KOLA, probably the most helpless kitty in the world
Right now, today, 23 of January 2013, this is the more helpless creature I know…
Her name is Kola, and she has been thrown out from a fifth floor. I’m told it’s the second time this happens this year.
A wandering kitty surviving by going from a house to another to meow for food and caresses. A wonderful, softly affectionate Tonkinese that TWICE has knocked on the wrong door and was thrown, five floors down, in precisely the same spot.
Noone has seen the criminal in action, but we know, there is a man in that building that hates cats. It’s too much coincidence. This time the brute nearly managed to kill her.
Kola doesn’t have one fracture… she has THREE!!, the two most complicated are a totally shattered humerous, a bone that has literally exploded in multiple pieces (that tells me she landed on that leg)
the second part of the impact destroyed her hip, that strong and resistant square frame, that here, has been broken on two different parts, and finally, an open fracture on her hind leg, with a Calceneum exposed to the air.
In short… a total DISASTER.
This is how Kola arrived to us, inside a carton box covered in bandage. She sat there, unable to move and speak, just telling me with those wide open eyes, Meow (HELP ME).
She didn’t tell me: ” I know it’s going to cost a fortune to fix me, so it’s ok to kill me”. She didn’t tell me: “It’s ok, euthanize me, there are millions of other kitties out there, I’m just one of them”. She didn’t tell me: “I’m in unbearable pain, I’m suffering, please kill me”. She doesn’t know about that stupid thing we invented and call money. Her eyes, her behavior, her entire feline wonder of a being told me, tells us.. HELP ME. Please…
Three operations, a final bill that would make many heads spin. I don’t know any other rescue organization that would save Kola, noone else would go through the expense, the effort and the risk of failure.
But we must try… and for this I NEED to ask your help, please, contribute to Kola’s surgery today, if you can, because it’s important, because it will not only save her life but send the message to the world that every life counts, even the life of a broken kitty with wide open eyes and a funny name.
We don’t have any time to waste. Her FIRST operation will take place tomorrow Thursday, January 24th…
We know times are tough and many are struggling right now, if you are not in a position to contribute please, at least help us save Kola’s life by SHARING this blog on Facebook, Twitter, you name it… anywhere you can…
Many many thanks… as usual we will provide personal updates to our donors as well as through our Facebook Page, Let’s Adopt! Global .
Update 24 January…
15 hrs. Spanish time, we are about to start Kola’s first operation. Well be updating some videos here..
Video 1: Entering the area, creating a stable working field
Video 2: Assessing the damage.
Video 3: Reduction and stabilizacion
Video 4: Two plates
It has been precision work, and one of the most stressful operations I have witnessed. The margin of error was nil, a mistake in measurements and the bone could have snapped, and that would have been a disaster. Luckily, all is going well so far..
And that’s it!.. done!!! First surgery is over!!!.. here is the final result… AMAZING!!
Good night Kola… sleep well… it’s been a long day…
Please, if you are able to, consider donating any amount towards her care.. This operation, and the others will only happen because of you… Many many thanks!.. Viktor
UPDATE 25 January: KOLA’S SECOND OPERATION
Today we are going to have to fix her open fracture as well as possibly try to fix her broken hip in one go. Both fractures are emergencies and this can’t wait any longer…
Video 1: Assessment of the fracture and aligning of the broken bone…
Update January 29

Here is a video that will make your day…
Please, if you are able to, consider donating any amount towards her care.. This operation, and the one we did yesterday could only happen because of you… Many many thanks!.. Viktor
