NINA, a kitty dragged under a car with three legs distroyed
Nina entered the clinic in the arms of her “owner” that brought her to be euthanized.
She was run over by a car in front of her house, got stuck under the vehicle and dragged along the village main road.
How do we know this? The owner told us.
The owner wanted her killed without even trying anything… we asked her to give us ownership so that we could save her life. She accepted immediately and walked away.
This is the challenge. We must save Nina’s life whilst at the same time ensuring mobility and a good quality of life for her. Daily cures on her lacerations as well as an initial operation that will fix her third leg in place so that tissue rebuilds around the exposed bone.
At this stage we are contemplating an ITAP procedure (intraosseous transcutaneous amputation prosthetics) but it will depend on how the injuries evolve and the state in which the bone is left during the healing process. At this time it’s an incognita.
Nina is living in a nightmare, but solving the nightmares of cats is what we do, together.
Please, if you can, help us SAVE NINA’s life today, any amount will help, it’s the combined efforts of many that matters. That’s how miracles happen.
As usual you will be able to follow up Nina’s evolution through this blog or the wall of our Facebook Page: Let’s Adopt! Global
Update 31st January
We have tried everything to keep save those two critically injured legs. It couldn’t be. The paws were too damaged, there was no vascularity, we tried everything but it wouldn’t work.
We have amputated both legs at Carpus level, leaving enough bone to apply a prothesis in due course. Amputating is the procedure of last resort, only to be carried out to save the life of the animal, and that’s precisely what we did here. Had the legs remained in place for longer we would have risk the spreading of infection and Nina would have eventually died.
Nina is obviously quite upset but otherwise she is very well, even when facing such adversity she’s a happy-go-lucky and playful little cat.
Update February 2
Nina doesn’t feel her life is a nightmare anylonger… and she wishes you all a wonderful weekend, even to those that think she would be better off dead right Nina?
