Mika, a lady in the dark
|
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 17 I’m sorry Mika… we had to do it. We tried every single possible way, we couldn’t bring light into your life again. Now, the most we can do is to find you the perfect home, one with kind people and soft smells where noone hurst you ever again. Mika is looking for an amazing home.. are you that home? Please write to me: viktor@myletsadopt.com ==== The purpose of this post is to find a home for Mika, a blind dog. Please, continue reading, but before you do, and just in case you forget to do so at the end, please SHARE, this post, to increase the chances of Mika finding a home. Thanks! SHARE!!
We don’t know much about Mika’s past life… she was found in one of the worst shelters in Turkey, stumbling from one side to another, fending off the attacks of other dogs that didn’t respected the fact that she was too old and too blind to be any real threat. We can only imagine what she must have gone through. The loss one one eye, the near total blindness in the other due to chronic glaucoma. This could have been prevented, but for that she should have had a friend, an owner, someone responsible… she had noone, she only had pain and a progressive darkness totally taking over her world. Mika is with us now, over the last two weeks we have been treating her remaining eye with a combination of glaucoma-specific drugs aiming to reduce intra-ocular pressure. It’s too late for her though. Whist we have reduced the IOP by a 30% we now know for sure she will never recover the use of that eye. At first we thought she may see some light. We now have understood that this won’t be possible and that keeping the eye in place could create bad complications in the future. Next week Mika will have an enucleation (removal of the eye and stiching of the eyelids), she will be much more comfortable that way. Blind but free of pain and discomfort. Now… about Mika’s character… what an AMAZING dog!!!! She is absolutely adorable!!! she can’t see you but she knows where you are, she knows you are talking to her, she looks right at you and asks you to play. Blind dogs are amazing. The moment they loose vision all their other senses kick in!. Their incredible sense of smell and hearing guide them through the world without a problem. It’s very common for people to encounter a blind dog and not realize the dog is blind. Now that we know what the outcome is going to be it’s time to look for the most wonderful home for this absolutely amazing dog. We are looking for an amazing family that would want to offer Mika a wonderful home for the rest of her life, home fitting our usual adoption conditions: 1. Family MUST have an existing animal. 2. The animals MUST live inside the home, not on the garden/yard. 3. The animals MUST be fed a RAW diet (www.rawfed.com) 4. No Smoking families…Come on.. what are you waiting for? Mika needs a great home… Write to me… viktor@myletsadopt.com
