Morris the cat is known in his neighbourhood for his sweet and kind character, greeting everyone in that calm residential street, rubbing himself against everyone´s legs, asking for a head rub. Unfortunately, black cats have enemies, and those cowards struck last night.

Morris appeared this morning in front of one of the houses crawling on the floor, barely able to move, gasping for air. During the night someone  kicked him brutally on the stomach, breaking his diaphragm, that thin layer of tissue that separates the lung and heart from the rest of the organs, liver, kidneys, intestines… The kick was so brutal that it tore it and pushed the liver against the lungs and the heart.

Morris is on intensive care while we stabilise him and secure that he will be able to resist the anestesia. His low level of oxygen in the blood and a nasty bronchitis complicates things enormously for this emergency surgery.

To save him we are going to have to enter his chest cavity, to separate the liver from the lungs and the heart and rebuild the diaphragm. For now Morris is being kept in an oxygen chamber.

Whenever people read an animal cruelty case negativity takes over, it´s a natural impulse to despair, to curse, to ask us to find the culprits and punish them, lock them up for life. Unfortunately all that energy goes to waste.. most of the times the culprits are never found and we can´t really do anything about it.

Instead let´s try to focus and act positively and to make something amazing happen here. True, Morris is badly injured but he is alive and wants to live. He is a strong cat and he is ready to put up the fight of his life…. and for this, he needs us…

This is a very complicated surgery and post-surgery and for that we need your help.

Please focus on the positive. Help us turn this horror into a great success story by donating towards Morris surgery… This is quite an uncommon surgery… it takes a lot of force to break a cat´s diaphragm this way. We will be showing the surgery so that you understand the extent we go to save these lives.

Please help us save this beautiful cat´s life.. donate, help Morris breath again…

Update 8 November…

Morris was operated yesterday. I was there, the surgery lasted over two hours, and during this time I saw this beautiful cat endure what no cat should ever endure.

All his organs were in different place.. we literally had to put everything back together like a puzzle…

In the end… in the end Morris PREVAILED.

Please watch this video… it´s long but it will definitely feel the emotions we experienced those that were there..

Snapseed

Have a look at Morris… what a difference!!!

Morris life has been saved. Over the coming days we will be focussing in getting his strength back and most importantly, dealing with the pneumonia that has made things so complicated during surgery. Help us turn this horror into a great success story by donating towards Morris care…

Please help us save Morris and other abused cats like him. Donate, join us in our daily efforts…

Many thanks!

Viktor

Please follow our work at Let´s Adopt! Global.

Poor Morris, I can’t believe there are so many heartless people in this world.
You are right, my first impulse is to wish those people the worst things in life, but we need to channel those negative feelings and turn it into something positive for Morris.
Count on our help! Donated! Unfortunately it´s not much but if many of us help Morris will be ok.

  2. Lorraine Winson says:

Viktor, how do you keep so positive in the face of this avalanche of evil? Small donation on its way. I know you will get Morris back to his old self. x

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Dear Lorraine, it’s the only thing I can do. If I despaired I would burn out in a week…

  3. I just donated towards Morris…..my heart and prayers are with him…..watched the video and tears are rolling down my face…..how could people be so cruel and heartless is beyond me….no animal deserves this type of abuse or any abuse for that matter……I truly do hope that Morris will pull through his surgery….I will be watching for updates on him….may God bless and watch over him and your incredible team….Viktor, you rock big time and so does your team of angels…..love you all

  4. I have sent you an email in reference to Morris. I think that this is horrible, I wont let my babies out for this very reason. I am sharing his story in hopes of raising funds, as well as donating. I would love to add this beautiful baby to our family!

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Heather… I will be in touch through email.

  5. Kristen Sayers says:

I don’t know how people who do such things can live with themselves. As the owner of 9 black cats – some indoors, some barn cats – I know some of the things people say about them. I see my cats when I look at Morris. donation made.

  6. Viktor, I know you just get tougher when the case is harder. You focus on saving the animal and leave God to take care of the abusers. He will!

  7. Lynn crago says:

    Please try to save Morris

  8. Elle Vee Legionne says:

Poor sweet thing…. I’ll send you a donation when i get my check this week. I had a black cat named Angus that looked like him. And Angus was nothing short of awesome…..loved playing in the woods and terrorizing the wildlife. He was fantastic with my kids and amiable to the other cats. Black cats are no different than any other cat.

  9. Ralf Lenhard says:

What a beautiful boy – it is beyond me how anyone can be so cruel to animals. Donated in memory of our lovely black girl Selkie – sadly lost to cancer in August. x

  17. bob coulee says:

  18. Morris sweetie you are in my Prayers. Please Please Fight sweetie, Stay strong and win this battle you are facing. May God Be with the Surgeons as the Save your life May you recover fully and find the loving home you so deserve.

  19. The poor dear!!! Shared on my FB wall.

  20. Ylva Westerholm says:

I hope the so called “people” who did this will get a severe punishment!

  21. Dimi Tzounakos says:

Dear Viktor, how could I not try to help ? I can’t. Donation made and on its way.

I have two boy cats who are black and I adore them. I can’t believe people can be so evil and cruel. Poor little Morris. I love him, he looks just like Bill, my young cat. I am donating, it isn’t much but I hope it helps a little. Please everyone donate even one pound to help this beautiful natured and beautiful looking cat. I would love to adopt him but I live in the uk and already have two boys who don’t get on. I am praying that Morris will find a loving home but he has to come through his surgery first. Praying +++++

  25. DONATED. I HOPE, HE’LL BE OK.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Agata… he´s doing amazing, check out the last update..

  26. Irmita Ramos says:

Seriously people who hate, who are abusive and just mean to all kinds of animals just make me sick and are the ones who really “shouldn’t have the right to live ” nor “the right to go Outside” Ever ! ALL ANIMALS ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE RIGHTS AND FREEDOM OF THEIR OWN KEEP IN MIND THAT THEY WERE HERE ON THIS EARTH BEFORE US HUMANS – AND KILLING OR HARMINING ANY INNOCENT ANIMAL IS THE VERY 1ST STEP TO BECOMING A SERIAL KILLER !!!

  27. Donation on the way… I know that LAG can help Morris get back to his healthy self! I love black cats. My very first was a black persian who Morris greatly reminds me of. I am excited to see his progress updates & will be sending you an email in hopes of adopting Morris when his recovery is over.

  28. Hi Victor, I cannot imagine anyone being afraid of Black cats, they are so special, so lucky to have around…and always loved black cats with a passion ….have managed to have two in my life among the various tabbies, gingers and dogs…all living happily together….one pure black, the other a tuxido.
I know your team will do lall they can to help dear Morris, and will say prayers and put out healing thoughts for him, and will donate as soon as funds allow…

    Toni HK.

  29. Carine Michiels says:

Just donated! You are correct, Victor, we put too much energy in making us angry about who do such awful things. It’s enraging though how some people treat animals, but there is a higher power that shall deal with those and they shall get what they deserve! Hope Morris is going to make it, he’s beautiful! Thanks for all you do for these sweeties, Victor.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      Thank you Carine… thank you

  30. im going to check my act and send what I can ,, I pray Mortus will be ok and God will take care of who did this evil thing to him ,, black cats are not evil just a stupid superstition get real people !! That innocent cat did not deserve such pain and I would take him in a second if I wasn’t allergic to cats I love animals but if nobody takes him I will find someone good who will

  31. That is one beautiful cat. I hope he recovers quickly and finds his forever home. As you said, Viktor, we are wasting our energy and emotions on the cowards who did this to him. Showing love and support for Morris and all the other beautiful animals you help is a good alternative. Bless you, your crew and all these people who support your work.

  32. SUE GRIFFITHS. UK. says:

Donation on its way for Morris. After the death of my 17and a half year old beloved lurcher, I was determined that after grieving and when we were ready for another dog, it would be a black lurcher from Greyhound Rescue Wales. In fact they only had 2 lurchers at the time we enquired so we had a white one also. Thank you Viktor and team for your fantastic work. I love you all. Sue Griffiths. Wales.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Sue.. thank you for helping us making this possible..

  33. Liz from Montreal says:

Hi Vicktor and the Let’s Adopt Global community,
Vicktor I saw your plea today.” PLEASE LEAVE THE NEGATIVITY ASIDE AND HELP US SAVE MORIS LIFE”. I agree and hope that as a group we can stay focused. As a community we have 2 roles. 1 role is to help you, Vicktor, in your efforts to make the world a better place, 1 animal at a time. Our other role is to know who the animal-bullies are in our own neighborhoods and to let them know we are watching.
Most of the time the abusers do not get caught. This only happens when someone in their immediate circle decides to say something or report them- a very rare occurrence.
In my immediate world, I have frightened the wits out of a group of teenage girls who thought that scaring a cat in the street was a funny thing to do- They did not know it was my cat they were bullying, but that would not have made a difference to me at all.
I also confronted a friend who’s dog was abnormally skinny- lost the friendship over that- but I don’t care. I understand the dog is eating now and hopefully gaining weight.
A neighbor of mine who made it clear that he does not like cats, knows I am watching him. I let him know that if I see any hurt cat in the area , I would be knocking on his door. This is what I am doing in my world to protect animals.
While we are helping you ,Vicktor, I’d like to hear from others what they are doing in their communities to stop abuse before it happens.
The animal-bullies are in our neighborhoods too- not just in Vicktor’s world. Let’s make sure our neighbors know we will not stand by and say nothing- do nothing. Let’s all make noise!

I donated for Morris who reminds me of my beautiful black boy called “Beau”. I wish you a smooth recovery Morris. You are in good hands.
    Liz from Montreal

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks for your note Liz… just seen it now..
Morris is doing amazing.. did you see his last pictures?

  34. He is just beautiful and looks like he is very sweet. I have known many black cats throughout my lifetime and every single one of them have been total sweethearts. I have never met a mean one. Most black cats are very laid back, very docile and very loving. And it is a shame that most people don’t know that within their genetic make up that black cats have these traits. To be very sweet and loving. I hope Morris will recover and find a family who will love him. Blessings to you little guy.

  35. I am so pleased about the good news. I thought of him a lot. He is so, so sweet, like a little teddy bear. He reminds me a lot of one of my cats who died of sudden kidney disease six years ago (21 November) aged only 9. My first cat was also black and I have always had black cats: they are my little panthers. Now I have a beautiful girl with huge round eyes, Onyx (often called Headlights because of her eyes) we adopted last summer at the Solstice. She is an amazing cat. And the great love of my life is a tuxedo cat, mainly black, an angel in a tuxedo suit. We had up to four black cats together. People are so ignorant.
All my love to Morris. I donated for him. He has really touched my heart. I wish him to recover very quickly and have a wonderful and long life.
It’s not safe to let cats to roam free, even less black cats, even less in this period of the year. We built a large catio in our garden so they can enjoy the outdoors without the dangers. But I understand Morris didn’t have a home, he will have now. Many kisses to him and a big thank you to all your team: you make miracles every day.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Many thanks Renata… apologies, I didn´t see your heartfelt message until now.
Thank you for your assistance to Morris.. did you see how well he is doing?
      Love
      Viktor

  36. Kudos to your vet team Viktor! They did a great job and hopefully the pneumonia will be gone soon! Prayers are with you Morris!

  37. https//www.facebook.com/ambassadorsofkindness “Morris we are watching your progress reports vigilantly. Although we are two little bull terriers and would probably enjoy chasing your butt… we care bro! Maybe when you are better!”

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for caring guys!!! 🙂

  38. marion crist says:

  39. Viktor, you are an angel on earth!! I would LOVE to do what you do, and I’m going to try once I move to Prague, Czech Republic. Once I’m there, I hope to be able to adopt a wonderfully fixed cat that you saved. Keep it up and know that God rewards people like you….I’m making a small donation and hope to make it a regular thing.

  40. Sashko Kostoski says:

      Many thanks Saskho!!!! Thank you!!!

  42. Pamela Gileno says:

What a beautiful cat. He was so loving….despite the horror he endured. I hope they catch the horrible person who did this. Anyway, I donated and hope so much Morris has a full recovery and gets adopted in the loving home he deserves!!

  43. James Curfman says:

Oh my God, the poor baby! NOT COOL of whoever did that to such a calm, loving cat as Morris! My Mom has a little “Black Tiger” (that’s how we describe her, she’s a beautifully striped black cat…some say the stripes fade as the cat ages, but she’s just over 6 months so her stripes are still very pronounced). I can only imagine what I would have done to the person or people who did this to any cat, let alone Mom’s! I would obviously fall into the category of people who would seek severe retribution for this act of violence, so you and your team are definitely on the higher moral ground than I am. I already know that I could never go into the medical field, as I did laundry in a Home. I certainly don’t have the temperament needed to handle emergencies like this. I would have been better suited as a bantam-weight boxer or something. May God bless you and your team over-abundantly for your Good Works with and for animals! I wish I could give something, but I can’t even really take care of myself! I must live with Mom for the foreseeable future, and we help each other this way. I have become very attached to Sassy, myself! Mom named her ‘Sassy’, short for ‘Sarsparilla’. If the cat had been a boy, Mom would still call him Sassy, but this way it would be short for ‘Sassafras’. I call her Sassy, short for Black Tiger Assassin! She still has that ‘playful’ mood most of her waking time, and she does nip and claw. For the most part we are used to that, but there does not seem to be a way to get her to stop doing either one. My 7-year-old daughter is afraid of Sassy (the Assassin went after my girl and scratched her within the first ten minutes of their first meeting), but then my little girl is afraid of many things. Sassy is most definitely her own person and stubborn as any mule! We love her, though!

  44. Strange, something must have gone wrong with the comment I posted the other day: it seems that it is still waiting for moderation.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

      I don´t known Renata… I will check it out… let me see..

  45. Yes Viktor, I am so pleased for Morris. It would be wonderful to have him: he seems the perfect twin of my beloved Taliesin, but we already adopted two adult cats last summer and I don’t want to impose anyone else on my two fragile old babies. I am so sorry for Pablo: kidneys are a terrible thing. Taliesin died of that and one of mine, one of the two old ones, now seems to be reaching the end, after three years of illness. Blood test this morning, still waiting for the urine one: every time a bit worse … Some months left (if we are really lucky). It’s terribly hard to see them going. Very, very hard indeed. And I never get used to, never.

  46. Liz from Montreal says:

Hi Viktor. Yes I saw the picture of Morris in that lady’s arms. He looks exactly like my boy Beau. Very handsome!

  47. Viktor I am so happy for Morris happy ending!! I wish all of them includeing Pablo could have a happy ending ! But the sad truth is you can not save them all!!! But you try your best to save the ones you can!!
I admire you for not giving up on them!!! You do every thing you can to save them !! Keep up the good work I hope we get to see Morris in his new home once he settled down!!!
    God Bless you and yours!!!!

  48. My cat also faced the same problem. The Vet say, either she has been kicked or hit by a car. Now, her liver is pushing her lungs. She is still a kitten and not active as before.
