In memory of Keci
Keci was one of our very special dogs.
She was brought to the Sariyer Shelter from the district of Beykoz in 2001…
Thanks to our friend Lale, Keci became a new member of an amazing German family in 2002.
That family took her with them on every vacation they ever went. This is the reason why every few months we would receive pictures of Keci from different countries and locations (the pic in this post was taken in Denmark)
Today 24 th of April she passed away from a sudden illness.
Keci lived in hell for the first four years of her life until we rescued her… she spent 8 wonderful years in Germany and passed a the age of 12.
We wish all our animals the same kind of life Keci had in her new home, and this is the reason why we work so hard to find the perfect families for our animals, whenever that family may be.
Our biggest thanks to that amazing family, we are very sorry for your loss.

To Keci’s family – My thoughts and prayers are with you at such a difficult time in your life. It is never easy to lose a beloved pet. All I can say that may be of any comfort to you is this:
Because you cared your dog had a wonderful life.
Because you cared she did not die on the streets or in a shelter.
Because you cared she felt love.
You gave her everything,
And she in return loved you.
Years ago when I lost my first rescue someone sent me the following passage. I don’t know what you believe in, but I choose to believe the following, and maybe it will help you in your time of grief:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
