassium levels have been gradually up, fluids have led to subcutaneous enema and they had started to fill the lungs.
Pablo passed away this morning in my arms. His wonderful character shone through to the very end.
The world has lost a wonderful soul today…
But Pablo has left us but our work continues… Please, if you can, help us continue our work, help us save other cats donating in Pablo´s memory…

You are right, Pablo is a wonderful cat. I have never seen a cat act so calmly on a vet´s table.
I am very sorry for what happen to him. He didn´t know how to survive on the streets, he must have felt so scared and disoriented.

Pabblo is such a gentle cat, a gem! My Scotty was as well but has left us a few years ago to rainbow bridge. Pablo resembles Scotty very much. soft nature & coloring! Please make Pablo well again so he can love & live a long time! Donated!
I can only hope this cat gets better and the person or persons responsible for doing this get struck by a bus or a truck and wind up in a wheel chair for life. Donated!

Pablo is a tuff little guy, heartbreaking to know someone chuncked him out a window of a car onto the highway. I have seen people cry because of a paper cut and here is this kitty getting ran over and stayed calm, not fussing, just the his soft meow he has, and when Pablo reached out for your hand with is paw like he was saying thank you for helping me, and I have a Orange Tabby named Tiger and seeing Pablo like he is, it hit me pretty hard. The sad thing is right now I can’t donate anything to help, but in the near Future I will be donateing Monthly. You do wonderful things Viktor and please keep me posted on updates on Pablo.

I am not a cat person, but this story brought tears to my eyes. Why couldnt someone stop and help the cat as that scum bag in the white van was throwing him out the window. Someone HAD to see that. Why wouldnt they get a plate number?….This really pisses me off and upsets me at the same time. People need to start thinking faster and turn in these animal abusers. This has got to stop! Please donate and help this poor baby…..
He’s such a sweet, gentle kitty. I don’t understand how anyone could do something like that. Dumping a cat is inexcusable but dumping him by the highway is even worse, it’s like those pieces of garbage wanted him to get killed. I’m so glad that you have him now and that he’s getting help and will go to a family that loves him like he deserves to be loved.
Pablo looks so much like my Otis that went to the Bridge last year. In honor of my beautiful ginger boy, I donated to help this precious boy.

Four years ago, the love of my life BB passed away because a renal disease. BB was an red mackerel tabby, just like Pablo. I feel very sorry abou him because i have no doubt that Pablo is a great cat. I hope he can go ahead with this situation and be okey soon. You can do it Pablo! From Chile I’m praying for you, and i know my BB too from heaven.

A beautiful soul has left from the wounded body and from this dangerous earth.
He reminds me of my Leo, my catdog cat – well, he is a cat who acts a lot like a dog, who is up for adoption. Leo is a special cat with gut problems that are wonderfully controlled by eating Solid Gold Indigo Moon cat food, allergies that make him “cry” sometimes (his eyes water) and a skin allergy that needed a DepoMedrol shot in July and October. Hope we can limit those shots! It makes me appreciate Leo even more than I already do. I think he and Pablo are kindred spirits!
I’m heartbroken to hear that he didn’t make it but glad that he was shown love at the end. Bless you all for what you do. RIP sweet Pablo, run free and full of joy at the Rainbow Bridge.
