A simple question: Do you feel it is ok for an animal rescuer to wear leather shoes?
This is the kind of simple question that delivered in the right context can break the most affable and convivial of dinner parties and turn it into a cake fight
I suspect there is a different answer for every animal rescuer out there, one that will depend on his personal convictions, on his own moral code, a code that, remember, tends to be like DNA, we all have a different one.
We are animal rescuers, we rescue cats a dogs and just about every other kind of animal out there, including lambs, rabbits, goats, birds, fishes, a lion and a crocodile.
Being individual animal rescuers was not enough for us.  We felt we could do more, so we founded Let’s Adopt, a group that has directly saved thousands and inspired many more across the world..
But guess what? We are not nor ever pretended to be a role model for anyone and certainly we are not saints. We just happened to have created a platform to rescue handicapped and animals everyone else considers unadoptable and educate about animal rescue and animal nutrition.
That’s all.
Let’s Adopt is not an animal rights group, it’s an animal rescue network.
The true hypocrisy would be for us to endlessly spend out life talking about animal rights and promoting veganism AND THEN kill the animals we rescue (like PETA does), or go around wearing fur, or leather products, or eating animal by-products, or even watch Lassie films.
Let’s Adopt! is an animal rescue that focus on the most difficult cases, the ones considered unadoptable by anyone else, on those that truly have no chance, that’s what we do, and we are amongst the best in the world.
Some of our members eat meat, others are vegetarians, others are vegan, we even have members who survive on a diet of Chocolate and Gummy bears… all of them are embraced amongst us because within the best of their abilities they save lives, every day. We don’t only talk about it or waste our time in useless discussions and philosophical debates… We take action.
As long as we know who we are and what we stand for we’ll be fine.

P.S. Anyone out there that cannot stand the thought of wearing leather shoes can get great stuff from   here and of course from here
As for me… I will continue going to the office barefoot… :)

It’s so hard to see them go.

From the moment we rescue them we become emotionally invested.

We love them… like our own.

We offer them a second chance in life, the possibility, even if sometimes remote, of a new beginning.

This group goes to extremes to provide the best possible life to our rescues. To some we are nothing but a bunch of extremists on a massive ego trip wasting their time and money on a lost cause. We see it differently… we wouldn’t life our life any other way.

Plata died yesterday in Cagri’s arms. It was too high of a mountain to climb. Her little broken body decided it was time to stop fighting. Plata gave a one last look to Cagri, the girl that so lovingly took care of her from the moment we rescued her, and stopped breathing.

It was a good death.

After all was said and done we went home to focus on the living, to continue our battle, to continue fixing broken lives, knowing that what we do matters, that it has a meaning, happy to live our lives with honor and passion at the service of a sacred mission.

Look around you… How many people you know that live their lives that way?

Goodbye Plata. You were loved and will be remembered forever.

Today we desperately need to ask your help to help two angels…  their stories are nothing but a glimpse into the kind of situations we are dealing with at the moment..

Plata was rescued three weeks ago together with 9 other cats that were being kept in absolutely appalling conditions.

Plata went straight to our best foster home, the kind of place that wouldn’t mind fostering an incontinent paralyzed kitty.

Her condition has deteriorated greatly though…. the lack of blood circulation in her hind legs has created terrible contact sores and we are fighting hard to stop the spread of infection.

Plata refuses to eat and has developed anemia. She is under the care of one of the best (if not the best) veterinarians in Turkey fighting for her life. We intend to fight with her and support her all the way.

…..

And here is our second Angel… we named him Angel Cat.

Angel Cat looks good right? Well… he is in serious trouble. Whilst his leg and hip fracture are old ones and have healed on their own Angel has a herniated diaphragm that severely limits his breathing ability.

We need to operate him urgently, he cannot continue living in this condition.

As you know Let’s Adopt functions exclusively thanks to the contributions of its members. If you are in a position to give us a hand please do so by contributing to the Simba Fund today.

Plata and Angel are just two of our most pressing emergencies… but we have many… much more than you could even imagine.

We are proud of this incredible community and our achievements. There is not a single day when we don’t marvel at what we all can do together.  Today we need to ask you to realize the seriousness of our work, and to reflect for a second on what is important to all of us.

Help us continue saving lives.. help us save Plata and Angel. Please contribute to the Simba Fund today
