“…Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

It´s been a month and a half since I took that one day trip to the Middle East to Rescue Diego. The trip went well. It was exhausting but also exhilarating to be able to make such difference to the life of one animal that had absolutely no chance.

Upon my return Diego was operated and recovered nicely. He is about to fly to Switzerland to join his beautiful family…

But Diego wasn´t the only life we saved on that trip. By sheer coincidence I found myself in the presence of the most heartbreaking situation, a whole box full of kitties, many of them sick, abandoned to their fate.

My friends and I took them to the vet to be treated and left them there, not before giving them my word we would find them all homes and give them wonderful lives.

I will never forget the feeling of holding the future of all those lives and having to leave them behind while they were being treated, vaccinated, paperwork being organized, etc… I knew rescuing them would mean I would have to fly back to Jordan at some point to get them  but leaving them in Jordan to fend off by themselves begging for food on the streets was never an option.

On Wednesday I will catch an evening flight to Jordan, in the middle East. I will arrive to Amman at 23 hrs. I will then be greeted by my friend that will hand me over a box with the kitties and I will immediately head back to the departure lounge to return on the 7 o´clock flight. So, this time I won´t even be leaving the airport. I will be back home with all the babies with me by lunchtime.

Who does that? Who flies to the Middle East to rescue five kitties without even leaving the airport and returns on the first available flight just 8 hours later? Who is crazy enough to do this?

We are. Let´s Adopt Global does this. Call us crazy, but we are going to change those lives forever.

Update 9 July…

10549201_839820296042469_8874421317699299463_o

I´M AT THE AIRPORT… HEADING TO JORDAN, IN THE MIDDLE EAST, TO PICK UP THE KITTIES..
I´ll be landing there at 23.00 hrs… this is going to be incredibly short and I hope nothing goes wrong. Fingers crossed…

LANDED!!! IT CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT HERE….
Had a pleasant trip, watched 300 Raise of a Empire a movie where lots of people are angry and mean to each other, lots of blood, people cheer noone cries . I then watched Labor Day, a movie where lots of people are angry and mean with one guy and we all get to cry in the end.
Ok, enough jokes… heading to get the kitties..

Oh… look… the Bedouins have come to the airport to greet me!

That´s it… we are out of here… IN and OUT!

Update 10 July…

It was a whirlwind operation, I would fly to the Middle East overnight, get the kitties at the airport and fly back to Europe arriving home in the morning… Everything went as planned.

IMG_2729

I can´t begin to describe how tired I was when I took this picture. The desolation of the boarding lounge at Amman´s airport … by that time kitties were already on the plane, probably snuggled up sleeping.

IMG_2788

LANDED!!!!  Now let´s see how are the kitties doing..

IMG_2726

Excellent.. everything has gone well… now the drive to our European HQ´s in Valencia and straight to the vet to check everyone is doing well…

10498479_840770765947422_5325662931567429675_oEveryone is well… 🙂 … here are some pics taken at the clinic and in my own home where they are resting waiting for their next flight on Saturday when three of them will fly to their homes in Switzerland..

Update: You´ve seen their journey, from the carton box in Amman to their homes in Switzerland… but hold on.. there were three more cats weren´t they? Peanut, Lana and Tiger…

Yes… we took care of them too… and what did we do? Again.. we jumped on yet another plane and took them to their homes in Germany… here, in some pictures, a journey that 1000 words couldn´t describe…

Peanut and Lana, with typical worried faces, yet again not knowing what was going to happen! Tiger was sleeping in the back… he couldn’t care less really..

IMG_3148

and so… we flew to Düsseldorf, in Germany…

A few hours later…

IMG_3224

Lana and Tiger were home.. but we had one last thing to do… deliver PEANUT!!!

And all was going well until THIS happened..

Luckily… After a few hours of unnecessary and crazy delay we Peanut arrived home…

IMG_3217 copy

And from here we had to be back in Düsseldorf in time time to catch my flight back… and that, my friends, will be a story told another day…

For now… this is it… all kitties save and sound at home… the craziest rescue we´ve ever done… I´m totally dead…

This was not a normal blogpost… this was the fulfilling of a most sacred promise. made to a box full of helpless kitties.

You´ve seen what we do and how we do it, please Donate, help us continue rescuing those that truly have no chance…

Many thanks!!!

Viktor Larkhill

I follow and donate to a number of rescue groups and large animal charities, but in all my years of animal advocate I have never met an organisation like yours. I read your blog daily and there is not a single post that doesn´t inspire me to do more and to do better. I don´t know anyone that does what Let´s Adopt Global does. You make me cry, you make me laugh, you make me proud of being part of what you do.
This is a thank you from me and my family.
We are in this journey with you. Count on 50 from us.
    Mick and Sarah

    hi Victor,
I love reading about your work and your rescues. can you tell me what happened to all the cats you were rescuing from the place that had them piled in cages, one above the other. You were going back daily to take more out, did you manage to rescue them all?

  7. I 100% agree with Mick Stewart’s comment. I have never seen or heard of an organization like yours and the sentence you quote from the below Steve Job’s quote is so appropo:

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
    Steve Jobs

Your group is challenging and changing the way animal activists Do what they do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We give a little for the kittens, in the future it will be more. I promise. God Bless you all and all the animals you care for.

Prayingg all goes well. If didn’t have 4 rescued would adopt them all as like to have 4/5 cats as company for eac other but am sure you will not have any trouble finding homes for them all. We had a little ginger kitten turn up at our back door. Not scared of dogs barking took him in and then remembered my Mum had died a couple of weeks earlier and I was still grieving but ginger was my Mums favourite cats, made me happy and sad but like to believe Tommy was sent by my Mum. I donate monthly.

    1. Viktor Larkhill says:

Thank you for your wishes Norma.. and thank you for being there… Wish us luck!

  17. Donated. Good luck and God Bless.

  18. Patricia Bearer says:

Viktor, Thank you for making them important. There are so many who would discard them and say they don’t matter.
But they do matter. Every little life you save. It is heartbreaking work, and you are quite a man to take on this endeavour.
Donating, with much gratitude, for the castaways.
    Patricia
